Onto the favorites, highlights and happenings of the week:
ONE. I saw this on Biana's blog this week (her travel favorites) and I am dying to try it. It is perfect for Mexico and will keep me from putting on heavy foundation. This will cover my face and it has SPF 50 in it. Total win. It is a little pricey, but I am hoping to try out the travel size first. Thoughts? Have you tried it?
TWO. The new Oreo Cookie Candy Bar. I was in the South last week and I kept hearing ads for the Oreo cookie candy bar and I wanted to buy one so badly. But every time I stopped at a gas station, I never went inside to buy one. Then I was at the airport and thought great idea. But I am not spending over two dollars on it. So I will wait until I make a Target trip this weekend and get one. I LOVE oreos. It is my blizzard of choice at DQ and my cookie choice throughout the year (if I don't make them). Have you tried this baby?
THREE. So I got sick when I was out of town last week and I just couldn't shake it. I was taking Dayquil and Nyquil and drinking a ton of water. By Wednesday, I couldn't take it anymore. I was about to call my doctor when I was online seeing how much money was left on my health savings card and I saw a new online doctor program. I was skeptical about it, but I watched a bunch of videos and did some research (in true Danielle fashion) and thought why not? It was only $40 which saves a lot compared to my high deductible insurance plan (we pay a cash price at the doctor to see him which is almost $90 per visit). If it didn't work and they had to send me to the doctor, I would be reimbursed. Plus my insurance encourages us to use it.
My symptoms matched the ones that they can treat, so I made an appointment, went into an open office at my work and had a 15 minute evaluation with the doctor. It is on video and they ask you questions, have you open your mouth and bring it up to the camera, turn the volume up on the microphone and have you breath into the talking piece.
It was quick, painless and I was able to do it while at work. So cool and easy. What was not cool is that I have bronchitis, which is what I thought I had. I have to take cough medicine and use an inhaler with a steroid in it. And it is viral, so not much else can be done. She encouraged me to walk on the treadmill and take a hot shower after due to the steam. She said the fast paced walking will help strengthen my lung muscles. But don't overdo it.
Not sure if it is for everyone or even for most of my appointments, but it got the job done this time.
FOUR. So we all know that I am going to Mexico very soon, but what I haven't shared is that Rory and I will be staying in Sayulita for a night while we are there. My in-laws have said they would watch the girls overnight while we make the hour trip up north to have time alone. We are going Wednesday to Thursday (super quick), but it will be worth it. I found a hotel that had great reviews, is on the water and in the center of town.
Sayulita is a surf town and I think it should be a lot of fun. Rory has friends who live there and we hope to see them. Also Sayulita is where they film Bachelor in Paradise. One of the recommended hotels was the actual filming location. But nope. Don't think I want to stay in one of those rooms. And they don't film there until May, so no we won't see any sneak peaks.
We will be there for part of Rory's birthday which should be fun and then we will take the bus/taxi back to PV to have dinner with my in-laws and the girls for Rory's birthday. I can't wait!!!
FIVE. What do you all think of this velvet bomber jacket? I have been going back and forth on it for months. I love the looks of a bomber jacket and almost got one a few weeks ago, but the price held me back. This one is on sale for $29, but I still can't seem to pull the trigger. Maybe it is because I can't try it on? Or with summer approaching (will it ever be here?) I won't get much use out of it and then the look will be "outdated". So what do you all think?
Have a good weekend all!
I am linking up with April, A Little Bit of Everything, Karli, Meet @ the Barre and Cup of Tea.

