Puerto Vallarta Vacation Day 6 - Sayulita

I am back for another recap of our Puerto Vallarta trip. If you missed, Part 1 (days 1 and 2) or Part 2 (days 3, 4 and 5), be sure to check those out.

We left off on Wednesday morning where we had to make our decision on staying in PV or heading home.

That night the girls slept well and woke up in a great mood. We were not sure if it was a fluke or if Avery was really feeling better. When she ate breakfast, we knew that she was doing better. Thank goodness.

After talking to my in-laws we decided that staying would be the best and they gave us the go ahead to head to Sayulita. You may have guessed that if you saw any of my posts on Instagram.

We headed out around 9 am to take a bus to the main part of town...the Walmart and port. Once we got there, we hopped on another bus that took us to Sayulita. It was a total of 1 1/2 hours to get from our condo to the town of Sayulita.

Sayulita is a surf town and it was completely different than Puerto Vallarta. I had been wanting to go there for a long time, but it was fueled even more when they started filming Bachelor in Paradise there. No we didn't stay at the same hotel, but we stayed a half mile from there.

We arrived in Sayulita and were not sure where to go. They drop you off at the beginning of town and it looks nothing like the pictures you see online. You have to walk down a long dirt road to get to the heart of town. We were told this is changing with another permanent road being built, but for now, it is a dirt road.

We followed some people from the bus down and got into the heart of Sayulita. Our first stop was lunch. We went to a little seafood shack, Barracuda, and it was amazing. We had shrimp ceviche tostadas that were loaded with all sorts of goodies.

After lunch, we walked the beach towards our hotel. We stayed at the Amor Boutique in the Villa de Amor. We got checked in, but our room wasn't quite ready since we arrived early. So we headed up to the pool for a bit and then back downstairs to grab a margarita. I had a pineapple one and it was strong and tasty.

After drinks, our room was ready so we headed up there to unpack and change before heading out again. Side note: our room was at the tallest point of the hotel. We hiked up a ton of stairs which was ok for us, but not for others. The views were beautiful.

You need this mosquito screen. They don't lie on BIP. Bugs everywhere in Sayulita and we were not even there during the high bug season.

They do complimentary yoga pool side every morning.

As you can see, the villa is small, but perfect for two people.

We headed out after to go sightseeing, shopping and more drinking.

There were pineapples everywhere.

We headed back into town and went to Rory's friends boutique, but she wasn't working at the time. We stopped in several other shops, picked up some stuff and headed towards the beach to walk it again. But then we found a cute little bar and decided to go in for a drink. I found a drink that had fresh kiwi, vodka, sugar and lime and it was one of the best drinks I have ever had. Seriously, I need to add kiwi to my drinks now.

After drinks, we walked around more until we decided to head out for an early dinner at a taco place, El Itacate. This place specializes in a burrito that has fried cheese as a tortilla instead of an actual tortilla. And it is huge.

They start you off with a ton of salsas, grilled onions and other goodies. We also ordered the guacamole because I need guac everywhere I go. Then Rory had the Itacate burrito with rib eye and I had the arrachera tacos. I read reviews that said don't order 6 of them because they were huge and everyone was right. I was completely stuffed at 2 of them.

After dinner and beers, we headed out to walk around. We were so stuffed and needed to burn some calories.

Earlier in the day there were reports that our basketball coach was going to be leaving Nevada to go to Cal and Rory was up in arms about it. Seriously devastated. I told him to not worry until it was a done deal. I felt our coach would stay because it was only his second year and he has done great things for us (getting to the NCAA tournament). Rory kept telling me no, and what do you know, a few hours later, the coach came out and said he is staying at Nevada. I was right and Rory owed me a tequila shot. Ha. I never drink tequila unless it is in margarita form, but when in Mexico, right?!

So we searched for a bar and found one. We made ourselves comfortable and asked for a top shelf tequila which was $1 or 19 pesos. Seriously. So we took the shot and it was smooth for tequila. And then we had him make us margaritas. I had a passion fruit (fresh) margarita and Rory has a mescal spicy one.

After two drinks, we headed back to our hotel. Since the pool was open 24 hours, we decided to go down for a swim. The water was cold, but it was fun to be in the infinity pool and take advantage of it since we didn't get to go in it earlier. After showers, we called it a night.

And I am going to stop there, before I get picture overload on here. Stay tuned tomorrow for days 7 and 8, also know as Rory's birthday and Friday, the day before we left.
