Friday Favs

It's Friday and I survived my week alone with my baby girls! It was a tough one, but we did it and I feel really good about it. We only had one major sleep meltdown, one vomit incident and eighteen breathing treatments. I call that a win. Oh and I may have consume more wine this week than I normally do. But don't worry, it was after my lady babies went to sleep.

Today I am linking up with Karli and April.

One. The girls dad aka my husband comes home today. Yes, we are all so excited. The girls' routine has been thrown off a bit and it shows when I drop them off at daycare. They get super clingy and cry when I get ready to leave. Even Avery. And this isn't usual. It only started this week. Even though we survived this week, I had me time (where I ate what I want...read mac n cheese and burritos most nights) and extra time with my girls. It was a much needed week all around.

Two. My super dry hand. Yes, hand. I have one hand that is youthful looking and one that looks like a grandmas hand and dry as all heck. I put so much hand lotion on during the day, but nothing helps. And I wear gloves outside, in my car and whenever I am out in the cold. My hand cracks all the time and is so painful and ugly. I am constantly checking if I get blood on things because they crack THAT much. It is so gross. This is about an hour after using Gold Bond Intensive Healing Hand Cream.
GROSS

Three. I am trying to decide if I should bite the bullet and buy a Garmin Vivoactive. I really want to track my workouts, my sleeping habits (fun to see how much I really get to sleep getting up with twins at night) and my steps. I know there are a hundred different options out there, but I know this one is great because my husband has had it for a year. I want the white one (more girly), but not sure if I want to drop the $179 on it. Only because I love new gadgets, but don't always use them as often as I should. I have a few watches, but don't wear them enough. What do you think? Do you wear your fitbit, garmin or other step calculator as much as you think you would?

Four. I have had a lot of interest and questions about my HOPEFUL boob job. So I was thinking of documenting most of it (sorry no boob pictures) for my readers. This way you can have an insider perspective (I asked two of my friends endless questions while researching it for myself) and get any questions you want answered. What do you think? Is it something you want to read? If so, send me any and all questions you have (email or through comments) and I will compile a list to make sure I include it in my journey.
Five. And here is a photo dump from this week since I have been living at work and home. I can't wait to go out to dinner tonight and have something other than burritos and mac n cheese (even though there is nothing wrong with that).

I was sent this from daycare. Avery hanging out.

I couldn't get Avery to sit still.

Here's to another week in the books and a weekend on the horizon. Have a great weekend!

  1. Your hand looks ouchy. Goodness girl! I joke about a boob job. Not sure I could really go through with it. You go girl for wanting your boobs back! It's amazing what babies do to them. Ha ha!!

    1. I need something for my hands. Awful.

I do want my boobs back and I am scared about getting a boob job, but also want to take my body back. They wrecked havoc on my body (in the best way though) and I just want to feel good about it again. I have my c-section scar, a scar from an umbilical hernia (from twin pregnancy) and a scar on my right breast from a breast abscess (from breastfeeding). I want to feel a bit more normal again.

  2. I have a dry hand too! That is so funny/bizarre! My left hand is perfect but my right is dry, cracked and scaly. I've tried EVERYTHING...even aquaphor (bc if it heals diaper rash, ya know...). The only thing that works for me is Avon Moisture therapy.

That toe art is too cute! I wish I were that creative.

    1. Oh ya, I have tried aquaphor too. And when I put some healing lotions on they burn, but then are nice for about an hour and then back to a gross hand. Ugh. I might have to look into Avon then.

I didn't create the toe art, daycare did. I need more ideas like that too. And patience. The girls there can get them to paint, do hand prints and feet prints. Mine come out crazy.

  3. I give you so much credit for handling two girls going through a sleep regression by yourself. Go Momma! Hope the weekend is wonderful!

    1. Thank you. I am exhausted from it all, but we did it. And tonight, I will put in earplugs and let my husband take care of the girls if they wake at night. I need a good nights sleep. Haha. Have a good weekend as well.

  4. Hopefully things with the twins start to improve now your hubby is home and they can get back into their routine! I use my fitbit quite a lot more than I thought I would actually, as it doesn't irritate my wrist so I hardly know its there and I use it just like I would use a normal watch and I always used to wear one so its kind of natural to me.
I would definitely recommend you pulling the plug on something similar.

    1. Good to know. I really want a fitbit or garmin. I just want to make sure I would use it a lot.

  5. Vaseline and glove the hand overnight. Should keep the moisture in and help heal the really dry skin. You could also try coconut oil and warm water. My husband started to use it in the shower and it really helps with his dry skin.

    1. Oh those are good tricks. I used to have gloves that had aloe in them. I need to invest in something like that again and use the vaseline instead.

  7. I use a FitBit for my exercise and sleep and I love it! I have the one that clips on. During the day and while exercising,I clip it on to my bra. My boobs keep it in place. At night I use the wrist band to keep it from getting lost.
For tracking my food calories, I use an app called "Lose It", it is fantastic and will connect your FitBit. This way you can see calories in and calories going out. I make it into a game and to try to beat my calorie count from the last day...lol.

    1. I think we have to make games up for ourselves sometimes to motivate us to do better and better. I just need to bite the bullet and get one (fitbit or garmin).

  8. I've had good results with Andalou brand of natural hand creams. I use this one whenever my hands get super dry. http://andalou.com/a-path-of-light-lime-blossom-hand-cream
