32 Weeks and Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve all.  Not sure who is actually reading posts today in blog land, but I decided to write this early, so I can enjoy the day with my family.

Wow, oh wow, we are in our 32nd week of pregnancy.  Let me tell you, it is harder than it looks to carry twins at 32 weeks.  Everything hurts, everything is hard and you just want to be done, but you know these babies need to bake in there a bit (several weeks) longer.

I had my ob appointment Monday where I found out that I am measuring at 40 weeks.  That means I basically am full term with one baby.  Holy wow.  No wonder it was hard to pee in a cup at the doctor's office.  And by hard, I mean I peed on my hand.  Sorry if that is TMI for you all, but when you get to the near end of pregnancy, things get a bit too TMI for EVERYONE.

Babies heartbeats were strong and they were moving and grooving in the belly.  I wonder how they even have any room left in there because momma sure can't move much.  It is hard to bend over, take my clothes off, get dressed, get out of a chair, not have swollen legs/feet, grip anything, etc.  You name it, we have it going on folks.

Anyway, enough complaining.  Onto the weekly update.

How far along: 32 Weeks

Babies are the size of a: Jicama

Babies are: According to Babycenter babies should weigh around 3 3/4 pounds and around 16.7 inches long each.  We should know more on their growth progress on Tuesday when I see the perinatal doctor.  They say babies should be gaining about 1/2 a pound a week which would make them around 4 pounds 8 ounces and 4 pounds 1 ounce.  Yikes that is almost 9 pounds in my belly.  No wonder I feel huge!

Babies are growing fast and now have toenails, fingernails and real hair.  Their skin is becoming more soft and smooth and they are plumping out.

Maternity Clothes: All day, everyday.  My wardrobe is getting smaller by the day due to my belly getting bigger by the day.  Some shirts are way too short now and I am trying to make due with what I have, but I may have to give in and buy a few more pregnancy tank tops to put under my clothes so I don't look like a hillbilly.  And I am down to two pairs of shoes.  Oh how I can't wait to wear a pair of heels or cute boots again.

Stretch Marks: None and I am hoping I don't get any in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Sleep: Awful.  I am now sleeping at an incline which helps with the breathing issue since baby B loves to lay on mommy's ribs/lungs, but then I get really bad carpal tunnel.  So I exchange one bad for another.

Symptoms: Carpal tunnel, backaches, swollen feet, pelvic pressure, shortness of breath.  I am just one big walking pregnant mess, haha.

Best Moment of the Week: Christmas is here in two days and I can't wait to spend it with family.  I have friends arriving daily and I can't wait to see them all.  Plus we found out that we have 3 to 5 weeks left before these babies come based on their size, my size and how I am progressing.  Shit is about to get real here folks and I will be a momma very soon.  I.CAN.NOT.WAIT.

Movement: Dancing little machines.  In the ribs to the bladder, these girls are moving like crazy and I LOVE IT!

Cravings: Pasta, pizza, sushi and sweets.  Same as usual.

Gender: Two precious baby girls.

Belly Button In or Out: Out.

Wedding Ring on or Off: On, but on my right hand.

Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing really unless I don't eat often enough.

What I Miss: Sleep, being able to sleep on my stomach and being able to get out of cars/off the couch/out of bed/etc.

What I am Looking Forward to: Christmas and family/friend time.

Labor:  Nothing yet, but my body sure is gearing up for it.

Nursery: So so so close.  Just a few more things to do and we are finished.  I love sitting in the chair in there and staring at everything and all the progress.

Emotions: Feeling good, but overwhelmed by everything.  So basically my hormones are kicking in full force and I could cry or be happy at an instant.  Today I am happy and so looking forward to these next few days.

Until next week (33 weeks)!

31 Weeks. Getting Closer.

31 weeks here and we are so close to being done, but yet so far away.  Baby girls made this momma beyond uncomfortable yesterday and a bit scared that labor was going to start, so I took the day off.  From everything.  I laid on the couch ALL.DAY.LONG with my little Walter dude and watched mindless tv.  I only got up to get water, pee and eat.  I promised myself I would watch my sick leave and not take any days unless necessary.  Well yesterday was necessary.  And with all of the upcoming days off/doctor's appointments and upcoming maternity leave, I should have enough saved up for 16 weeks off.  But I probably will only take around 12 weeks.

So please forgive me for my late baby update.  A picture may or may not make it into this post as I feel like a whale and really feeling under the weather.

How far along: 31 weeks, 1 day

Babies are the size of a: Coconut/Pineapple.

Babies are: According to Babycenter and The Bump, babies should be measuring around 16 inches long (but ours are around 17 inches as of last week) and weighing in at 2.5 lbs to 3.8 lbs (but we know that babies are around 3.9 lbs and 4 lbs).

Babies are getting so big that they are crowding mommas lungs and pushing on her bladder.  The only way to grow more is to grow outwards.  All five of babies senses are developed and working.  They are moving around, making faces, hiccuping, swallowing, breathing and pedaling around mommas uterus all day long.

Maternity Clothes: All day, everyday.  I have a few Old Navy sweaters that are long and non-maternity, but I have officially phased out most other non-maternity shirts as my belly is too big to contain.  I tried to wear a normal longer t-shirt and since the babies started dropping, my belly hangs out.  Way attractive.  I only have two pairs of shoes that fit too, so there is limited choices between uggs and flats.

Stretch Marks:None yet, and hopefully none appear.  I had my dermatology appointment last night and the good news was, no stretch marks.  The bad news: 2 or 3 biopsies after the babies are born.

Sleep: Awful.  It is easier to take naps or short sleep intervals as I am really UNCOMFORTABLE.  I can only lay in one position for a bit before having to change positions.  Oh sleep how I miss thee.

