Pray for Vegas

I had planned to write a weekend update to go live today, but after the events that happened Sunday night in Las Vegas, I just couldn't. That can wait until tomorrow.

Right now my heart is hurting for my friends and family who were at the Route 91 Music Festival. I spent the better part of Monday morning glued to my computer for updates on this tragedy. I was also texting friends and family to make sure they were not there or if they were, that they were ok. Then I saw all of the accounts of what happened on FB and my heart sank even more.

One of my friends was at the concert celebrating her sister and their love for country music (she passed away a few months ago from stomach cancer) when shots rang out. They ran to the VIP section and helped knock down a gate to get out of there. They were running as fast as they could when someone they didn't know, said her arm hurt. They stopped to see if she was ok and she had been shot in the back and it made its way out of her arm. Luckily, they were far enough away from the venue to stop and help the girl out.

Another friend hide under the bleachers as bullets ricocheted near them. He laid over his girlfriend to make sure she would not get hit. They made it out alive.

Another friend was there with his brother celebrating his 34th birthday. They took a photo about 3 minutes before the attack happened. They made it out alive...

...but so many people did not make it.

As more information comes out, we have learned that he lived in Henderson, Nevada since June 2016. Prior to that, he lived in Reno, Nevada, which is my home. He still has a house here and that house is less than two blocks away from my in-laws.

I am still wrapping my head around this and I am hoping and praying that none of my friends or family were injured.

When something like this happens in the US and even more so when it happens in Nevada, it makes me fear for the world my children will grow up in. There are some truly awful people in this world.

Please pray for Las Vegas.

  1. My husband and I were both born and raised in Vegas. It’s absolutely devastating watching all of this unfold. We had several friends that were there and so thankful they survivors. However, like you said many did not and that is heartbreaking.

  3. You are the first person I know who knew people who were there. So scary. I have family in Vegas but they weren't there.

  4. These events continue to happen, and they continue to scare the living daylights out of me. When it hits close to home like this, it makes it feel even more scary. Sending you and that city all of my love, but I'm also going to DO SOMETHING and call senators and congress members and start demanding that they do something about this. THIS IS NOT OK!

  5. I think I am still a little shocked and numbed by all of this. I just don't understand the mentality of a person to have so much anger and hate to do something like this. So many lives. It makes no sense. I am glad to hear that all of your friends who attended made it out. It is a sad day when you can't even go to the movies or a concert without worrying that something like this could happen.

  8. I am so glad that all of your friends survived, Danielle. This whole thing was just awful and what's even crazier is that they still don't know his motive! It blows my mind that everyone who knows him is saying that they can't believe he would ever do something like this but yet he did.

Vegas was like Brian's and my second home for almost a decade. We went every single year together since the year we started dating and it has always been our favorite place. The last time we were there was, ironically, for a concert at Mandalay Bay. It breaks my heart to see so many people suffering in a city that we hold so dear.

Please know that my prayers are with you for safety for your friends and family. This world has become so scary and I am terrified for my children and grandchildren. <3 Beautifully Candid

  11. Oh my goodness. How terrifying for your friends. I'm so happy they made it out unharmed physically. My husband and I were talking and figured as many people as were affected it wouldn't take long until we came across someone we either knew who had been there or someone we know would have a connection. It's such a horrific event. Praying for all the people! XO

  12. Oh my gosh Danielle, this totally hits home for you and I can see why. I thankfully didn't know anyone who was there. I truly cannot even imagine this, it doesn't make sense and it's just so heartbreaking. Glad your friends were ok
