Puerto Vallarta Days 3, 4, and 5

If you missed Days 1 and 2, go here to catch up.

We left off at the start of Sunday morning. We all got up, got ready and headed to a local favorite, Freddy Tucan's for breakfast. Avery didn't want to eat at all and was showing signs of her ear still hurting her.

Sutton on the other hand was happy as can be.

After breakfast we walked down the Melacon and headed back to the condo just in time for the girls' naps. Once nap time was over, we went back to the pool. We played in the water for about an hour before heading down to get the girls changed and ready for dinner.

That evening we chose an Italian restaurant because they hand make their pastas and have a beautiful wood fire pizza oven. Everything is spectacular there. We found this place last time we came, but we searched for it in the past and never found it. TripAdvisor was wrong for a long time on its true location.

We started off with their antipasta plate and their burrata. Who knew you could get such amazing burrata in Mexico! We all dined on pastas except the girls who had a cheese pizza. Well Sutton ate pizza and Avery ate a bit of everyone's pasta.

By the time dinner was done, Avery was pretty fussy, so we headed back to the condo to get them ready for bed. That was after asking for milk a hundred times and trying to talk us into letting them stay awake.

Once the girls were asleep, we headed back out for more gelato and another walk to burn off dinner. Then we called it a night.

Monday we tried to sleep in some, but the girls were not having it. After getting up and getting ready, my mother-in-law and I went to a local bakery for some yummy pastries. Mexican pastries are different than in America, but really good. After enjoying some pastries, Rory and I headed off to the local spa for couples massages. We went to the same place as last year and had the massages on the roof top in a private cabana type of room. We had hour and a half massages and it was heavenly.

After our massages, we came back and the girls were already napping. We were hungry, so Rory headed out to a healthy spot for some salads. They were huge, fresh and such a change from all the heavy foods we had been eating.

After the girls got up from their naps, we went to the pool again. We spent another hour there and came back down to shower and get ready for dinner. We heard about a new place that opened in the last year which was a food park. Kind of like a food truck event, but the "bins" don't move. They had one bin for tacos/burritos, another for pizza, one for burgers and another for a bar.

We all got burgers of some sort and they were really good. The girls had a great time playing there and enjoying their fries and part of our burgers.

Then we did the usual put the girls to bed and head out to walk, grab drinks or get dessert.

Tuesday was my mother-in-laws birthday, so we dressed the girls up in dresses. We went back to Coco's Kitchen for breakfast. After breakfast, we took the girls back to the condo since Avery was super fussy and just not being herself. She barely ate at breakfast other than some of my biscuit. She was hard to entertain and didn't want anyone other than Rory.

Brief happiness from Avery

We thought her ear infection was bothering her and may have not gone away from her antibiotics. Or that she got another sickness. She was tired, cranky, only wanted Rory and we didn't know what to do. We contemplated going home. We looked at flights, texted my sister to text my dad to bring the truck up Wednesday instead of Saturday and started to get ready to go home. We talked about this in length with my in-laws and we were feeling like complete failures at this point.

We had so much to look forward to in the coming days with Sayulita and Rory's birthday, so we didn't want to come home. But we also didn't want to be selfish if Avery was still sick. Toddlers. Never know what to do.

We went to the pool that day and tried to cheer Avery up. We also went back to Bella Napoli for dinner since my MIL was craving pizza! We had dinner, but it was cut short by cranky toddlers. When we got back to the condo, we said if Avery was still acting this way in the morning we would head home on the 3:30 pm flight.

We put the girls to bed, had some wine and watched the sunset and read the remainder of the evening.

Did we stay or did we go home? You will have to wait to see.

  1. I could see why you wouldn't want to leave--sounds like a lot of fun. Hoping you were able to stay and it was nothing serious.

  4. Ahh - poor Avery. That has to be so stressful when you know they dont feel good - BUT ITS VACATION!!!!! At least you had family there to help out & you were able to still get in those massages & yummy foods.

  5. I'm so sorry she wasn't feeling well! That is extremely stressful when your away and not by your doctor. The photos of the girls at dinner with your in-laws are just precious. Those are definitely keepers.
