Weekending

What a weekend. We woke up to 13 inches of snow in Nevada and it didn't stop snowing all day. But we didn't get a snow day. How did we get 4 inches a few weeks before and it was a snow day, but when we got over a foot, it wasn't? I am still perplexed as well.

But the girls school closed early, so we couldn't go into work even if we wanted to. So we headed to breakfast, went to the grocery store, so we could cook dinner that night and then settled in for the day. We did take the girls outside to play in the snow and for a little walk with Walter.

Rory showed the girls how to make a snow angel. Neither one of them wanted to try it.

We settled in for the Wolf Pack game against Texas. It was a rough first half, but then the Pack came back and won it. It was such a good game. This meant that Nevada was to play Cincinnati on Sunday, and if you watched the game or read the news, then you already know how that turned out.

I made dinner that night, we watched more basketball and caught up on the Assassination of Gianni Versace after the girls went to bed.

Saturday morning we headed up to Mt. Rose while my in-laws watched the girls. The snow was pretty amazing, but so deep. On my first run, I had one of the best runs of my life until a skier crashed into the back of me. Not only did that hurt, but it stopped me in three feet of snow. I had to unbuckle my snowboard and hike about 30 to 40 yards down the hill (in thigh deep snow) and another 10 over to a cat track. I was exhausted, but I powered on for another two hours.

After snowboarding, we stopped at In N Out and then went home. I got ready for my sister's bridal shower and then my mother in law and I headed to that. I had so much fun. We played games (including toilet paper wedding dress), ate great food, drank sangria and watched my sister open gifts. Total blast.

After the bridal shower, we headed back home where I gave the girls mini bundt cakes and got them ready for bed. Rory picked up some Thai food and we watched more basketball that evening.

Sunday morning we took the girls to our favorite donut shop, Holey Schmidt donuts. They had been begging us all week to go there. How could I say no? After donuts, we went to their next favorite place, Home Depot. Ha. After that, we were going to go sledding, but the girls just wanted to go home.

We did some things around the house, did some cleaning, I went grocery shopping and then made the girls lunch. They took a short hour nap and were up in time for the Wolf Pack game. Nevada played Cincinnati and won. It was a crazy game. They came back from a 22 point deficit which is the largest in NCAA tournament history. We were celebrating all evening at our house. I can't believe we took down a #2 seed. This whole tourney has been crazy with so many upsets.

Now Nevada takes on Loyola on Thursday and it is during work time, so you best bet that I will be getting off work early to watch that. Then if they win that game, the next one will be Saturday which might be during Rory's 40th birthday party. So we shall see.

We have a busy week ahead. Birthday celebrations, a party and some Wolf Pack games.

How was your weekend?

  2. Too funny that the girls favorite place is Home Depot! Look at all that snow, and I thought we had a lot in Indiana, calling for a couple inches today but not 13, wow! Cheers to a sweet and fun week ahead!

  9. This weather is so crazy! We have more on the way over here and I am just longing for nicer days at this point. My husband at least gets to work from home when it snows but my work rarely closes :( Sierra~Beautifully Candid

  10. I feel like toilet paper dresses have stepped up their game now. People look up ideas on Pinterest & come in prepared. That game needs to be shook up somehow :) Maybe tell them to make the GROOM'S look - BAM! I am brilliant

  16. I'll never understand the decision making behind calling a snow day, we used to go through the same questioning when I was growing up in CT. It all looks so pretty, but I'm sure you're over it by now! The shower looked so pretty, and how am I so out of the loop with the tournament right now?! Total fail :-P

  18. I know you are so excited but we are rooting for Loyola - total Cinderella story! It's so exciting to watch either way, I have become really into watching basketball over the past year, I think it's because Brayden played and I got so into it. I never realized how fun it is to watch, and intense! Anyway, I can't believe all your snow!! So fun but even I'm ready to see the snow go bye bye haha