Symptoms: Carpal tunnel, backaches, swollen feet, pelvic pressure, shortness of breath.

Best Moment of the Week: Taking a day off to myself even though it was because of the babies, it was so worth it.  Mindless tv and relaxation is just what the doctor ordered.  Plus last Saturday we saw Daniel Tosh and he was amazing as ever.

Wedding Ring on or Off: On, but on the right side and not sure how much longer I can wear them at all. I just feel lost without them and don't want to take them off.

Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: The nausea has come back, but I haven't thrown up.  Just all around feeling queasy at times.

What I Miss: Sleep, being able to sleep on my stomach and being able to get out of cars/off the couch/out of bed/etc. easier.

What I am Looking Forward to: The Nevada Wolf Pack bowl game this weekend, relaxation, finishing the last bits of the girls room, packing my hospital bag and Christmas.

Labor:  Nothing yet, but I must keep taking it easy and letting these babies bake as long as possible.  Please oh please let me make it to 36 or 37 weeks.

Nursery: So so so close.  Just a few more things to do and we are finished.  I love sitting in the chair in there and staring at everything and all the progress.

Emotions: Feeling pretty good though I had a mini meltdown by myself since no shoes fit and some of my go to shirts are now too short and I don't want to buy anything new.  Why can't I wear sweatpants and slippers all day, everyday.

30 Weeks

Another week checked off the pregnancy countdown.  Folks, we have made it to the 30s, week 30 to be exact.  I can't believe how time flies.  If this were a singleton pregnancy, we would have 10 or so more weeks, but since this is a twin pregnancy, we have about 6 to 8 weeks left.  Wow.  I can't believe our girls will be here that soon.  They will be here next month!  Crazy to think about.

Update on our perinatal appointment:  The girls are weighing in at 3 lbs 8 oz and 3lbs 1 oz for a total of 6 lbs 9 oz.  That is the size of one full term baby.  Wow this momma is really carrying lots of weight.  The doctor said the girls are on target to gain at least half a pound per week with an estimated weight of 6 lbs 8 oz and 6 lbs 1 oz at birth (around 36 to 37 weeks).  They are doing very well and he says momma looks great, but to be prepared for more back aches and more weight added to the front of my belly (only can go out from here).  And I must keep my eye out for consistent Braxton Hicks because he doesn't want me to go into labor too early, and if I do, we can stop it if diagnosed early.  So our goal is babies due around January 21st - 28th.
Wow the flash did nothing for my complexion this morning.  Sorry about the ghostly white look.

How far along: 30 weeks

Babies are the size of a: Cucumber/Head of Cabbage

Babies are: Baby A (who still has more amniotic fluid) is weighing in at 3 pounds 8 ounces and Baby B is weighing in at 3 pounds 1 ounce for a 11% difference.  As long as we stay under the 20% difference rate, we will be fine.

The babies brains are getting bigger and their skin is smoothing out.  An important fact: the babies bone marrow has taken over production of red blood cells meaning they will be able to thrive more once they are born.  They are strong enough to grasp a finger now!

Maternity Clothes: All day, everyday.  As I have said before, I still manage a non-maternity shirt here and there plus my non-maternity Old Navy leggings, but otherwise this bump is too large to contain.

Stretch Marks: Good news, my lovely waxer lady said I have no stretch marks yet and my stomach is growing beautifully.  I call that a win and thanks to the obsessive amounts of coco butter I use in the morning/day and the coconut/lavender oil I use every night.

Sleep: Still crappy.  Though I get a bit more here and there.  I just wish I could sleep for a total of at least 7 hours a night regardless of how many times I wake up each night (around 3 to 5).

Symptoms: Carpal tunnel, backaches, swollen feet.

Best Moment of the Week: Hanging out with friends (at my friends birthday celebration) and seeing the girls on their growth scan Tuesday.

Wedding Ring on or Off: On, but I am not sure how much longer they will be.  The hands are swollen from the carpal tunnel.

Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: The nausea has come back, but I haven't thrown up.  Just all around feeling queasy at times.

What I Miss: Sleep, being able to sleep on my stomach and being able to get out of cars/off the couch/out of bed/etc. easier.

What I am Looking Forward to: Going to see Daniel Tosh this weekend.  Loved his comedy show last year in Tahoe and I am sure I will love it this time.  Especially since we are front row and I am hoping he makes fun of me and my hugely pregnant body, haha.

Labor:  Thankfully nothing yet and hopefully nothing until around 36 weeks (my personal goal) or later.

Nursery: We are getting closer and closer to the finished product.  My husband has their names and mobiles to hang and I have a few more things to set up.  Good news is, we have almost all their clothes, blankets, swaddlers, bath towels, changing pad covers, etc. washed and ready for them.  Just need to take count and put away a few more things before the nursery reveal.

I love going into their room daily.  I love seeing how it has turned out, knowing they will be in there in less than 2 months and seeing the transformation.  It is everything I wanted and more for their room.

Emotions: Feeling pretty good emotionally.  Physically is another story.

29 Weeks

I can't believe we will meet these cute little babies possibly next month.  Care to take any guesses on when they will arrive?  I am now 29 weeks and this holiday season is flying.  Before I know it, it will be January and we could meet them any day.  But please stay in mommy's belly all cozied up until at least January 21st (36 weeks).
Sorry for the dark lighting. This was taken at 6 am.

How far along: 29 weeks, 1 day

Babies are the size of a: Head of Cauliflower/Butternut Squash

Babies are: Weighing around three pounds each and measuring around 17 inches each (we will know a more definitive answer next week at our monthly growth scan).  Babies are getting fatter and fatter as the days go on.  They are packing on the pounds like their momma during this holiday season.
Muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and are getting stronger by the day.  Another exciting development for the babies is their teeth are forming in their gums.

