Friday Favorites and Happenings

Did anyone else feel like this week was a bit chaotic? My girls didn't even start school this week and I just felt like I was ultra busy. Between school shopping, a doctor's appointment, getting things ready for school next week and work, I was just downright busy.

Onto Friday Favorites and Happenings.

ONE. Last weekend I took the girls shopping for their first day of Kindergarten outfits. Since they are in a private school this year (we chose to pay for private school this year to hopefully avoid things being shut down and let our kids have a bit more freedom), they can wear what they want. They will probably have uniforms next year though.

So we went to H&M and I let them pick out what they wanted with a little guidance. We were there for over an hour just trying to find the perfect outfits. One girl would find her outfit, and then the other would change hers because she wanted something similar. And I had to tell them that they could be the same outfit, but different colors because we don't want their teacher having a harder time figuring out who is who.

So what did they chose?
Yellow Skirt (unavailable on H&M online)  |  Pink skirt

TWO. Here are some other items that we bought the girls for Back to School. As you can see, my girls are really into skirts and dresses.

THREE. Can we talk about what a disappointment the Nordstrom sale has been this year? They let all the high income bloggers buy everything up before anyone else can and then they try it on, gives us a swipe up link and then return most of their stuff, but we can't buy any of it because it is sold out.

I am just a card holder and was able to shop on Thursday August 13th. I had my wish list which I shared with you all. I had planned to buy a few items that I knew I would love and where all the time. Problem is, most of it was gone by the time I got in right away Thursday morning. BS!

I keep checking back to see if they restock any of the items and I hope they do when the sale opens up to the public (it did yesterday). I did grab a few items, but not my top choices. I will be trying them on and letting you know truthfully if I plan to keep or return the items.

Did you get anything you wanted from the Nordstrom sale?

FOUR. This week I went in for a check-up at my doctor's office to see how things were going with a recent surgery. So my surgery in February was a success and things were looking great BUT she noticed right away that I have an umbilical hernia AGAIN.

If you have been reading here for awhile, then you know that I have had two umbilical hernia surgeries before. I had one in June 2015 (I talk a bit about it here) and again in February 2016. The first time was due to having twins. The girls pushed my belly button way out and moved all my insides around, so I got a hernia. It happens a lot with bigger pregnancies. Fast forward and that one either did not take or I had a double hernia that just was never found. So I got it fixed again.

Everything has been great since then. But about 6 months to a year ago (I lost track), I noticed the top of my belly button protruding out and when I push on it, it hurts. I knew something was up, but I have been through so many surgeries that I chose to ignore it.

When I saw my doctor, she noticed it immediately. She said you have a hernia on top of your belly button. I told her my history and she said this one is different because the others were in my belly button. This one is on top of my belly button, so it is new and not from the others. And she did an examination on it and when she was poking and pinching things, she said she could feel my bowels (intestines) protruding and that has to be fixed as I can cut off the supply to my bowels and be in a world of hurt.

So she has put in a request for surgery and authorization through my insurance and hopefully it will be approved soon. BUT I don't want to get it until October, so I can go to Mexico and not worry about going into the pool.

FIVE. Weekly funnies.

Have a great weekend. I am linking up with A Little Bit of Everything and Becky.

  1. I seriously need all your funnies every week! They are spot on and it gets me through this craziness. I love the outfits the girls picked out for school. I was able to get the Nsale stuff I wanted but I didn't order that much this year. Basics like PJs/undewear so maybe that was why?

    1. That is why I post them. I love reading other people's memes and getting laughs and then I like finding ones for you all too! I wanted a pair of Honeydew pjs and they were sold out so fast and then they restocked in large, but that doesn't work for me.

  2. Love your funnies. I have an umbilical hernia too but so far no surgery. So sorry.

  3. OMG that funny about eating - its so me I immediately shared it lol. I go from zero to hangry very quickly! Also need to check out H&M for clothes for Sadie - I never shop there for her!

    1. Yep. That is me as well. Haha. I haven't shopped at H&M for clothes for my girls in a long time either, but they had great deals and so many cute things.

  4. Ugh, I'm so sorry you're having trouble again. Hopefully your surgery will get approved through insurance and they'll be able to get everything fixed. And yes, I agree that the NSale was awful again this year. That's two years in a row now that it's been chaotic. I've pretty much given up on it and instead I just find dupes on Amazon for the things that I like. Haha.

