Week of Sports

Do you know how hard it is to go to the gym after a vacation week?  A week where cake and pie were consumed as often as any other food group?  It.Was.Hard.  I managed to only make it to the gym three times this week (which was a feat compared to last week) and walk Walter every day this week.  Getting on the treadmill and running...I felt like a lard ass who could barely complete a 5k.  I only thought about food the entire time and what dinner reward I would get if I could even complete the run.

As the week went on, it got a bit easier and I even played some basketball with my hubs.  Ok I kept taking shots (not the alcohol, I wish) and he would rebound the ball for me.  But I proved to him that I never lost my basketball skills and he was impressed.  Why haven't we done that before?  Now I want a basketball hoop at home.

In typical Danielle fashion, I announced to my husband that I wanted to do Tough Mudder this year in Lake Tahoe.  He said no he wouldn't do it with me, and I told him that was fine, I could do it with others.  I got myself all pumped up about it, only to find out it is during my anniversary weekend (August 16th and 17th).  We are in San Francisco that weekend taking in a Giants game, eating coupious amounts of stellar food, eating wedding and shopping my little butt off.  So I guess it has to wait another year which is probably a good thing since I haven't started training yet.  I will do the Tough Mudder next year.  I WILL.

In other sports news, I didn't watch any of the World Cup.  My husband did last Saturday while I read a book.  I used to play soccer as a kid, watch my ex boyfriend in high school play, but that is about as far as my soccer love goes.  I do check ESPN for updates on who won because I love the USA and want them to win, but sadly I didn't care like most others did.

And in other, other sports news, I watched a bit of the NBA draft last night.  Gasp, I know.  I hate NBA and only have a love for college basketball.  But there was a good chance that Deonte Burton from Nevada (where I went to school and have season tickets) would be drafted in the second round.  Well once again NBA proved why I hate them so much, and he didn't get drafted.  Psh, don't you remember how many times this kid has been featured on Sports Center for best plays of the week?  So many.  This kid can dunk.

Sadly as I said, he wasn't drafted.  But I have faith a team will pick him up.

41 days until the first pre season San Francisco 49ers game (I'll take pre season over nothing).
64 days until the first Nevada Wolf Pack football game.  Southern Utah vs. Nevada.

A Night with Peyton Manning

This morning I received this email.

An exclusive invitation to meet Peyton Manning on July 20th in Denver.  Sign me up!  Oh wait, it is in Denver which requires either a 16 hour drive or a $500 plane ticket.  Then I would have to stay at the Ritz Carlton in Denver (where the event is located), but the hotel is included in the experience for ONE night (additional nights are $650 per night. OUCH).  This once in a lifetime event costs $799 per couple including dinner, drinks and a gift.  Is it too early to ask for this for my birthday in August?  Ya I don't think my husband will go for this.  He doesn't love Peyton Manning like I do.  I guess I will just settle with cuddling my signed football by Peyton Manning.

Speaking of sports, the Giants are still first in the entire league, but there three loses (as of Thursday am) to the Nationals are killing it for them.  Have they peaked?  I hope not.  Let's repeat the every other year World Series (2010, 2012 and hopefully 2014).

Another sports related thing.  There are 55 days until the first game (only preseason, but I will take it) for the 49ers.  Aww football is so close I can taste it.  Only 78 days until Nevada Wolf Pack football starts.

I am so thankful that it is Friday, we are finally having air conditioning installed after being at our house for five years (last year was harsh with 100 degree temperatures and massive fires) and my vacation starts in a few hours.

I will still post next week (sparsely), but I am co-hosting a giveaway with a few ladies and can't wait to share it with you all.  Stay tuned.  The giveaway goes live Monday June 16th.

No Money and Dress Problems

Happy Friday All!  First off, I want to say thank you to Sarah and Helene for putting on the first #TotalSocial yesterday.  The response was huge, the traffic on my page was huge and I found some new awesome blogs/friends.  So a big thank you!

Do you ever have those days where your brain can't seem to function and you don't have any ideas to write about?  Yep right here.  I think the only thing on my mind right now is getting off work (a little over two hours left) and finding a dress for my sister-in-laws wedding.

Did you know that Anthropologie charges $11 for shipping something that weighs next to nothing?  Yep.  Trying to find something else instead of this beautiful dress.  Ok it is second choice because the one I am dying to have, is sold out in my size.  Why isn't there an Anthropologie here?

 Or this gorgeous pretty.

Why must everything be so dang expensive?  The search continues....and I have less than a month.

All of this shopping makes me want a nice margarita that Sarah featured on her blog today.  Is it happy hour yet?