Maternity Clothes: All day, everyday.  Though I prefer my Old Navy active leggings over maternity dress pants.  Just add a sweater, boots and I am all set for the day.  It is all about comfort now.

Stretch Marks:Maybe one.  I can't tell if it is just an indention from my pants/shirt/sweatshirt.  But I am keeping the belly lubed up with coco butter throughout the day and coconut oil/lavender mixture at night.

Sleep: Oh how I miss thee.  Sleep isn't going very well with this carpal tunnel crap.  The wrist guard helps, but I still get numb and now my right thumb is starting to act up.  It helps if I sleep on my right side, but I am not supposed to do that very often or for very long.  If I could get the carpal tunnel to go away, then I could sleep so much better.

Symptoms: Carpal tunnel, backaches, swollen feet, exhausted and all around feeling like a whale.

Best Moment of the Week: Seeing family from both sides and enjoying the holidays with them all.

Movement: Oh these babies are moving ALL.THE.TIME.  I feel kicks on my bladder and into my ribs so many times per hour.  They are really dancing in there.

Cravings: Pasta, pizza, sushi and sweets.  Same as usual.

Gender: Two precious baby girls.

Belly Button In or Out: Out.

Wedding Ring on or Off: On, but they have been moved to my right hand as my left hand is experiencing carpal tunnel so it is often too swollen to take the rings off my left hand.

Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: The nausea has come back, but I haven't thrown up.  Just all around feeling queasy at times.

What I Miss: Sleep and being able to move easier.

What I am Looking Forward to: Our childbirth class on Saturday, surprisingly.

Labor:  Thankfully nothing yet and hopefully nothing until around 36 weeks (my personal goal) or later.

Nursery: It is coming together little by little.  I am almost done washing clothes and putting things up.  Now onto the walls (few of the gifts we got have to be put up) and unpacking all the things mommy and daddy bought on cyber Monday once they come.

Emotions: Feeling pretty good emotionally.  Physically is another story.

28 Weeks

Another week has flown by and now we are into our 28th week of pregnancy.  Wow.  We are officially in the third trimester and nesting mode has fully kicked in.  Bring on the holidays (the last ones without the twins being here other than in mommy's belly), food and family time!
Two little turkeys in my belly on Thanksgiving

So where are these babies at?

How far along: 28 weeks, 2 days

Babies are the size of a: Eggplant

Babies are: Getting fatter and fatter.  I am sure they are measuring around 2 1/2 to 3 pounds by now (we don't have another growth scan for 2 weeks) and are around 14 to 15 inches long.
The girls can blink their eyes and are sporting some eyelashes (hopefully like their daddy because he has super long lashes).  Their eyesight is increasing all the time which means they may be able to see the light that filters through my belly.  They are still developing their brains at a rapid rate (and showing brain activity with dreaming) and adding on the fat (big time) to get nice and plump for the outside world.

Maternity Clothes: Yes and some non-maternity stuff.  I just buy a size up (usually up to medium) and rock those sweaters.  I did a bit of shopping at Old Navy this weekend and scored some active leggings (which I intend to use as normal leggings for work) and two sweaters for $35.  The sweaters were only $10 each.  Killer deal and didn't break the bank.

Stretch Marks: I have one, but it isn't as noticeable right now.  I freaked out because my sweater left a huge mark on my belly and I thought I got a big stretch mark there, but nope, it was just an indention.  But I do have that dark line that runs from the belly button down now.

Sleep: Ehh.  I have been having some carpal tunnel issues in my left hand so sleep has been a big issue this week.  So much that I cried in the shower yesterday morning because I am so tired and my hand won't stop tingling.  But I caved and bought a wrist guard yesterday.  Good news is, I woke up twice last night and slept a ton.  Not enough to catch up on my sleep, but we are working on it.
Symptoms: Carpal tunnel, backaches, swollen feet, tired, nasal congestion lack of sleep.

Best Moment of the Week: Seeing the babies on the ultrasound as always.  Plus we have so much family time this week that my heart is bursting at the seams.

Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.

What I Miss: Working out and being able to move easily.  I feel like I need to roll off the couch, have help out of the car and struggle to get out of bed due to my belly getting bigger and bigger.

What I am Looking Forward to: Everything this week has to offer.  Baby appointments, family time, Thanksgiving, food, Christmas tree cutting, hospital tour, working on the nursery and meeting these girls in a few short months!

Labor:  Thankfully nothing yet and hopefully nothing until around 36 weeks (my personal goal) or later.

Nursery: It looks like a total mess, but I am sorting through things today, putting stuff up, doing laundry and in full on nesting mode.  I can't wait to share the nursery with you all.

Emotions: Feeling pretty good.  My heart is bursting at the seams with all the love and family time this week!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

27 Weeks (the last week of my second trimester)

It is Wednesday again which means it is bump/pregnancy update.   I know you are all on the edge of your seats waiting for my update.  So without further ado...onto the babies.
  27 Weeks and counting

How far along: 27 weeks, 1 day (last week of the second trimester)
Babies are the size of a: Head of cauliflower/rutabaga

Babies are: Growing and doing so well.  I can't believe how much they have grown in the last month.  On Friday (at 26 weeks, 2 days) I was measuring 31 weeks.  Yikes.  How big is my belly going to get?
Babies are getting on a better sleep/wake cycle and finally opening and closing their eyes.  Their brains are very active now, but still developing.  That is why momma needs to up her protein intake.  The lungs are still maturing, but babies could survive outside the womb if they came at this point.  Which they better stay inside and bake as long as possible.

Maternity Clothes: Yep still rocking them.  But my maternity work pants suck because they itch and stretch out that I have opted for leggings at work now.  No one seems to notice or care, so leggings it is.  Plus I need to up my game on some sweaters for this bitter cold weather.  Suggestions on places to get cute sweaters maternity and non-maternity at a great price.

