Nursing and Pumping Clothes

Recently, I was contacted by Figure 8 Maternity and Beyond to review some products. Since I am a new mom, I jumped at the opportunity. I am nursing/pumping and I need shirts and dresses that easily allow me to do either.

I can wear regular shirts if need be while pumping/nursing, but wearing a dress isn't so easy. So when I was contacted, I wanted a dress. Really badly. And since I wanted something I could wear to work, for a date night or just casually, I chose a little black dress. More specifically, the Sophie and Eve Charlotte Bamboo Wrap Dress.

* I received this dress complimentary to test and review, but all opinions are my own.
Note: I am definitely not a model.

This black dress is AMAZING. I can wear some heels or flats with it to work with some simple jewelry and then when I come home, I can throw on some black boots and a fun necklace for an evening out with my husband or a wine night with my girlfriends.

The dress isn't see through at all, sits just above the knee and is made of the softest material. I wore it to work recently and was able to easily pump. I just moved the outer bra area to the side and comfortably put on my pump parts. Since it has an inner area (cut-out), the pump parts stay easily and keeps your breast more secure.
Easy access for nursing and pumping

I love that it is a wrap dress, so it ends up being very flattering to all shapes and sizes. This dress can be worn even after you are done nursing or pumping.

I have my eye on several other items including a Cake Lingerie bra, Seraphine Alana Sleeveless Nautical Nursing Dress and Vidia Nursing Dress for an upcoming Bridal shower I am attending at the end of the month.

Being a mom who nurses and pumps, it is hard to find clothes that fit, look cute and are functional for pumping. So far, I love what Figure 8 Maternity has to offer. They have maternity clothing too (as it implies from the name). They have super fast shipping and everything comes wrapped up nicely which is a great because it's the small touches that matter.

Again, I received this dress complimentary to test and review, but all opinions are my own.

  1. Hi Danielle! I found your blog through twin talk. My twins were born dec 30. That is awesome you still nurse and pump! I would say I nurse/supplement about 50/50. Do you mind if I ask how much you get when you pump? Not sure if we are getting enough here

    1. Hi! So happy you found my blog! And our twins are a day apart. Do you have boys/girls/both? I don't mind if you ask any questions on pumping/nursing at all. Ask away. My pump varies each time I pump through the day. But on average, I get around 340 mls at 5 am, 265 mls at 7:30 am, 220 mls at 10:30 am, 165 mls at 1:30 pm, 190 mls at 4 pm and 290 at 8:30 pm. That is a weekdays schedule. On weekends I usually pump at 5 am, 8 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm, 8 pm. I just have to tweak it a bit on weekdays due to my work schedule. I get around 1,400 to 1,500 mls per day. I feed my girls formula at the 8 pm feeding usually to keep them fuller throughout the night. Then I just save that pump for the next days feedings for daycare. I try to eat oatmeal cookies or granola bars, drink mother's milk tea and pump in peace. I used to pump around my girls and when they would scream (because they were hungry), I wouldn't get as much. So now I pump away from them if I can.

  2. That is amazing! Keep up the good work! I have two older children, but I feel twins as the first children might be harder. I nursed my others but never had as much milk as I would like. I am giving more formula than breastmilk now and my supply is decreasing. However, I told myself at the beginning that I would listen to my body and aim for 6 months. We are close.
I started a blog mainly as a baby book. I figure only my family and other mothers of twins will find interesting. I don't publish as often as I would prefer.

    1. You know what is best for your children and if you have to supplement with formula, there is nothing wrong with that. Having babies is hard, having twins seems harder. We might have to supplement their breastmilk bottles soon as they are eating machines and I can't keep up with them. It makes me feel guilty, but I have to do what I have to do. I am also aiming for 6 months and if I can go longer, great! My girls are 5 months old today, so at least one more month to go.

And thank you for sending me your blog link. I will check it out. I love reading twin blogs!!
