Friday Favorites and Happenings

Happy Friday all! This week has been weird. We have been prepping for Sutton's surgery, but then it was cancelled. Well postponed. Her doctor broke her femur and blew out her knee. We already rescheduled it, but it is for after school starts. They told me should would only need a day to two days of recovery, so luckily she won't miss much. And since it is at the beginning of school, I hope that they are far enough ahead (private school taught way more than public school this last year), that it won't affect her. It is a bummer because as of July 1st my health insurance changes and it caused some complications. But her doctor is the best pediatric surgeon around here, so I definitely want to wait.

Anyways, we have quite a bit of things going on this weekend with my cousin's graduation party and Father's Day. I went with something totally different than I posted about and I will share that below.

Onto Friday favorites and happenings.

ONE. Solo Stove is having a huge sale right now. They have 25% off of everything. A few years ago, we got my father in law a Solo Stove and he loves it. We got the idea from my parents friend. So after using it a lot last week, we decided it was a great gift for an upcoming wedding. The wedding is still a few months out, but why pass up on the deal now?

I will just store the gift at my house until the wedding or bridal shower. Since my in-laws, my sister-in-laws family and us went in on it, we added in a few accessories to complete the gift.

Here is what we got them.

Solo Stove Ranger

Solo Stove Ranger Shield

Solo Stove Ranger Cover

TWO. Do you have girly girls like me? Mine always want to wear dresses, fancy shoes and all the accessories. Recently we threw away some old Disney "high heels" that were wrecked. They got some for Christmas that are still a bit too big. They were just wearing them inside the house, but now they are only a little bit big. So I told them if they wanted to wear them out to dinner, they should pair them with some socks.

We bought some fold over socks that have a fun edge to them at Target awhile back, but now they want the ones with the lace trim. Like Fancy Nancy. So I went searching on Amazon and found these. How cute are they? I used to wear socks just like this when I was growing up. Oh how fashion comes back around.

THREE. As I mentioned above, I bought Rory's Father's Day gift and didn't include the item on my post. I actually came up with the idea after hearing Rory ask his father if he had a pressure washer at the mountain house to get the dirt off the newly finished house.

I know Rory doesn't have one and wants one, so I got him the one below. It is on sale and gets great reviews, so I really hope he likes it.

Pressure Washer

FOUR. This was the other gift I was thinking of getting Rory. And this was another item that Rory mentioned that he wanted. When we were at Rory's parents mountain home, we put together bunk beds (2 sets), a coffee table and a coat rack for them and we used this tool to help us screw in the slats for the bunch beds and also for the coat rack.

This thing is amazing and easier to use then a normal power drill. I was going to get it for him, but maybe I will save it for Christmas or another time when I need a gift idea.

Dewalt Cordless Screwdriver

FIVE. Weekly funnies.

Have a great weekend. I am linking up with A Little Bit of Everything.

  3. Dang I hate that Sutton's surgery was postponed. I'm with you, though, I'd rather wait for the doc we want rather than finding someone else to do it. And I totally used to wear socks like that when I was little, too! I loved those things! Olivia hates socks and refuses to wear them except for school since it's part of the uniform code. I tried buying her some foldover socks like these thinking she'd like them better, but she still hates them. Lol. She hates the way any sock feels on her feet. Sigh.

    1. Me too. It sucks, but I hope that her surgeon recovers well and quickly. My girls are not a huge fan of socks either, but add the frilly touch to them and they will wear them. They like to dress up, so these work for them. But I totally get it.

  4. Sweaty ham sandwich lol!!! Sorry about Sutton's surgery, but I guess at least it is on the books! Hopefully it goes well. Those socks are so sweet. My MIL bought Zoe some fancy ones awhile back and she loved them. I definitely have a girly girl as well. Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Some kids smell like that. Ha. I am glad they already rescheduled it. Just sucks that it is after school starts back up. I like having girly girls for sure. But I hate when I buy clothes that aren't dresses and fancy and they don't want to wear them. Ugh. Have a great weekend!
