Baby Girls are 8 Months!

I know I am a few days late, but I finally got around to writing about the girls being 8 months. I am usually on top of my game, but not this time. And can I just say how hard it is to get the girls to sit still, take photos, actually smile and look at the camera. Getting harder each month. Not the best photos, but nevertheless still cute.

Our girls are growing up so fast. This month has been by far the biggest changes for the girls (in our opinion).

nicknames: Avery: Avery Girl, Avey, Bunny, Chunky Monkey  Sutton: Sutton Muffin, Sutte, Bear Cub, Little Miss

weight: Avery was weighed a week and a half ago at the pediatrician (for her tear duct check up) and she weighed 15 pounds 8 ounces, so I am guessing she is over 16 pounds now. Sutton hasn't been weighed recently, but if her sister is over 16 pounds, she is either right there or just under. My girls are getting so big!

sleep: The girls have been sleeping so much better lately (don't want to jinx it). Sutton has been sleeping through the night consistently, and Avery has been waking up once or twice for her paci and then right back to sleep. Sometimes she self soothes (puts her own paci in or calms herself down too) and other times we are up at it. Naps are a whole different story. When they are at daycare they will take several small naps or an occasional 2 hour nap. When they are at home, they will sleep for 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours twice a day and maybe a small cat nap here and there. It used to be opposite, and I think the girls are just wanting to be up with all the other kids at daycare. It's a work in progress.

eats: this month has been so much better for purees for Miss Avery. Last month she didn't have much interest in food other than her bottles, but this month, girlfriend has upped her game. She LOVES sweet potatoes. Sutton still loves purees. The girls have had carrots, sweet potatoes, apple sauce, pears, squash, peas, green beans (hated them), avocado (hated it when it is by itself, but loves it mixed with other things), kiwi, spinach, mango, orange (mixed), pineapple (mixed), raspberry (mixed) and banana.

As for milk, they still get one breast milk bottle a day (currently). I have been weaning over the last month, so they had mostly breast milk until the last week where they got more formula than milk. They have milk 5 times a day with 190 mls per bottle.

loves: Sutton: Baby girl loves to sit up now. She would rather sit up and see the world then lay down. She loves sitting, then lowering herself to the ground and slowly bringing herself back up. She has some strong ab muscles. She has been using her hands to grab everything in sight and then puts it all into her mouth. She is turning around (her body) when sitting up to see more things and has gotten into the crawl position (but more on accident). She loves chewing on blankets, her WubbaNub, her teething toys and her hands. She has learned to throw things (especially her WubbaNub) and also puts her paci back in her mouth now. She holds her bottle almost every feeding now. Sutton loves being outside. She loves going on walks in her Ergo carrier and the beach. Sutton loves scooting and rolling around. When you put her over your legs, she will be in the crawling position for a long time. She just hasn't figured out what to do next. I think it is time to baby proof soon. Sutton loves raspberries on her tummy, bath time, getting her diaper changed, waking up in the morning and snuggles. Sutton loves to babble and scream! Sutton is just the sweetest baby.

Avery: Avery Girl loves to talk. She will babble all day long. She is also a big squealer. Girl has some lungs on her. Avery also loves to sit. She would rather sit than lay down. But when she is laying down, she is always on her side. She loves to roll and scoot around and will be mobile anytime now. Avery loves her toys. She loves chewing on them, waving them around and throwing them. She loves to droll and put everything in her mouth. She loves to chew on her blanket tags, her hands, her paci and toys. Avery loves to hold her bottle and be very independent, but when she sees her momma, she lights up and wants all the snuggles. Avery still loves to pester her sister. She loves to try to chew on her sisters leg, steal her toys, hold her hand and just be around Sutton. Avery loves getting her diaper changed, playing airplane, raspberries on her tummy, bath time and cuddles from her daddy. Avery is such a fun and sweet baby!

dislikes: Avery does not like getting up in the morning. Sutton is a morning girl, but if you wake up Avery, she will cry and scream until she gets her bottle. Girlfriend hates the mornings. The girls started to hate their helmets the last week they were wearing them, so they are pretty happy to have them off. The girls also hate waiting for their food. And with their teething in full force (when will those first teeth finally pop through), they get grumpy.

clothing size: They are wearing 6 month clothing and even a few 6 to 9 month items.

diaper size: Size 2, but we have size 3 on order for September.

Baby girls, I can't believe you are 8 months already. You are growing so fast, changing daily and we fall more in love with you two each day. You are the light of our lives and have forever changed us. We love you baby girls.

Love, Mommy and Daddy

  1. I can't believe it's been 8 months! They are too precious. Those eyes...they're killer.
I don't want to wish time away but I can't wait until my babes can sit up on their own! Fynnlee is desperately trying to flip over but no luck yet. Greyson could care less and is just happy to lay on his back and suck on his feet. I'm sure it'll all happen super fast though!

    1. I love their eyes! Such piercing and big eyes. I agree about not wanting to wish time away, but I was right where you are. I wanted the girls to sit up so they could see everything more and not get so crabby when we would lay them down. They just want to see, touch and be a part of everything and it is harder to do that while laying down. Now that they can sit, it is getting better. Next up is crawling. So excited and scared at the same time. The rolling will come, like super fast and then they might not do it as much. My girls roll, but they scoot more now. And FYI, your profile is private, so I can't get to your blog or email.

  2. Boy oh boy are they cute! Your husband is in double trouble once they start dating, haha! So glad to hear that they are sleeping well. That is always a relief. Keep those beautiful photos coming and happy 8 months to your sweethearts!