Symptoms: Carpal tunnel, backaches, swollen feet, tired and nasal congestion.

Best Moment of the Week: Having the twins baby shower.  We are beyond blessed and received so much.  We don't have much left to get (the car seat purchases will hurt though), but so much to set up and lots of laundry to do.

Movement: Lots of baby kicks and movement.  Still no hiccups, but these babies love to move, press on my lungs and bladder and have some kick boxing workouts inside.

Cravings: Pasta, pizza, sushi and sweets.

Gender: Two precious baby girls.

Belly Button In or Out: Out.

Wedding Ring on or Off: On, but they have been moved to my right hand as my left hand is experiencing the carpal tunnel so it is often too swollen to take the rings off my left hand.

Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.

What I Miss: Working out, not being in so much discomfort,
holiday drinks (eggnog and brandy, hot chocolate and peppermint schnaps, etc.), moving with ease, and basically anything that involves being active.

What I am Looking Forward to: The last home game for the Nevada Wolf Pack football team.  Tailgate theme is chili cook-off.  Since I can't cook for more than 30 mins (max), we will be bringing a dessert, but you bet your tush that I will be enjoying lots of yummy food.  Plus we are going through our baby shower stuff, setting some of it up, seeing what we still need and going into full nesting mode.  I love it.

Labor Signs: We have some Braxton Hicks contractions going on, but no signs of labor.  Thank the heavens for that.

Nursery: We put up the gold polka dots last week and now we got a bunch of things from the shower to start setting up.  Our girls are going to be so spoiled and I can't wait to reveal our nursery to all.

Emotions: Good, but more emotional this week over my exhaustion.

Stay tuned for a baby shower post soon.  I hope to get the camera today or tomorrow to start my post.  I can't wait to show you all how amazing it was.

26 Weeks

We have made it to week 26.   This week is full of lots of fun regarding our babies.  Not only do we have our baby shower this weekend, but we saw our precious little girls on the ultrasound yesterday and they were so cute.  One was yawning and had the perfect little profile ever.  Pouty lip and just gorgeous.  The other was being silly and had her legs folded up to her face.  She was in the breach position, but still cute as ever.

Babies are moving around and prepping for birth (but not for another couple months please)! Baby A was head down by my bladder and I suspect she is the one kicking/punching/headbutting my bladder and making me feel like I am going to pee my pants at any moment.  Baby B is right up in the rib cage area and she was in the breach position.  Both are movers and shakers and perfect in every way.  Please stay that way sweet babies.

Onto the weekly update.
Don't worry there will be lots of bump photos this weekend from my shower!

How far along: 26 weeks
Babies are the size of a: Butternut Squash/Head of Lettuce
Babies are: Well we have more official updates on the babies sizes.  They are currently measuring 2 pounds and 2 pounds 2 ounces.  I am not sure how long they are at the moment, but websites suggest they are around 15 inches each.  They are ahead of schedule, so that is a bit more comforting since twins usually come early.

This week our babies eyes are forming and they will soon be able to open them up.  Their eyelashes are growing too which hopefully they get their daddy's long lashes.  Babies are building their immune systems and taking breaths too.  We even saw them breathing on the ultrasound yesterday.  So amazing.
Maternity Clothes: Still the same clothes.  I did manage to buy two pairs of sweats (I live in them when I am not at work or having guests over), a cardigan and another shirt.  I need some more sales and cute stuff to spice up this wardrobe.
Stretch Marks: I am really sad to say I found my first stretch mark on the underside of my belly on the right side.  I kinda felt it, and then saw it in the mirror.  There may have been a tear or two.  I love these babies more than anything, but my body is taking its toll here.
Sleep: Just ok.  Between the stuffy noses, the nightly trips to the bathroom and the lack of room for the babies in my belly, sleep is getting harder.  Though last night I passed out fast and only woke up twice.  I call that a major win!
Symptoms: Backaches, skin stretching and overall exhausted.
Best Moment of the Week:  Seeing our little girls on the ultrasound screen and how beautifully they are doing.  I just love them more and more every moment and can't wait to meet them.  I can't wait to see their faces, smell them (nothing like "the" baby smell) and hold them.  I am one proud momma here.
Movement: Lots of baby kicks and movement.  I love watching my stomach move and feeling the babies kick at me.  I often talk to them after their kicks and this is definitely one thing I will miss once they are born.
Cravings: Fruit (big time apple kick), ice cream and pizza.  Same as always.
Gender: Two precious baby girls.
Belly Button In or Out: Mostly out.

Wedding Ring on or Off: On, but tight.  Might have to move them onto my right side and figure something out soon.  So sad.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.
What I Miss: Working out.  I see all these mommies to be who are still working out (anywhere from 16 weeks to 25 weeks) and I feel a pang of jealousy.  I want to go on a run, take a workout class, walk my dog, or something.  I did manage two shorter walks with my hubby and pup this weekend and it felt great.  I am stretching at home, but that is about it for this momma.

What I am Looking Forward to: My baby shower this weekend thrown by my mom, sister and mother in law.  I can't wait to spoil these girls!
Labor Signs: We have some Braxton Hicks contractions going on, but no signs of labor.  Thank the heavens for that.
Nursery: It is coming along even more.  We have both cribs up, the recliner in, some of the decor done (polka dots on the wall and mobiles) and things are moving along in there.  I absolutely love their room right now and can't wait to have it complete.
Emotions: Way better this week than last week.  Things are more calm at work, things are great at home and just a overall sense of happiness this week.  Let's keep it that way please.

25 Weeks

I have had a rough week (work wise) and I can't wait for the week to be over and onto the weekend where I can relax, kick my feet up and watch movies all weekend.