    1. I think finding dupes is a better idea too. But I LOVE when Honeydew pjs go on sale, so I really wanted those, and they were sold out soooo quickly. Ugh. And yes about surgery. I hate that I have to have it done.

  5. The girls' BTS outfits are adorable! I had no idea that's how the Nordstrom sale worked with bigger bloggers... I'm sorry! That's frustrating! And I am extremely sorry to hear about your situation with your body! Surgery?! Oh no! I will be thinking o you!

    1. I hate that I have to have surgery again. But at least I know what is like since I have had it done before. I am prepared for it this time. Thank you. The girls can't wait for their first day of school on Monday! I am just not going to shop the sale next year. It annoys me too much. Ha.

  6. I love the outfits they picked! I hope school goes well for them. I am sorry about the need for surgery! I had a ventral hernia surgery which helped me not look pregnant but didn't heal right so it's kind of need of fixing, but it's cosmetic so I don't want to do it!

    1. If it is cosmetic, I would leave it too. I wouldn't want to pay for it either. I am just hoping recovery is quick and my insurance approves it soon. They are sooo excited about school. I can't wait for their first day. They are growing up sooo fast.

  7. They have a great sense of style already! Good plan with the private school. I think that's the only way to avoid shut downs this year, but we'll see!

    1. They do have a great sense of style already!!! I hope nothing gets shut down, but I wanted to help make that not happen.

  8. The girls outfits they picked out are so cute!!! Zoe is all about wearing dresses too, and wont touch her other clothes. The Nsale. Ugh. I am the same as you, not being able to shop until the 13th. I definitely got more stuff last year than this year. It was so disappointing. It left a really bad taste in my mouth to be honest with you. I plan to do dupe posts from here on out for the sale pieces and shopping that way. I am sorry to hear about your umbilical hernia, that sounds awful. Hopefully the surgery will be a success when you have it.

    1. I don't know what it is, but they just love skirts and dresses only. ha. It definitely left a bad taste in my mouth as well. I like the idea of doing a dupe post instead. Thank you!!!

  9. I hope everything goes OK with your surgery (and that it doesn't interfere with vacation!). I gave up on the Nordstrom sale and found a few dupes for the items I really wanted on Amazon.

    1. I really hope so too. And I hope we actual do get to go on vacation, but not sure if that will happen. I like the dupe idea so much more!

  10. Memes are seriously life! H&M is our favorite place to shop for kids' clothes. My girls have several of those items you bought! I love their first day outfits. Adorable! Good luck with everything with the hernia - I'm sure that's stressful and hope it all goes smoothly. <3

    1. Haha, right? I love the weekly memes. I hadn't shopped there much for kids clothes, but they have awesome deals and such cute clothes for kids. It is stressful, but I have been through it before, so I at least know what to expect.

  11. Oh my gosh, girl. I'm sorry to hear you need surgery AGAIN. What a bunch of suck. I'm sorry. In other news, your memes were hilarious, and the girls' outfits are SO cute! I wish Spencer's private school had worked out, but they ended up closing after all, so now he's going to be at home :/

    1. I know...I am sooo over surgery. Really? They closed. That really does suck. I am so sorry. How is he holding up?

  12. OH NO>>> I'm so sorry another surgery is in your future. Dang it - its always something :(
Just imagine what teenage twin shopping is going to be like. Hang on for that ride.

  13. The NSale continues to be a mess. Maybe next year they will get it under control...although I don't have high hopes. Love the outfits the girls got - they are going to be so well dressed. :) Good luck with your surgery...fingers crossed it is approved and you can do it in the timing you want!

    1. I don't have high hopes for that either. I used to love the sale too. They have a better style and wardrobe than I do. Ha. Thank you so much!

  14. Loving all your funnies, and your girls have great taste! I'm beyond frustrated with the NSale, and hope it's the end of big bloggers shoving it down our throats every year. I've heard way too many stories of them returning bags full of stuff which rips the commission away from the store associates which I find disgusting. I ended up using my birthday gift cards for Nordstrom last night at Nordstrom Rack, and I found a lot of pieces for much cheaper <3

    1. SO sorry to hear about your surgery! Sending lots of hugs and prayers that everything will be healed by the time you go to Mexico <3

    2. They really do. They have a better wardrobe than I do too! I have heard the same things about sales associates losing their commission from bloggers bringing everything back. That is soooo unfair to them. I find it disgusting too. I would use mine at the Rack too. I can find great deals there.

And thank you. I am hoping we can still go to Mexico and that my surgery is a breeze.
