I just wanted to take a quick second to send out positive thoughts to Lindsay's sweet daughter Olivia who is having tubes put in this morning. I hear it is an easy procedure, but I want her to know that we are thinking of her.
Back to the weekend. Friday we worked all day which is unusual for us, but it was a holiday week. After work and a quick stop at home, we went out to dinner. The girls did so well at first, but then major meltdowns ensued. Mostly because they were tired, but also because we couldn't feed them fast enough (ie we couldn't cut their food up fast enough). But I realized that evening that our girls LOVE to eat. They don't love to eat everything, but when we give them something they like, they will eat for days. Gotta get some chunk by on their thighs after being sick.
After the girls were in bed, we relaxed and enjoyed a glass of wine.
Saturday morning we headed out to breakfast where the girls devoured french toast, ham and some potatoes. Then the girls took a 2 1/2 hour glorious nap. We were able to do things around the house and make my grocery list uninterrupted. That afternoon I went to the grocery store and then we took a long family walk. I am loving the warm weather intermixed with the snow here and there. I made a simple dinner of bltas and sweet potato tator tots and we watched the Nevada vs. UNLV game. Nevada lost. Boo.

Evening tantrums
Sunday we had breakfast with my in-laws since they hadn't seen the girls in a week or so (they can't get enough of their grandbabies). The girls devoured their french toast. A huge plate full plus cheerios. They can EAT. After brunch, we headed home for nap time. The girls napped and then played for quite awhile. I made the girls Whole Wheat Strawberry and Banana Muffins while they napped. They were a huge hit when they had one as a snack before shopping. We headed to the mall to look for Easter dresses and shorts/dresses (for Mexico). We were able to score 6 shorts and skirts for $30. We grabbed some coffee and headed home for a mini nap before dinner with my family for my sisters birthday.
These are very good. I can't wait to try them with carrots, zucchini and other fruits/veggies.
The muffins were a huge hit!
My sister, her boyfriend, my parents, my aunt, Rory, the girls and I all went to dinner at M3. The girls showed off their large appetites and ate an entire plateful of chicken strips, some mashed potatoes from grandmas plate and some pasta and bread from their aunts plate. The girls were in heaven. Dinner went late, but the girls enjoyed hanging out with their family. And Avery got extra cuddles from her grandpa.

It was the perfect evening to end the weekend.
We got my sister a Glassy Baby for her birthday. Don't know what a Glassy Baby is? It is a hand blown candle holder. We have several around our house and love them, so we got one for my sister. I chose the sister one since she is my sister and she loves the color purple. They are all unique and beautiful. Plus part of the sales are donated. Total win. And they come with soy candles.
Hope you all had a good weekend!
LOL to the shot of Rory and the crying babies. At least he's smiling? Haha. I'm so over tantrums at this point, I can't say the same for myself. I'm at the point where I just want to bang my head against the wall when one starts. Molars are the worst. I hope they break through quickly to save your girls from the pain and you guys from sleepless nights!
ReplyDeleteOh Rory was laughing it off when the girls were screaming. He tried taking them by the sliding glass door to calm them, but nothing was working. The outtakes are even better! The girls each have one molar in, so we have three to go. And their gums are so swollen. Poor girls :(
DeleteOwen will totally throw a fit and cry because food doesn't come to him fast enough either!!! I end up furiously blowing on hot food trying to cool it down so he can dig in!! Sorry you had a rough night... teething is the devil, seriously.
ReplyDeleteI will blow on it too and they get more upset because they think I am eating it and not sharing with them. Too funny. And yes teething is the DEVIL!
DeleteI was going to say the same thing as Leslie, that picture of the girls having their evening tantrums cracked me up. Those muffins look delicious! I'm glad you found some Mexico clothes for them, and for such a great deal!
ReplyDeleteThat picture cracks me up too. You should see the outtakes of them too. The muffins were really good. I took a bite of the girls' and loved them.
DeleteWhat a nice weekend! All your meals out sound fabulous! That candle holder is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe need to be a bit better about going out to eat, but after food poisoning, it wrecked havoc on what we had in the house. ie we don't want sausage or chorizo. But this week, we are buckling down on cooking at home. But I do love going out to breakfast!!! It was a good weekend. Hope you had a good weekend as well.
DeletePoor Avery. She looks so cute cuddled up against Grandpa.
ReplyDeleteYes she does. She is my cuddle bug. Sutton loves to roam around and can't be contained for long periods of time. Avery on the other hand will sleep on your chest. So cute!
DeleteLooks like a fun weekend! I have been loving the random days of warm weather, too!

They are pretty amazing, aren't they?
DeleteThe girls look so happy about their muffins. I'm going to make those because they sound delicious. Nothing is better than Grandpa snuggles! Sounds like a pretty great weekend overall other than the loss. Love Rory holding the girls who were not looking too happy. Ha ha! Way to smile through it Rory!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love how versatile the muffins are. Grandpa loved every second of the snuggles yesterday. And Rory was a trooper with the girls this weekend!
DeleteYour girls are just adorable !! That candle holder is perfect !
ReplyDeleteThank you! And I love the candle holders from Glassy Baby. So beautiful and unique. And great gifts too!
DeleteLooks like a nice weekend- minus the forever crying and teeth hurting :( I love sneaking veggies in muffins..makes me feel so damn healthy
ReplyDeleteDo you have any other muffin recipes to share? I could use all the toddler eats help I can get. Haha.
DeleteOh my gosh that photo of your husband with the two babies crying is hilarious! LOVE that one. You got lots of great shots for the weekend. Also love the gift for your sister, so pretty! Glad you guys were able to score some stuff for your trip. Yay, it's getting so close!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I just showed Rory that photo yesterday and he was cracking up. It is a good one. I can't wait for our trip. Counting down the days now.
DeleteI want to try to make those muffins! I think I have all of the ingredients in my kitchen right now so it might work! Looks like you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAnd the ingredients make you feel better about the muffins. And they are truly tasty. You put the leftover ones in the fridge and pop them in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds to warm them up a bit. So good and my girls have been enjoying them for a couple of days now!!!
DeleteYour girls are adorable! Just found your blog through the link-up. Those evening tantrums look exactly like my house at 5pm. Never fails. My son is a picky eater, but I think he would love those muffins because he loves bananas and strawberries so much. Glad ya'll had a great weekend. -Home of Malones
ReplyDeleteAwe thank you so much. I think your son would like them as well. They are really good actually. Now I want to add in veggies to help them get those too. My girls love proteins/meats and carbs. Just like their dad. Haha. It was a great weekend. So glad you found my blog. I love reading yours!!!
DeleteDanielle, you are so so sweet! Thank you so much for thinking of us. Everything went perfectly and Olivia was back to her happy, spunky self by the time that we got home.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a great weekend despite the lack of sleep. That's always the worst when the babies can't sleep. Teething stinks!!
I hope that you guys get a better night sleep tonight!
You are very welcome. I was thinking of you guys all day yesterday hoping everything went perfectly. So glad that it did!!!
DeleteWe had a great night of sleep last night and hopefully it continues!!!
Those muffins sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteThose muffins look AMAZING!! Have a great day :)