But in the meantime, here is your 25 weeks update.
Pregnant at 25 weeks.  My belly is pretty covered up, but I will get a better picture this evening or tomorrow when my husband can take one of me.

How far along: 25 weeks
Babies are the size of a: Cauliflower/Rutabaga
Babies are: The babies are most likely measuring 13 1/2 to 14.8 inches in length and weigh about 1 1/2 to 2 1/5 pounds.  We will find out their actual measurements Tuesday at our growth scan.  The babies are starting to get their balance down which means they know if they are upright or down.  They are also growing more fat and hair as we speak.  We may even be able to see it on the ultrasound Tuesday.  Will the Butler babies be blonde babies like their parents?  Only time will tell.
Maternity Clothes: Pretty much I live in maternity clothes with a shirt here or there that is non-maternity.  I am already getting tired of the lack of variety.
Stretch Marks:So far so good.  I hope I don't get any.
Sleep: Ok.  I have been waking up every 2 hours or so to pee.  Thanks to the babies playing on my bladder.  I can't wait for my next chiropractor adjustment next week and my massage this weekend.  Hopefully they help.
Symptoms: Backaches, swollen feet and overall exhausted.
Best Moment of the Week:  Watching the Wolf Pack beat San Diego State at home and take first place in the Mountain West - West conference.  Otherwise, my week has been kinda crappy - work wise.
Movement: Lots of baby kicks and I love it.  I love trying to see which one is kicking, which body part is sticking out and the overall feeling.  These babies can kick all they want because it is very comforting to feel them.
Cravings: Fruit (big time apple kick), ice cream and pizza.

Gender: Two precious baby girls.
Belly Button In or Out: Mostly out, but it is in at the start of the day and out by the end.

Wedding Ring on or Off: On.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.
What I Miss: Working out and going on walks with my pup.  It is really hard to get moving around without feeling exhausted.  Didn't realize how quickly it would happen, but I am embracing the sit down and relax routine.  I also miss sleeping on my stomach and back.  They seem more comfortable.
What I am Looking Forward to: Setting up the nursery more this weekend, watching movies all weekend and relaxing.

Labor Signs: We have some Braxton Hicks contractions going on, but no signs of labor.  Thank the heavens for that.
Nursery: It is coming along FINALLY!  We set one of the cribs up last night and it took quite awhile.  Those instruction sheets aren't very helpful, but now that one is done, the other should be easy this weekend.  Don't worry, I just supervise and hold up parts so my husband can put it together.  We also got our recliner yesterday (protected and beautiful) and moved it into the girls room.  Now we just have to figure out the way we want the furniture.
Emotions: I am happy when I am not at work (due to too much work stress right now), but work is sucking the life out of me this week.  I hope next week is better with a holiday and furlough.  Plus my first baby shower is next weekend and I CAN.NOT.WAIT.

24 Weeks

Another week down which means another week closer to meeting our princesses.  I can't believe we are at the 24 week mark already.  That means 16 more weeks if this was a singleton pregnancy, but more likely 12 to 14 weeks left.  Time is surely flying.

I already posted a bump picture yesterday, and I won't have any new ones until this weekend because it is getting too dark to take them when I get home and I am being lazy.  But I will try to get another one, even though the Halloween picture is from Saturday night.

How far along: 24 weeks
Babies are the size of a: Cantaloupe/Eggplant
Babies are: The babies are looking more and more like newborn babies.  Their skin is gradually becoming more opaque and their bodies are starting to fill out more as they plump up.  Their brains are growing more rapidly along with their taste buds.  Their lungs are also developing more in preparation of taking their first breath outside of mommy's belly.  All of the baby sites say babies are just over a pound and around 12 inches long, but we know they are already way bigger than that as they measured about that size a couple weeks ago.  Grow babies, grow.
Maternity Clothes: Still a mix of maternity and non-maternity clothes.  But my dress slacks came in the mail and they fit good enough.  They aren't my normal fit, but they will do.
Stretch Marks:So far so good.  I hope I don't get any.
Sleep: Pretty good.  I have been sleeping better since I got adjusted at the chiropractor on Monday.  What a relief that has been.  Now if I could only get my pup on my sleep schedule, we would get more rest.
Symptoms: Backaches, swollen feet and overall exhausted.
Best Moment of the Week:  Going to Apple Hill with my family and family friends.  Even though I overdid it for the week, it was still the best trip.  Apple donuts, apple pie, apples, crafts and family.  I would call that a big win for the week.
Movement: Babies are moving and shaking in there.  They love to kick mommy when she is trying to sleep.  They are growing so big which means I feel the kicks everywhere, but I absolutely love it.
Cravings: Fruit, pizza, ice cream.

Gender: Two precious baby girls.
Belly Button In or Out: In half way.

Wedding Ring on or Off: On.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.
What I Miss: Being able to workout, being a busy body and not relying on everyone for everything.  I am such a control freak that this part is been a bit hard for me.  But I was told to enjoy it, so I am trying to let people spoil me.
What I am Looking Forward to: Decorating the nursery even more, finishing the mobiles, going to watch the Wolf Pack this weekend and the Fall storm that is expected this weekend.
Labor Signs: We have some Braxton Hicks contractions going on, but no signs of labor.  Thank the heavens for that.
Nursery: We have painted the room and we are setting up the cribs this weekend (well my husband is and I will just manage the project).
Emotions: This week has been a bit rough as I overdid it in all aspects of life, but I am starting to take it easy, put my feet up and take care of these girls.  Next up, the awful glucose test this Friday or Saturday.  Please oh please let me pass and not have to go to the three hour one.  And please give me some good news as this momma has been a bit scared all week.

To Cut Or Not to Cut and 22 Weeks!

I know I am a day late on this bump/pregnancy update, but I had to get my weekend recap out yesterday. So you get the bump update with details on my perinatal appointment yesterday.

