We had a pretty good weekend. The weather was very Spring like with many showers, but we made the most of it and got outside in between the rain showers.
Friday morning I dropped the girls off at school around 7 am and went in to have a Mother's Day brunch with them. At first they were scared that they would be taking photos with the Easter bunny or Santa (that is the room they usually take photos in), but once they learned they would be taking them with me, they got excited. We took some photos and then had some scones, coffee, yogurt and fruit. Then the girls gave me the cutest Mother's Day crafts.
Friday after work, I headed out to lunch for a salad and then to Target. I spent an hour and a half there and it felt like 15 minutes. I had to get birthday gifts, some shorts for the girls, some tolietries, cereal and some dog treats (Milkbone dental chews). Plus I looked at the dresses that were buy one get one 50% off.
After Target, I picked up the girls and took them to a park near our house, but the swinging area was flooded since it rained earlier in the day. So we loaded back up and headed to another park. It was just me and the girls there along with a couple other kids. We spent about an hour there before it got really windy and started to rain again.
We left and headed home to use the bathroom and wash our hands before heading out to dinner. Rory was golfing, so it was just the girls and I. I took them to a place that has really good mac n cheese (for them) and an amazing bbq burger for myself. I let the girls watch some Frozen on my phone while I caught the hockey game.
After dinner, we went home and I got the girls ready for bed. Then we watched a little Mickey Mouse Club House and then I put them down just after 7:30. Rory got home not much later and we decided to watch the first episode of WestWorld. We heard so many good things about it, so we had to check out the series premiere.
Saturday morning we got up and lazied around the house. I did some major cleaning since I didn't want to do any of that on Mother's Day. Around 10 am, my in-laws came over to game plan a new fence for our yard. We want to give the girls more play area in the backyard. We also went over some updates we want to do to the bathrooms.
We left around 11 am to grab a quick lunch which ended up taking longer than we anticipated. But we hurried home, changed the girls into their mermaid leggings and went to my friend's twins 4th birthday party. It was themed mermaids and pirates and they went all out on the party. They had a bounce house, walking the plank, a candy bar, two pinatas, bbqed food and so much more. The girls were a bit shy, but they had a blast. They missed out on naps since the party was during naptime. They did a pretty good job, but were pretty tired throughout the evening.
After the party, we drove home and the girls were tired, but didn't want to nap. I gave them their second bath for the day since Sutton had candy in her hair. After baths, we hung out and then decided to get some pizza. It was rainy out and we didn't want to cook. Plus the girls were tired and we didn't want them to wait for dinner. The girls went to bed early that night. They were fast asleep at 7 pm.
After they went to bed, we watched some shows on our dvr, folded laundry and finished up some chores around the house.
Sunday morning I got to sleep in. Rory got the girls up and they let me sleep until 7:20 am. This may not seem late, but it was sleeping in for me when I am at home. It was glorious. Once I got up, we got ready and headed out to Mother's Day brunch with my in-laws.
After brunch, we went to the park to let the girls burn off some energy.
The girls sweaters are from Mexico and seriously so cute (and handmade)
It was starting to rain again, so we headed home. The girls brought me out my gift together and it was soooo cute. They each carried a side of the bag. They got me the Allbirds Tree Loungers that I wanted. These shoes are amazing. You don't have to wear socks with them, they are unbelievably comfy, they are breathable and soooo light.
At 5 pm, I started making dinner, pasta with asparagus and pancetta along with a salad. The girls were big eaters and were soooo good at dinner. After cleaning up, I headed out to take Walter on a walk before the rain came again. It was nice to get out when I did. It smelt like rain, the sun was setting and was a perfect evening.
The girls went down quickly again as they were soooo tired. Once they were down, we relaxed, drank some wine and enjoyed the rest of the evening. It was an amazing Mother's Day.
