Still Recovering

Hi All! I thought I would be back to writing posts, commenting on your blogs and back in the swing of things. BUT this surgery recovery has been hard. Harder than I thought it would be. Even though they warned me about it. But I thought I would bounce back quickly.

To be honest, I have gone out a bit (I went to the rodeo on Monday since we had tickets for months and I didn't know my surgery would be moved up), but it definitely set me back yesterday. I was bleeding again and my goodness have I been sore.

So I am listening to my body and taking more time. I hope to be back next week. Fingers crossed. But in the meantime, I watch all your stories on Instagram.

See you soon! And thank you for being so patient about me getting back to you all.

Surgery

So if you have noticed that I am lagging on responding to comments or commenting on your blog posts, it is because my surgery was moved up to Monday. I am currently laying up at home resting, sleeping, and healing.

On Tuesday May 31st I got a call from my surgeon's office letting me know that my surgeon needed to cancel or reschedule my surgery (it was supposed to be on Monday June 27th). They said they had a cancellation for Monday June 13th and I could take that or I would have to wait until August.

Since I scheduled this surgery date over two months ago, I didn't want to wait it out any longer. And I got back from my Graeagle trip on the 11th, so I figured why not?

It took some time to change all my other appointments, work commitments, etc., but I got it done. So if I am slow to respond to your comments, please know I will probably next week.

Now onto healing and recovering.

4th of July Outfits for Men and Women

Now that I shared my Kids 4th of July Outfits, I thought I would share some for Men and Women. Now, it was a lot harder to find any. Maybe I am just shopping early, but I thought with Memorial Day not that long ago, there should have been more patriotic wear. I guess not. But I did find some cute stuff, and more for women than men, but still a few men finds.

4th of July Outfits for Men and Women
One  |  Two Three  |  Four Five
Six  |  Seven  |  Eight  |  Nine  |  Ten

I know adding a sweater in for the 4th seems weird, but if you are like me, then you more often or not are camping during the 4th of July. In the evening and mornings it is cold, and this is perfect to start or end your day.

I also love the pairing of Six and Nine or Seven and Nine because they are things that can be worn all Summer long.

Men kind of get little here because it is either stripes or full blown flags and stars on their outfits. I do love the USA shirt which you can wear for the Olympics or the 4th of July. The shorts are technically pjs, but I see them more as lounge shorts.

What will you be wearing this 4th of July?

Friday Favorites and Happenings

*This post contains affiliate links. When you click a link, it is no cost to you and I make a small commission (pennies) from it. Thank you for supporting Sparkles and Lattes.

Happy Friday all! Definitely not much to start this blog post with other than we are now into Summer break for the kids and that means no more packing lunches daily and a bit of a break from homework. Though we are still reading as much as we can because we don't want the girls to fall back during the Summer.

Anyways, onto Friday favorites and Happenings.

ONE. With my upcoming Graeagle trip, I knew that I needed to get a CC cream with spf in it, so I didn't have to wear a full face of makeup daily. Who wants to wear a full face of makeup when they are on vacation?

I haven't used this product in a few years, but I grabbed a color based on my current foundation selection. I did the find your shade on both Sephora and IT Cosmetics website. I bought it in light which is a taupe color with warm undertones.

I love this CC cream for vacation because it has spf 50 in it and it gives my face some color without going the full makeup route.

I heard they changed their formula, but to me it seems the same so far. Now I know others use this as their daily "foundation", but I usually like more coverage with a traditional foundation.

TWO. J Crew Factory was recently having a sale and since Rory wanted to grab a pair of their khaki's and tees, he needed a bit extra to get 20% off and free shipping. So I have been wanting this shirt for awhile, but never wanted to pay for shipping. But since he had an order, I added this shirt to his order. You may just see it next week in a 4th of July Adult Outfit post, but in a different color.

THREE. My girls had their last day of school on Friday June 3rd. Technically, they were supposed to be in school until Tuesday June 7th (half day), but we had plans for the next week. We asked the girls if they wanted to see their cousins and miss the last day and a half and they really wanted to. Of course, I asked their teachers if they were doing any school work and would miss out on anything big. They said that they were turning in grades on the 3rd and they would miss some movie time, some math practice and reading practice. But mostly just a fun day. So we decided Friday would be their last day.

I snapped these photos of them.