But first I wanted to ask your opinion on something that has been bothering me.  My hair.  Everyone says pregnancy brings long gorgeous locks of hair and my hair looks like a mess.  My doctor said it is from the babies taking most of the vitamins and nutrients that it leaves me with the small amount.  That is also why my gums bleed when I brush my teeth, I get some acne, red splotches on my face and shoulders, etc.  So basically my hair falls out twice as much as normal when I brush/blow dry my hair, looks like straw and just blah.  I am over it.

I have been looking around at something I can do at my hair appointment tomorrow, but I know dyeing the whole head isn't an option, more down the lines of a cut.  I think (because sometimes pregnant women are irrational, gasp) I want to cut it, but I have been growing it out for so long.  I love some of the Fall looks out there and want it, but fear I would be upset later on that I cut my precious locks.  But then again, I haven't changed my hair in over a year (I got a sort of changed hair cut after our wedding).

My hair looks great after getting ready in the morning, but then flattens out to stick to my head (even if I brush it), looks stringy and overall just not what I want.  So I have found a few pictures of the style I am liking right now.  The Long Bob, or lob for short.  I like that it is still long enough, can be put in a ponytail and will get rid of my awful dead ends.  But will I miss this hair I have been growing out for over a year?

So this is where you all come in.  I need your opinion.  My husband doesn't want to tell me one way or another because he doesn't want me to blame him if it is the wrong choice and it is women's hair.  He said men shouldn't comment or make decisions on something as special to a woman as their hair.  So what do you think?
Left: Front  Right: Back
The Lob

So what do you ladies think?  Cut it, keep it, get a major trim, something completely different?  I need your opinions, so please fire away.

Now onto the babies...Last appointment we were told there was a bit too much amniotic fluid surrounding the babies.  So it has been two and a half weeks and this is the latest update on the babies.

So update on the babies.  They are growing and looking great.  Baby A weighs 1 pound 3 ounces and Baby B weighs 1 pound 2 ounces.  There is still a lot of fluid, but not enough for a major concern.  I still have to go to the perinatal every two weeks to monitor their growth, monitor the fluid and make sure one isn't stealing from the other.  They had a 4% growth difference which is great.  It needs to be under 20%.  Baby A had a bit more fluid, but nothing to be concerned about.  So it was a successful appointment.  Plus I realized I am having contractions, but painless and not that often.  And this is common.  I didn't know what to feel and low and behold I had one at my appointment, so my doctor could point it out.  Now to just monitor myself and the babies.

How far along: 22 weeks, 1 day
Babies are the size of a: Ear of corn/Spaghetti Squash.
Babies are: The babies are starting to look like miniature newborns now.  Their lips, eyelids and  eyebrows are becoming more distinctive and their tiny tooth buds are starting to form under their gums.  Their eyes have formed, but there is no distinctive color to them yet.  Will they be blue, green, blue/green or brown?

Babies are around 11 inches and 1 pound each.  My how they have grown.  Now it is time for the babies to pack on the fat and get all cute and develop those baby rolls.  Babies are sleeping about 12 to 14 hours per day and when they aren't, they are kicking away in mommy's belly.
Maternity Clothes: Mostly maternity and still some shirts (and a pair of dress pants) non-maternity.  But I am not so patiently waiting for my new dress pants to come in the mail today/tomorrow so I can be comfortable at work.
Stretch Marks: None and they better stay away, though my belly has been itching more and I fear the stretch marks.  I can't get enough lotion/body butter.
Sleep: Pretty good.  I slept in everyday on vacation and it felt amazing.   But now we are back to the daily grind which means less sleep.  Though the pee breaks are down to two a night.
Symptoms: Backaches, sneezing and tired.  I can tell I am growing more and more because I need those back and feet rubs like no one's business.
Best Moment of the Week:  Watching our cousin marry his best friend and spending time with family.  Oh and my brother and sister in law move to the West Coast this week!
Movement: These babies went from none to moving like crazy.  They love to dance in momma's belly and my husband finally felt them move on the airplane.  Big ole thumps and he loved it.
Cravings: Fruit, pizza, ice cream.  Same as always.  And lots of ice cream this week was had.
Gender: Two precious baby girls.
Belly Button In or Out: In half way.  My belly button looks funny.  Plain and simple.
Wedding Ring on or Off: On.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.
What I Miss: Alcohol.  Lots of yummy drinks were had by all my family and friends this weekend.  Not that I was jealous or anything, hahaha.
What I am Looking Forward to: Painting the girls room this weekend and decorating more.
Labor Signs: Not even close.
Nursery: I need to finish the mobiles, pick the color for the room (down to three) and paint this weekend.
Emotions:I am feeling really good right now.  Haven't had any big emotional cries lately.  I cried a bit at the wedding, during some speeches and while watching The Lone Survivor on the airplane, but other than that, all happy momma here.

Can you believe we are already half way through and time is flying by.  The doctor hopes to have me delivered by 37 or 38 weeks, so that means only 15 or 16 weeks left.  So crazy.   Bake in there as long as you can babies.  Momma wants to wait to see you until end of January or beginning of February.  Thank you.

21 Weeks

So I told you all I traveled last week and since this is pregnancy related, I thought it was best to share here.  Remember when I told you my flights from two trips ago to Philly area and Jacksonville area were awful?  Feel free to read this part if you need to catch up.  Well I can say that this last trip to LA and New Orleans was so much better.

