I can't believe the holidays are over. It is a bit of a let down with taking all the Christmas stuff down and moving on. But I was so ready for a new year, so I am embracing it. And yes, all of my Christmas stuff was down prior to New Year's except my two trees. Those came down 2 days after New Year's.
The girls birthday was on a Tuesday this year, but that doesn't mean that we didn't celebrate with them. They sooo wanted to have a party, but with all of our closures, lockdowns and the state of the world, the girls are going to have to wait til their next birthday. But we still made the most of it.
Don't worry, there was more decorations around the house.
We took the girls to their favorite breakfast spot. Well the runner up as their favorite was closed on Monday and Tuesdays. And they wore their new J Crew dresses and sparkly velvet leggings. Oh and the Frozen 2 sequin jackets they got for Christmas!
After breakfast, we headed home for a bit so we could get some work done and the girls watched some shows. Plus the girls opened up their gifts from us.
Then we headed to a local trampoline park to jump for two hours. They have the best set up right now. You make reservations online for your jump time and only people 10 years and older wear a mask. Plus they have you sanitize your hands every 15 to 30 minutes. There were people there, but you are so spread out and they only let so many jump at a time, so it was perfect.
After two hours of jumping, we were all tired. We headed to Adidas to exchange the girls new shoes for a size bigger for Sutton. Avery took Sutton's size and we got Sutton a new one.
Then we headed home to work more while the girls played with their new toys.
That evening my in-laws came over and we had pizza (the girls choice and from their favorite place) and then had cake. My girls love cupcakes and pie, but are not huge cake fans, so I got them an ice cream cake. Look at how cute it is. The only problem was it said to sit out for 10 minutes before cutting, but after 30 minutes it was still difficult.
They forgot the Happy Birthday Sutton and Avery candy sign. Ugh.
After cake and pizza, the girls opened gifts from my in-laws and then they played with them for awhile. The girls then went to bed as they were headed to my parents house the next day to celebrate their birthday and allow us to work.
Even though it wasn't the birthday that I imagined for them, I think it was still fun for them. Hopefully this year they can have a party!
Onto, New Year's Eve. We made some last minute plans to head into the mountains with some of our friends and kids to celebrate NYE. It was just 8 adults (and some were family) and then 5 kids. It was a lot of fun. We had steak and crab plus sides for dinner, drank champagne, celebrated early with the kids and then again at midnight just the adults. We stayed up there from Thursday to Saturday morning and had the best time. We all were safe and thought this was a better idea than going out. Here is some pictures from the evening!
Yes those are cozy sequins joggers. The best!!!!
And that is how we rang in the New Year! How did you ring in the New Year?
What a beautiful birthday, nonetheless! I think we've all experienced a birthday letdown this past year. Spencer was SO bummed, but I was glad we could make it fun and special either way. For NYE, we had charcuterie with friends, and we went to sleep early haha F 2020!
ReplyDeleteI think so too. I hope it was ok for the girls and we can do something bigger in the future. I am all about being easy on NYE too. That is basically what we did, but just at our friends cabin in the woods.
DeleteLove their cute little sashes and the cake was beautiful! I think everyone is going to have a less than par birthday 20-21 but we’re all trying to make the most of it!
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what we were trying to do. When this started, I didn't think it would stretch to the girls birthday, but it did. At least everyone got the same type of birthday!
DeleteAww you guys definitely made it special for them and the trampoline park sounds like such a fun time! xo, Biana BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI hope we did. The girls love trampoline parks, so that was an easy choice. They wanted a party there, but I felt that parents wouldn't want to let their kids go and just the let down would be tough for them.
DeleteThose little outfits!! So much sass right there! I'm glad they both enjoyed their birthday!
ReplyDeleteOh yes. They love dressing up and being sassy. This is a very sassy, but sweet age. I am glad they had a good time too considering it wasn't exactly the birthday we wanted to give them.
DeleteI love the birthday outfits!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the girls still had a great birthday.. they are rocking those outfits.
ReplyDeleteLove your sequin jogger pants.
Thank you. They are totally rocking them. I love the comfy jogger pants and can't wait to wear them again!
DeleteWhat a fun day for the girls!! Their outfits are too cute!! That cake looks so yummy, and is so cool! Wishing you and your fam a happy day!
ReplyDeleteI hope so. It is hard having a birthday during the pandemic, so we tried our best to make it great. Thank you. I hope you have a happy day too!
DeleteSounds like the girls had a pretty special birthday, even though they didn't get their party. Let's hope the next birthdays that roll around, we can do that again! Their cake turned out so cute! We aren't big cake fans here either, we tend to do cookie cake and cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so. We did try to make the best out of it! I like that you guys do cookie cakes too. I need to find those around here.
DeleteI love their matching birthday outfits and that cake looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you. They love to match! And the cake was so cute, but didn't thaw as well as we hoped. Still was tasty!
DeleteBy the girls face, I dont think they felt like anything was missing from their birthday. They look so cute in their birthday outfits & sashes!
ReplyDeleteThank you. That makes me happy that you can see that. Those are new outfits and they had requested to wear them on their birthday so they could be fancy!
DeleteTwins would be so much fun! Celebrating birthdays and all! I always wanted a sister growing up and I can't imagine how much your girls love being together. They will be besties for life! Your NYE looks like it was perfect. Your sequin joggers are genius! Comfort and stylish for NYE!
ReplyDeleteIt is a lot of fun, but tough to celebrate right after Christmas. But we make the most of it! They are inseparable. And I sure hope they are besties for life! A built-in best friend!!! I love the joggers. You nailed it. So much comfort and cuteness!
DeleteIt sounds like the girls had a wonderful birthday! I love their birthday outfits and the cake is beautiful!
