Baby Girls are 9 Months!

I can't believe it is here, but the 29th has come and gone (I am a day late). That means my baby girls are 9 months old. And again, time is flying by so fast. It will be their first birthday before I know it. Time slow down please.

nicknames: Avery: Avery Girl, Avey, Bunny, Chunky Monkey  Sutton: Sutton Muffin, Sutte, Bear Cub, Little Miss

weight: The girls had their 9 month check-up on Friday, so I actually have stats on them. Avery weighs 17 pounds 9 ounces (47.1%), 27 1/2 inches (48.2%) and a head circumference of 46.4 cm (97.5%). Sutton weighs 17 pounds 3 ounces (34.4%), 27.25 inches (38.2%) and a head circumference of 45.8 cm (93.4%).

sleep: This continues to be a battle for us. Sutton has been sleeping like a champ and only wakes up once if at all during the night. Avery on the other hand wakes up 3 to 4 times a night. We asked their pediatrician what the deal is, and she told us it is probably teething. Ugh teething for 3 months?! Hopefully once she gets a few teeth in, she will start sleeping through the night.

The girls go down for bed between 7:15 and 7:30 pm. They will usually sleep until 2 am and that is when Avery wakes up. Then she will wake up a few more times until we get them up at 5:30 am.

eats: The girls are still taking down about 30 to 31 ounces of formula a day and then they get puree twice a day. They have tried some fruit (basically sucked on it and tried to mash it with their gums), breakfast potatoes and a tiny amount of ice cream (they loved ice cream which is funny because they hate cold things). We are hoping to try some sweet potato fries (baked and cut up for them) since they love sweet potatoes so much. We are also hoping to incorporate some meats this month. Wish us luck because the girls haven't taken to pieces of things very well. But they do love their banana and sweet potato puffs.

The girls have tried a few new things this month. They hated pumpkin and corn (gagged). They had blackberries which they didn't care for. They tried spinach (liked it), asparagus puree (liked it) and granola with bananas and they liked that one too. We are hoping to add a third feeding of puree/meats/finger foods this upcoming month.

loves: Sutton: Sutton is all about being on the move. She doesn't want to sit still at all. Once she is sitting, she will either scoot everywhere on her butt, or lay down and do three sixties. She army crawls and gets into the crawling position but hasn't quite mastered the real crawling. Sutton loves to reach out and grab toys. She is passing them back and forth between her hands and playing with all sorts of new toys (not just rattles or small baby toys). Baby girl loves her little sister. She still loves to hold Avery's hand and be next to her. Sutton loves chewing on her hands (still teething), her toys and her blankets. She really loves chewing on the tags of clothes, blankets and toys. Sutton also loves to eat. Whether it is purees, milk or small finger foods, she always loves trying new things. As always she still loves her Wubba Nub and she has mastered putting it in and taking it out. Sutton also is talking up a storm now. She hasn't said any real words (hi and ya by accident) yet, but it won't be long before she does. Sutton loves being outside.

Avery: Avery loves sitting up. She would rather sit up than lie down. She loves to pick up toys and bang them against other toys and the ground. She has mastered playing with toys. So much so, that she steals her sisters toys from her all the time. Girl loves her toys. Avery is a big time talker. She has also said a few things by accident, but she is really working on her talking skills. Avery has started to get into the crawling mode, but doesn't like being on her tummy as much as Sutton does. Avery loves to stand. She has some strong legs on her and it won't be long before she is walking. She is holding herself up with the help of furniture. Avery got her first tooth on September 28th, a day before she turned 9 months. She loves to chew on her hands and toys. But she also likes remote controls and our phones more than her toys.  Avery loves to play airplane with her daddy and she still loves her jumper. She loves to be carried around the house while we do the normal day to day things.

dislikes: Avery does not like getting up in the morning. She still gets fussy and would rather wake up on her own. They don't like waiting for their food. When it is their time to eat, they let us know, and not in a sweet way. The girls go back and forth on bath time. I guess we just need to time it better. They hate teething and so does mommy and daddy. The girls also hate when we take our phones, the remote controller or anything away from them that they aren't supposed to have.

clothing size: They are wearing mostly 9 month clothing. They still fit some 6 month clothing, but also have been wearing a few 12 month things. They finally caught up to other babies in their size and are growing out of their clothes so fast now.

diaper size: Size 3!

Baby girls, mommy and daddy love you both so much. We can't believe how much you have changed in the last month. You girls went to your first football game (and didn't do so well, but better the next game), saw your NICU nurses at the NICU bbq, met your future twin boyfriends at the bbq, went to Graeagle again (where these photos were taken), watched the Niners crumble and went camping for your first time.

You two are the light of our lives and have changed us so much.

Love, Mommy and Daddy

  1. Omgosh, I love these photos! The colors and their expressions are so perfect. I hope the sleep thing gets better. I can't even imagine managing two waking babies. You poor thing! Ben hated blueberries at first, but now he likes blueberry yogurt. He is a big oatmeal with banana guy. Hope this month is the most fun yet :)

    1. Thank you. They were actually happier this time around than their 8 month photos. I am hoping that with their teeth popping through that sleep goes better this month. Fingers crossed. And good to know on the blueberries. When can I start giving the girls yogurt?

  2. Just stumbled upon your blog... What sweet baby dolls you have! Happy 9 months to them! I would give anything to go back in time 10 months and have a 9 month old again. My littlest is 19 months now and I miss having a baby so much!

    1. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you stick around! I love my baby girls and each month gets better and better. But I know I will miss the baby stage once they are in the toddler stage. I am trying to take it all in and enjoy it. Even the bad days. That's why I can't be sure if we will have another baby or not.

  3. Great pictures! They are such beautiful little girls. It's amazing how similar but different they are. Sorry Avery is still struggling with sleep. Stinking teeth! Emmys top two are coming in and she's been spiking a temperature thanks to that. How are all out girls so big already? Make it slow down. :)

    1. I know, right? There is a 3 year old at daycare who can tell them apart in an instant, but other's have a hard time. So Avery and Sutton both have a tooth now and slept a bit better last night. Only woke up once with each. It's a start and hopefully stays! I can't believe how big our girls are! I definitely need time to slow down a bit. I hope Emmy is doing better today.
