Thoughts and Confessions

I haven't done a thoughts and confessions post in a long time, so I thought today was as good of a day as any.

THOUGHTS

ONE. My heart is breaking for April and her family. If you haven't seen, April's (who blogs at Smidge of This) daughter Charlotte was recently diagnosed with a terminal and incurable disease. She has Leukodystrophy. I researched it after April posted about it and it is gut wrenching. Not only does she have to worry about Char, but now she has to have her other two children tested as they have a 1 in 4 chance of having it as well. Seriously, this is the worst. If you would like to help, go to the gofundme that was set up for them.

TWO. I am still reeling from this weeks episode of The Affair. Does anyone watch it? I love this show. It has gotten a bit weird this season, but I do still like it. And the big thing that happened this week. Just wow.

THREE. Since I am going to be laid up on the couch for the next many days, send me your Netflix recommendations. I don't have Hulu, so only Netflix or things on Demand.

FOUR. I have a love hate relationship with affiliate links. I use them, but I only recommend things that I have used, love or are purchasing myself/kids/husband. I feel like some bloggers come off as NOT genuine about the links they post. They just want you to click it and get their money from it. I barely make any money from the links I do post, but I do get a bit. So I just want to say thank you for those clicks when you do make them. But I try to describe the product, so you don't have to go through my link if you do not want to. Just keep it real here.

CONFESSIONS

ONE. Above I mention how I love The Affair. I also love Joshua Jackson. I have watched everything of his. From his movies (Mighty Ducks to Cruel Intentions) to his tv shows (Dawson's Creek...love Pacey). Huge celebrity crush over here.

TWO. I put off getting a facial for 6 months because I would rather spend my money on Botox. But with my surgery tomorrow (yikes), I got a facial yesterday. Lots of people say that the cast being on your nose causes a lot of black heads and I wanted to try to nip it in the butt before. Confession: I miss facials, but love Botox more.

I was due to get my second round about a week ago, but with my surgery, I can't get it for another month-ish.

THREE. Work has been kicking my ass lately.

FOUR. I think my feet have grown in the last year. I still wear an 8, but when I try on shoes lately, I am between an 8 and an 8 1/2. That or companies make their shoes a lot smaller. It makes me sad because I don't want large feet. I know a half size isn't much, but it sounds better when I say, "I wear an 8." Dumb, I know. Ha.

FIVE. I was disgusted when my husband told me that the Target dollar spot sucks and he hates when I buy things in there. Not cool. (This one is meant to be funny.)

SIX. I probably wear my pjs too many days in a row, but when I have my favorites on, I want to keep wearing them.

  1. This show isn’t streaming anywhere, but I had to mention since you love Joshua Jackson so much. You have seen Fringe, right? Such a good show!

  2. I have been thinking about April and her family nonstop. Charlotte is almost exactly the same age as my Hadley, and I have shed so many tears thinking about what they must be going through. On another, much lighter, note -- I have always appreciated the way you use your affiliate links! Very honest and I always know it's something you truly love. :)

    1. I completely agree. It just breaks my heart so much. I can't and hope I never have to imagine what she is going through. I am constantly sending prayers and love her way. Thank you. That means a lot. I hope others feel the same way.

  3. I'm the same with PJ's - I mean, I'm getting out of the shower - CLEAN - so my PJ's can last longer, right?
If you havent watched "Nailed It" on Netflix yet - DO IT! It'll make your waiting better. But be warned - you will laugh so hard, it could hurt :) haha
Sending you good vibes for your upcoming procedure!

    1. I have been sooo emotional over it too. I told Rory about it and it breaks his heart. We just hope she is doing ok, being loved and lives for a long time.

  6. I am so sorry to hear about April's daughter. I completely missed that and feel horrible for them. I will be keeping them in my prayers and for you with your surgery as well. I couldn't agree more about the affiliate links. I have a love hate relationship with it. To be honest, if it's not a blogger I trust or find genuine I shop through my ebates instead lol. 1. Thank you so much Sierra. It is such a devastating thing for your child to go through that. I can't get over it. I am sooo heart broken for them. I do the same thing as you do. I click on the links of bloggers that I trust and love, but otherwise, I don't.

  7. So as far as Netflix suggestions I can definitely give you some! My husband and I watched Safe the other day, super addictive (but only 7 episodes). Also, I got into Anne with an E, but that's not everyone's cup of tea! Praying for your surgery! Even though surgery is no fun, enjoy the time you get to just relax! I feel like that's something we don't get to do too often anymore until life makes us! lol

    1. Oh thank you for the recommendations. I will add them to my list on Netflix!!! I definitely will enjoy the relaxation time. I just need to get through the surgery and then I can feel a bit better. I am sooo nervous right now.

  8. I haven't been able to stop thinking about April since I saw the news this week. I am just heartbroken for her and her family. She is quite possibly the sweetest person and it just sucks that this is happening to her. I can't even begin imagine what she's going through.

I also love Joshua Jackson! Mighty Ducks 2 is one of my favorite childhood movies EVER and Dawson's Creek was the best! I was a faithful DC fan from episode 1! I guess I need to check out this show you're talking about!

    1. I completely agree. My heart hurts sooo much for them right now. I can't stop thinking about their family either.

I am as well. I LOVE DC. Oh the Affair is great, but it has a lot of sex in it and some wow moments. But soooo good.

  9. Oh that is so sad about April!!! How heartbreaking. On a lighter note, I am the same way with links. I share stuff I love or is on my list to purchase and I appreciate that if someone is going to look at the link anyways...I can get few cents for it...but that is it. I need to check out The Affair. And my feet have gotten a little bigger/wider in the last few years. I can still wear my normal size in most things...but some I have to size up a half size and ummm my feet are bigger than yours. So who you calling big feet? LOL

  10. I did not know about April’s daughter. Oh my heart breaks! Same here just sharing what I love cause I like to see what my blogger friends recommend. Same with my favorite PJ’s! TBB ASKS for Sept will be all things cozy. Ok we just started “Five” on Netflix and it’s good. “The Rain” was good and A Handmaids Tale On Hulu..,chilling but really good!
