Friday Favorites and Happenings

Happy Friday all! This week has been crazy. I have been pretty slammed with work and then when I am not working, I am being a parent, researching all this crazy child exploitation news, cooking, reading and just trying to keep my head above water. But we survived the week and I am so looking forward to this weekend.

Onto Friday Favorites and Happenings.

ONE. I am going to start with something heavy. Something that has been on my mind all week. I want to start this off by saying that I am one who tends to not watch the news all the time because I just get too worried. I get upset by how unfair each media outlet is and then I am not sure what is right or wrong and I get frustrated. I am always saddened by the news, so I read and watch sparingly. Now my husband on the other hand, is always on twitter, always reading up on things and he is one who always knows what is going on. He pretty much shields me from it all as he knows I worry way too much.

He has brought up things in the past about Chester Bennington as he knows I used to listen to Linkin Park all the time. He has mentioned the connection between him, Chris Cornell, and John Podesta. I have done a bit of research myself, but never anything real deep. That is until I first heard about the Wayfair stuff last weekend.

I went down a long rabbit hole one night. I was looking into Pizzagate, the Wayfair allegations, Justin Biebers allegations, the child sacrifices, etc. This stuff is sick. I am so upset that this stuff has been going on and nothing has really been done about it. I am so glad that the lid has been blown off of this stuff. I am disgusted by so many celebrities, politicians and the cover-ups that have been going on.

I don't want to go into the specifics of it, but I just want to say to do your research, become aware of what is really going on, protect your children, report anything that you come across or see, and to not turn a blind eye to what is going on in this world right now.

This isn't about Republicans vs. Democrats. This is about good vs. evil. We need to put these sickos away and save these children. Please spread the word, do your research and educate yourself.

Now onto more fun things.

TWO. This week I bought the cutest dress from Billabong. I recently started wearing more Billabong stuff again. Last time I bought anything from Billabong was when I was in Australia in 2012. But everything is so cute and their shorts have been a favorite of mine this Summer. This dress has sold out at Nordstrom, but it is still available at Billabong.com

THREE. Now I know that many of you don't live in Nevada or California, but one of my favorite local shops has been putting out the cutest tie dye tees and tanks. And if you are a bachelor/bachelorette fan then you have seen Garrett (who won Becca's heart) wearing this line.

I have several items from her store. I have a sweatshirt, t-shirt, stickers and now a tank. And my girls have several items from her line as well. But this week, I purchased this tie dye tank. Now let's hope that the football season is able to proceed (even if it starts late or no spectators there) and I can wear this to all the Summer/hot weather games. She does custom items too, so you might be able to get one with your state/city.

FOUR. I usually save my amazon purchases for the prime post, but if you are a runner/workout/hands-free person, this armband is amazing. I have had it for about two weeks now and it has made my runs/walks so much easier. I was running and holding my phone which always made me worry that I was going to drop my phone. Plus my hands would get sweaty and the popsocket was just uncomfortable to hold.

I used to have an armband a long time ago, but then I stopped running and I didn't need it. And with buying new phones every few years, the sizes change and you would need to change the armband. Luckily, this armband is $14.98 and is awesome. It soaks up the sweat since it is made from Neoprene, is adjustable for smaller and larger arms, you can still change stations, answer calls and use your phone if need be. It also has an area for a key, money and a spot for your headphones should they still connect to your phone. Totally worth the $15.

FIVE. Weekly funnies.

I am linking up with A Little Bit of Everything and Becky. Have a great weekend!

  3. Ugh, I saw all of that stuff about Wayfair this week and it's mindblowing. I know nothing has been proven yet, but my goodness, there is some damning evidence and crazy stuff going on. I, too, have to avoid the news a lot these days as it's not good for my anxiety. I can only take it in small doses at this point because everything is just awful right now.

    1. Even if the Wayfair stuff isn't proven, it is just bringing light to what is going on out there. It is just sickening and breaks my heart. I am scared and often cry when I watch the news or read this stuff. I hate it. I have bad anxiety over it too.

  5. Honestly - it feels like the WORLD IS FALLING APART & I'm liek you - reading it & watching too much of it, just gives me all the anxiety. I'm ready to pack up my family & move to the middle of Idaho - or Montana - put me in the middle of somewhere that i can just forget it all.

  7. It's so hard because we want to be informed, but we also need to function. I've avoided too much news since close to the beginning of this pandemic. On a lighter note, love that dress and love Billabong stuff!

    1. Me too. They have the cutest stuff lately. More grown up stuff now. I hate watching the news. It is all doom and gloom.

  8. I was obsessed with Billabong in high school and college. I should look at their stuff again. I have a pair of Roxy flip flops I love. I try to stay away from the news mostly, and just watch enough to know what is going on. Chris is the one who keeps tabs on it more. This Wayfair stuff reminds me of stuff that came out about the Clinton's a long time ago that everyone wanted to ignore or call it crazy conspiracy. The evidence was very damning then as it is now, and it just kind of went away.

    1. You should take a look. They have more grown up things now and things that are more versatile. Rory and I are the same way with the news. Oh yes. Hillary is being deposed in September over all those allegations and her emails.

  9. That dress is super cute! Do you think Becca and Garrett are going to make it? They have been at odds lately. That thing about sleeping is so me!

    1. I am not sure. I haven't seen them in each other's stories much. Especially since Garrett went to a wedding and I didn't see Becca there. I love that they are here often, but I wonder if they will last too?!

  10. Such a cute dress! :) I don't know what the wayfair thing is and I don't want to read up on it I don't think - there is so much nasty stuff out there in the world, it's so sad!

Hope that you are having a great weekend :) We had our first birthday party yesterday after the relaxed restrictions and it was so much fun!

  11. It's a SCARY time! I can't believe the things that are unfolding. I am with you, I can't watch much of the news or I will be depressed all the time.

Aside from that... LOVE that dress!

  12. I can't handle the news either, and even signed off social media last week as my heart just can't handle everything right now. We have immediately stopped ordering things from Wayfair, and unsubscribed from their emails. I heard the conspiracy theories about Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell, and I am more apt to believe they were murdered because of what they know. It's SO sad, and wish I could send a big hug over to you across the country <3

    1. I unsubscribed from their emails as well and I won't be ordering from them. It is way too sad to read all of this stuff. I am not sure what is all real, but at least some of it is real and just awful. I am sending you hugs back.

  13. That's the thing.. as scary as the news is and while it would be easier to just stay away from social media and the news I want to know.. I need to know. I am in awe of the people risking their lives to protest, the fight for what is right. The least I can do is read about it and spread the word. This is not the time to bury our heads in the stand. It is not about politics.. it's about good and evil.

    1. Yes. I agree with the last statement completely. I am definitely spreading the word and talking to my kids about this.

  14. HAH, I love that tweet about the ice cream. And mosquitoes!! So true. It's been three years since Chester Bennington passed so I have been reading a lot about him this week. It's all so sad.

  15. That mosquitoes saying made me laugh! I've heard a few things here and there about child exploitation but haven't read up on a whole lot of it. May have to do that when I get some time to go down a rabbit hole. I think any child exploitation is despicable. That's a really pretty dress.