Get the bomber jacket, SO cute!! I love Oreos too and had no idea those bars existed-yum! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love Oreos and have heard about the candy bar, but haven't found one to try. Not sure how I feel about an Oreo candy bar. Ha ha! I'm glad you were able to get to the doctor quick and get things checked out. Mexico is so close. Yay!
ReplyDeleteSo fun that you have a trip to look forward to and a night alone! I'm sure it'll be fun, especially once you've kicked the bronchitis!
ReplyDeleteI have that It cosmetics face stuff. I like it ok. I can't tell you what I don't love though so that's a good sign haha. Mexico is so close and going to be so fun!! And I'm saying no on the velvet bomber jacket hahah. I don't love velvet and it's almost spring!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't used the cc cream but I love the bye bye foundation by the same brand. It's just a little more coverage, I hate that it's so pricey though! I have never heard of a virtual dr visit like that, very cool! Mexico is going to be so awesome, too bad they won't be filming BIP while you're there! And I'm not a huge fan of that bomber jacket, just because it's velvet and I'm not a huge fan but the color is gorg! Have a great weekend girl!
ReplyDeleteI have that CC cream on my list to try soon-- I just wish there were a little more options in terms of the shades. That oreo bar looks delicious- oreos are definitely my weakness. I think the bomber jacket is really fun and the color makes me think spring!

I've never tried it Cosmetics before but if it's got enough coverage to smooth your skin out and it has spf 50, I say give it a shot! Your Mexico trip sounds like it's gonna be amazing, have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteOH wow... that whole online doctor thing - I keep hearing more about it - that is so intriguing to me. Technology... I bet in the future, there will be pieces to blow in or pieces to put on your heart that doctors can hear where they are.
ReplyDeleteUMMMM - that Oreo cookie bar.I've just recently got hooked on Oreo's. I could eat a whole box of those thin ones easily!
I have that foundation and it's amazing!! I wore it all summer long. You will love it. You are going to have such a wonderful time in Mexico.

ReplyDeleteAnd how cool about that online doctor thing. I have seen people talk about that before, but I've never tried it. And boo to bronchitis. That stuff can be scary so it's a good thing you're taking care of yourself.
That is so awesome that you and Rory are getting a night alone. I love that idea. It's the perfect little getaway and such a great way to celebrate his Birthday. I can't believe your vacation is so close. I'm going to be following along on IG for vacation photos and updates!

ReplyDeleteGreen Fashionista
I've been thinking about that CC cream too. You'll have to let me know how it is and if it holds up for your trip. I'm sorry to hear you have bronchitis. We also have an HSA and got something in the mail similar to what you described. I'll have to keep it in mind should we need to use it. OMG! Even if it is for a night your little getaway from the getaway is going to be amazing. I like the bomber jacket. I just got one too, similar color and more of a satin material, I was reluctant at first but have gotten a lot of compliments on it. Have a great weekend!! Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteI like that CC cream for foundation. It goes on a bit thick so you just need to use a little! The oreo candy looks so good! Dr. appts. online sound awesome! That's crazy that could diagnose bronchitis like that. I hope you get well soon!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried that brand, but I love CC creams and wear it instead of foundation. The oreo bar! Ibotta has it on rebate at Walmart and I was so mad I could only find one, lol! I guess everyone else loves them too!
ReplyDeleteAhhh vacation to Mexico! Enjoy it!!
ReplyDeleteThat Oreo candy bar looks absolutely delicious! Target here I come too, LOL! Oh girl, you will have so much fun in Mexico. I am so sorry you have bronchitis, I know that sucks! Get lots of rest this weekend. And I'm with you something about jackets if I can't try them on I don't like to buy them online because they end up too short or something. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. did you try the Oreo candy bar?
DeleteI'm sorry you got sick. I developed Bronchitis after my recent business trip too, it sucks. I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteQuestion....my inhaler causes my heart to race and my skin to itch. Does yours?
My heart races a bit but my skin does not itch. Maybe you are having an allergy to it?
DeleteMy bronchitis got worse. I'm now on an abutoral inhaler, a steroid inhaler, couch suppressant with codeine and a medication specifically for bronchitis. Hope yours is doing better than mine.
DeleteOh my goodness those Oreo bars look amazing!! I have to find those!!
ReplyDeleteI need to find them as well!
DeleteI think velvet will carry over into next fall and it's cute. I've not tried that specific product, but I'm a huge fan of IT Cosmetics! Also, I haven't tried that candy bar yet, but I did try Oreo's version of the Cadsbury Egg! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI bought the IT foundation and can't wait to use it in Mexico!!! Oh I need to try that candy too!
DeleteI use the It Cosmetics CC cream everyday and love it!