Dear Friday

Join me in Fan Friday Link Up with Sarah and Nicole.  Nicole guest posted a list of 25 things she is a huge fan of and we should be too.  She has some awesome items on that list like #3 and #24.  I am going to go down a different route and do more of a Dear Friday post.  So...

Dear Friday, I am so thankful this week is over and I can look forward to sleeping in this weekend.  I have been way beyond tired this week.  Dear Golf, please be kind to me today and allow me to beat not look like a fool on the course.  Dear Weather, please don't rain/snow in Wisconsin or Minnesota next week.  I can't handle anymore cold weather.  Dear Husband, I can't tell you how excited I am for this weekends adventures...buying a new BBQ and oven (almost as awesome as buying the vacuum a few months back), watching the Wolf Pack football team practice, buying more items for my CaraBox recipient and spending Easter with my family.  Dear Walter, momma is going to miss you so much next week that I best get some extra cuddle time in this weekend.  And last but not least, Dear Giants, thank you for taking the series against the Dodgers.  You are well on your way (let's hope even though the season just started) to the World Series AGAIN!
Thanksgiving Golf Tournament (Las Vegas 2012) Me: Winners Team Husband: Losers Team (notice his toilet golf trophy)
Let's hope my golf skills match this game (Hawaiian Honeymoon 2013)

Finally Friday!

And today is a very special birthday...my beautiful mother's birthday.  Happy Birthday Mom!  I plan to eat a cupcake or three today in your honor.

Also it is Fan Friday Link Up and I haven't participated in one in forever.  Can I get a shout out for opening baseball week, my SF Giants being 3-1 and pulling out a win last night?!

I CAN NOT wait until my first Giants game of the season which will be in a little over a month.  I am so happy I have baseball to get me through the sports lull until football season.  Maybe another Giants appearance in the World Series?  I probably just jinxed them on that one.

Happy Friday!

Super Bowl Fan Friday Edition

Guess what day it is?  Friday!  That means Fan Friday Link-up, and this week is one of my favorites.  Super Bowl edition.

It is very known how much I love football. I live, eat and breathe football.  I get pumped when Spring practice starts.   I stalk the Niner Nation blog.  I play Fantasy Football, and I secretly wish I was an NFL star.  Plus I may know more about NFL football than my husband and many guy friends do.  But my husband definitely knows more about college football then myself.

Sometimes I get upset that I can't play football.  Like the real deal football, not touch or flag football.  I think it would amazing to play quarterback or almost any offensive position.  To be able to strong arm the defender as I run the touchdown in and win the game.  Aww the life.  Then I can make up some awesome touchdown dance which will be featured all over ESPN.  Hello Colin Kaepernick.  I definitely heart you and my husband knows this.

But since I can't play the real deal and be a big NFL superstar, I will settle for being Erin Andrews Part 2.  She has my dream job.  Oh what I would give to have her job.  Maybe I should have went to school for Journalism.  So failed on that one.

But when it comes down to it all, I can't wait for this weekend, but I also don't want it to be here.  Super Bowl means the end of football for what seems like forever, or until August.  It means no more lazy Sundays in my Niners sweats cheering my team on.  No more anxiety induced panic attacks during nail bitter games (hello Niners vs. Seahawks, Packers, Panthers).  No more Monday Night Football outings with my friends.  And no more games to attend at Candlestick Park.

So I bid adieu to football after this glorious weekend until August.  May the best team win.  That means the Broncos and Peyton Manning...who will get the MVP this year!  Count on it.

Friday Never Felt So Good

First off, I have a big announcement (ok it is big to me, but maybe not to you) coming next week, so get excited, or not.

Second, In honor of Sarah's Fan Friday (seriously go check out her blog...AMAZING), I am so excited to tell you all I will be getting away this weekend.  To where you ask?  I am going to San Francisco to see my (yes I feel like I own them, but really don't) favorite football team play.  I will be watching the lovely Colin Kaepernick (holla fellow University of Nevada alumni), Frank Gore (please have a good game for my fantasy football team), Mario Manningham (I hope you make your come back debut this weekend) and the Niners defense.  Excited doesn't even begin to describe it.

Every year I am fortunate enough to go watch the Niners for free (well sort of) courtesy of my husbands aunt and uncle.  This year we are watching the Niners take on the Panthers.  I get to watch Scam Newton try (but that won't happen) to take the Niners down in the beloved craphole Candlestick park one last time.  I am so happy for the Niners and their new stadium in Santa Clara.  Now to decide which game to go to next year.
So Tuesday except a full recap unless we lose and I cry like a baby in the corner and don't want to blog about it.  Oh and wine tasting at my favorite winery this weekend. So stoked.