I took my own advice and wore leggings, a soft tank, over sized sweater and toms on the plane.  So much better.  I could breathe, didn't feel like my jeans were slicing my stomach open and overall felt more comfortable.  And as for the pillow situation, I found a pillow that we use as decoration and brought it on the plane with me.  It is about 12 inches long and not super thick.  I put this baby behind my back and was gold even on a 4 hour flight.  Now I just need to remember to get up more often.  I got up, but not as often as I should I guess.  Overall, my flights were better.  And since my husband will be on this flight with me, no need to worry about lifting my luggage onto the scale, from the carousel or in/out of the car.

Plus I get to wear some fall maternity clothes I have been dying to wear.  Did I just get excited about maternity clothes?  Wow so much has changed.   I have two awesome maternity dresses (that don't look like maternity) for the rehearsal dinner and the wedding.  I have my boots, fall sweaters and jeans all set out for this trip.  I am really looking forward to seeing this part of New Jersey.

Hopefully I can tackle a few other posts today for the next few days since I will be out of town and busy.  But for now, onto the pregnancy/bump update.

How far along: 21 weeks
Babies are the size of a:Pomegranate. And the length of a carrot.  Babies are around 10.5 inches (via TheBump.com) and weighing in around 12.7 ounces each.  I would guess one is and one is a bit more.
Babies are: "Gulping down amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition.  And their taste buds actually work!  Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid.  Meaning, think about what you want your future children to eat as you prepare your own lunch."
Maternity Clothes: Wearing a lot more, but still am wearing non maternity stuff.  Especially over sized shirts, tanks and one last pair of dress pants.
Stretch Marks: None yet thankfully and hope they never show up.
Sleep: Decent.  I have been waking up around 3 to 4 times per night to pee and it's getting tougher to get out of bed on my own.
Symptoms: Backaches and we are back to the bloody noses.  Thankfully no allergies with it.
Best Moment of the Week:Hanging out with our friends Nick and Nathalie.  It has been way too long and Nathalie got tons of time with the babies.  She loved touching my belly, seeing the nursery progress and hearing everything and anything baby related.
Movement: We have movement folks.  I felt them for the first time last Thursday and now they are moving like crazy.  I love it!!
Cravings: Fruit, pizza, ice cream.  Same as always.
Gender: Two precious baby girls.
Belly Button In or Out: In half way.  My belly button looks very awkward...especially when I laugh.
Wedding Ring on or Off: On.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.
What I Miss: Wine.  And poached eggs.
What I am Looking Forward to: Our trip back east tomorrow! And feeling the babies move more.
Labor Signs: Not even close.
Nursery: I started making their nursery mobiles.  They are so cute.  I need more ribbon, but they are coming along.  Plus we are asking everyone who comes over to pick their color of choice for the girls room.  Painting to commence in a week and a half ish.
Emotions: Feeling pretty good.  Haven't cried this week (yet), but I know I will at the wedding.  I am really full of love and happiness right now.  I will take it!

And there you have it.  Baby updates are done for this week and I managed at least two posts so far.  I call that a win for the week.  Hope to have more ready for you all.

20 Weeks

Greetings from LA, soon to be New Orleans, I hope. Right now I am delayed in LA and have a short layover that I may not make. Fingers crossed.

We are at the half way mark theoretically if we were having one baby, but since we are having two, we hit that a week or so ago. The doctors say the babies look great, all organs are perfect, all tests look great and they measured in at 10 oz and 11 oz as of Friday. The only thing of worry is my uterus is grown more than normal which means there is more amniotic fluid then they like to see. So we have to be monitored more, I have to cut my workouts even more and make sure I get lots of rest for these little girls.

Now onto the update...
(I have a photo I will upload later when I have use of a computer and not just my iPhone and iPad.)

How far along: 20 weeks
Babies are the size of a: Endive/Banana. Babies are about 6 1/2 inches from head to bottom and 10 inches from head to heel. Babies are at least 10 and 11 ounces, but most likely bigger now.
Babies are: Swallowing more which is good practice for the digestive system. They are producing meconium which is basically their digestive waste, but don't worry, it most likely won't come out until we change their first diapers.
Maternity Clothes: I am wearing more and more, but still some non maternity clothes.
Stretch Marks: None yet thankfully and hope they never show up.
Sleep: Pretty good. Especially in the big comfy king bed I have had all to myself on my trip.
Symptoms: Backaches, swollen feet and ankles.
Best Moment of the Week: Seeing the babies growth and hearing their organs are perfect! Also our weekend trip to Cali.
Movement: Nothing.  Doctor said anytime though.
What I Miss: My husband and dog.
What I am Looking Forward to: Getting to New Orleans and exploring the city and amazing food. I can't wait for beignets.
Labor Signs: Not even close.
Nursery: We picked out some colors for the walls, painted samples and now are trying to figure out which works best.  So hard to choose.
Emotions: Feeling pretty good. I got to see my best friend in LA both nights and we talked for hours. Plus she saw the bump.

19 Weeks

It's time for another bump update and this time I actually have a picture.  Plus I should have pictures for next week as I am going out of town this weekend which means my husband can play photographer.  I just need to be good and get some posts done this week for next week since I will be traveling for work again.  Where am I going you ask?  Palm Springs/Palm Desert and New Orleans, LA.  I CAN.NOT.WAIT.  I have never been to New Orleans and I am dying to have some amazing southern food (fried, creole, beignets, etc.).

Anyways, onto the bump/pregnancy update.
Babies and boobs are getting huge.

