Travel Bug

If you follow my blog, then you know I travel a lot, mostly for work.  But occasionally, I get to travel for fun.  I love to travel, especially if my husband gets to join me.

One of the things that attracted me to my job was the traveling part.  I was a single 23 year old with not many commitments (no mortgage, no student loan debt, only a car payment).  I had traveled with my family over the course of my life, but I had the travel bug and I wanted to travel EVERYWHERE.  I knew I wanted to go to New York City (ala Carrie Bradshaw and Friends), Chicago, Miami, Texas (anywhere in Texas), Boston and out of the country.  My job had promises of these.

It did not take me long to go to all of those and then some.  I have traveled to cities I have loved and hated.  Since I travel a lot for work, I now know where I want to go back to, where I never want to step foot in again and the types of places I want to see that I still haven't.  I am slowly but surely checking off states and countries on my map both through work and personal.

Some of my favorites have been:
  • New York City.  I can't get enough.  I have only been for work, but I have been my fair share of times.
  • Australia.  I went for work for two weeks and saw Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.  I loved every second of it.
  • Costa Rica.  We went on vacation there for 11 glorious days.  Do yourself a favor and go to the Guanacaste Province.  It is full of beauty, adventure, not as touristy and the "pure life".  I CAN NOT wait to go back.
  • Alaska.  I went on a cruise from Seattle to Skagway, Ketchikan, Juneau and Prince Rupert, Canada.  I went in July/August, so the weather was perfect, and the salmon and king crab legs were to die for.
  • Boston.  I have only been there once, and I am going back there soon for work, but I loved it.  I loved the history, the food and culture.
  • Hawaii.  What more can I say than I went there for my honeymoon and loved it.

I have been to Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Alaska, Hawaii and Michigan.

On my list of places I must go are the Carolina's, Maine, Louisiana, Italy (ok most of Europe) and Belize.

Some upcoming trips:
March: Mexico and Boston area
April: Wisconsin and Minnesota
May: Colorado and Oregon
June: California

I have the travel bug and must/need to travel as much as I can before we have children.  Because I will then want to go to kiddie places instead of the tropics.  Who am I kidding, I am bringing the kiddies to those places too.

Do you have the travel bug?