How far along: 19 weeks
Babies are the size of a: Zucchini/Heirloom Tomato/Mango.  Babies are about 6 inches long and 8.5 ounces each.  We had an ultrasound/anatomy scan yesterday and things are looking great.  Babies are measuring big and look to be perfect.  We have another growth scan on Friday with our perinatal doctor, so more pictures and more baby info.
Babies are:  Developing a protective coating over their skin, called vernix caseosa.  They are also developing/working on their five senses.
Maternity Clothes: I wear some and still rock some non-maternity clothes.
Stretch Marks: None yet thankfully and hope they never show up.
Sleep: So-so because I have some allergies that are making my life miserable.  Anyone know of medicine I can take?
Symptoms: Allergies, backaches and swollen feet and ankles.
Best Moment of the Week: Seeing our babies on the ultrasound moving and shaking.  Plus having dinner with friends who also have twin baby girls.  So informative and fun.
Movement: Nothing.  I was told that it might not happen for a few more weeks since there are twins in there.  Get to moving babies.
Cravings: Fruit, pizza, ice cream.  Same as always.
Gender: Two precious baby girls.
Belly Button In or Out: In half way.  My belly button looks very awkward...especially when I laugh.
Wedding Ring on or Off: On and looking pretty.  I finally got my ring checked for any loose diamonds, polished and cleaned.  Looks brand new.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.
What I Miss: Wine, especially on dinner nights with my girlfriends.
What I am Looking Forward to: Going to San Jose for the Nevada vs. San Jose State football game and having a weekend with my husband.  This much travel and I really miss him.
Labor Signs: Not even close.
Nursery: We picked out some colors for the walls, painted samples and now are trying to figure out which works best.  So hard to choose.
Emotions: Feeling ok.  These allergies are killing me and making it hard to function.  Ugh, go away allergies.  But other than that, I am feeling pretty good and no emotional meltdowns so far.

18 Weeks...Almost Half Way There.

I actually have a baby update post on time this week. Sorry for the lack of week 17 as I was traveling and never wrote the post beforehand.  I am sure you were all so sad that it never made it live.

I can tell you my bump has grown a ton over the last couple weeks.  I feel huge, but I am really loving it.  Now only if I could get these little babies to kick and let me feel it.

How far along: 18 weeks
Babies are the size of a: Bell Pepper/Sweet Potato.  Babies are about 5.6 inches long and 6.7 ounces each.  We have a growth appointment next week to really see how many inches and how many ounces they are.
Babies are:  passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing.  (I saw them on the ultrasound this week and found this to be VERY true.  They were moving and shaking their little butts.)
Maternity Clothes:  I caved and bought a few things on my trip and plan to get more this week.  So far I bought a pair of jeans (with the band that goes over the bump.  Never thought that would happen.), some shirts, a sweater and two dresses.
Stretch Marks: None yet thankfully and hope they never show up.
Sleep: Pretty good this week since my husband is on a trip and I have the bed to myself, oh and a little cute pup, but he sleeps on his dads side now.
Symptoms: Bloody noses (really bad one this morning), allergies, backaches and swollen feet and ankles.  I wore heels for the first time in weeks yesterday and I could barely walk when I took them off.  My feet swell a bit everyday.  Ugh.
Best Moment of the Week: Seeing our little babies on the ultrasound and finding out/confirming what they are.  I can't wait to share.  What do you all think they are?
Movement: Nothing that I know of, but my momma friends say I probably have and thought it was gas.  Come on babies, move so I can really feel you.
Cravings: Fruit, pizza, ice cream.
Gender: We know and are sharing this weekend.
Belly Button In or Out: In half way.  My belly button looks very awkward...especially when I laugh.
Wedding Ring on or Off: On and actually looser.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.
What I Miss: Not always feeling so full and my bikini body.
What I am Looking Forward to: Friends visiting this weekend, my husband coming home and buying tons of clothes at a baby event on Thursday with my mom.
Labor Signs: Not even close.
Nursery: We can start working on the nursery now.  I can't wait to paint and decorate.
Emotions: Feeling pretty good other than being sad that my husband is gone on a work trip.  If I travel for work, I am good to go, but when he leaves, I am so sad.  Dang pregnancy hormones.

I promise a picture this weekend when my husband is home and can take one of me.  I am so bad at selfies, I don't even want to try it again.  Sorry.

Bump Update - 12 Weeks

Thank you all for your kind words here on this blog, on Instagram and Facebook.  We feel beyond blessed to have all this support and love.
Little munchins at 9 weeks 5 days.  They are waving to you all.

I figured I would copy my favorite bloggers out there and do a weekly (hopefully) baby/bump update.  I hope to put these up every Wednesday, so feel free to stay away then if you are not into all things baby.

Whoever said first time moms (FTMs) don't show until 18ish weeks lied.  Or maybe it is because there are twins in there.  But here is my bump at 12 weeks.

How far along: 12 weeks, 1 day
Babies are the size of a: Ripe Apricot/Lime.  They are just over 2 inches long each and weigh half an ounce each.
Maternity Clothes: Not yet.  Thankfully, but the bump is starting to show and it looks more like I ate way too many donuts than a cute little baby bump.
Stretch Marks: Nothing yet and I hope it stays that way.  Any amazing products I should consider using daily?
Sleep: Pretty good, but I wake up a couple times a night to pee.  And I think I need to buy a pregnancy pillow soon.
Symptoms: Headaches and a touch of morning sickness.
Best Moment of the Week: Announcing to extended family, friends and my bloggy buddies.
Movement: Nothing yet, but I can't wait to feel them move around.
Cravings: Watermelon.  I can't get enough.
Gender: Hoping for a boy and girl, but still don't know.
Belly Button In or Out: In
Wedding Ring on or Off: On
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Microwaving fish (who does this at work? Ugh).
What I Miss: A big glass of wine.  I missed the biggest glass of wine in my life on my birthday.  I am a bit dramatic over it.
What I am Looking Forward to: Feeling the babies move and finding out their genders.
Labor Signs: Not even close.
Nursery: Still have no concrete ideas until we know the genders.
Emotions: Super emotional this week.  I swear everything happy and sad gets to me.  I read about a dog's last day alive and I couldn't stop crying (at work).  I watch sappy movies, cry.  Oh Lovely hormones.