And here are side by sides to see how much they have grown in the last year!

FOUR. I saw this dress on Amazon and loved it immediately. It would be so cute for date night, girls night or a casual wedding. My only concern is the little cut out on the belly. After having kids and multiple hernia surgeries, I don't show my stomach that much. Is this too young for me?

The photos make it seem like my belly button is covered and just shows some stomach which I am ok with. The only problem is it takes a long time to get here. But if I order it now, it will be here by end of June-ish, early July. What do you all think?

Kids 4th of July Outfits

We have less than a month to 4th of July/Independence Day. I am already shopping for outfits for our 4th of July dress up. I try to buy things that the girls can wear for more than just the 4th, but it doesn't always work out that way. Even when their outfits are full on flags or stars, they usually rock them all Summer. They are even rocking their cute rompers from last year as much as they can.

Since I already bought the girls outfits, I thought I would share some of my finds and contenders. I even included boys as I was searching for outfits for my nephew.

Kids 4th of July/Independence Day Outfits

Many of these come in baby, toddler and kids sizes. So many cute options. I got the girls the Stars Shirt and Red Shorts, but the Star Dress was a close second. I just wanted the blue denim style option for the star dress, but my Target did not have it in stock or available to send to me at this time.

Amazon Prime Purchases - May

It is time for another round of what did buy from Amazon Prime in May? Last month I had a pretty good haul, and this month I didn't buy much. We just didn't need a lot.

So what did we buy this last month?

We will start with the repurchases.
Iron plus Vitamin C Supplements

I always have low iron, so I take a supplement for it. I get the one with vitamin c as it helps absorb the iron better.

Nespresso Vanilla Custard Pie Pods

This is another repurchase for me as I love these pods. I drink other flavors, but this is my go to for my Nespresso.

EO Shower Gel

I get this shower gel every few months. I put one in my bathroom and one in the primary bathroom. This is our favorite scent. And we all use it. Rory, the girls and I.

Alba Conditioner

Rory uses this conditioner. I was getting smaller ones, but this one should last him about 6 months.

Alba Shampoo

This is the shampoo that goes with the conditioner that Rory likes.

Tide Powdered Laundry Detergent

Now that I cleaned out my washing machine, I am being better about wiping it out after my last load of the day, and I also changed my detergent. I was told that the powdered detergent dissolves easier and doesn't build up as much, so I changed to Tide powdered detergent.

Women's Tie Top Sleeveless Dress

I got this dress in a size small and it fits perfectly. I even have a bit room in the waist for more comfort. The tie top is adjustable and the buttons on the bottom are not useable. I talked about this dress in my Friday Favorites post and I still love it. It can be dressed up or down and I plan to wear it all Summer!

What did you buy this month on Amazon?

Friday Favorites and Happenings

*This post contains affiliate links. When you click a link, it is no cost to you and I make a small commission (pennies) from it. Thank you for supporting Sparkles and Lattes.

Happy Friday all! Can you believe we are in June? I can't. Today is the girls last day of first grade and I can't believe it is here. It feels like it went by so quickly, but slow at the same time. I snapped some photos this morning of them on their last day, but I will share those next week.

Anyways, onto Friday favorites and Happenings.

ONE. I got my nails done Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. I wanted to get something fun, but I had a photoshoot the next day and I didn't want it to scream Summer/Memorial Day when I needed something more muted.

I got all white almond shaped nails and I forgot how much I love the classic look. And I have been getting a ton of compliments on them. Sometimes simple is better.

White nails

TWO. I mentioned above that I had a photoshoot on Friday. Well, it was in one of my most favorites places....Lake Tahoe. I got to spend the day in Lake Tahoe modeling Christmas pjs. I got my hair done and my makeup done and touched up all day long. Seriously such a fun day. I hope to do more of these days.

Since I can't share photos of me, I thought I would share a few snaps of the day.

These two stole the show.

I can't wait to show you more, but I have to wait for the website and catalog release.

THREE. After spending Friday in Lake Tahoe, we went back up on Saturday for a Made in Tahoe festival. Basically it is clothes, art, gear, jewerly, etc., that is made in the Lake Tahoe area. They all come together at Palisades Ski Resort for Memorial Day weekend.

We have gone before and I usually pick up my favorite Tahoemade sweatshirt, but I heard they are going out of business. Not sure if that is true. But these are my favorite sweatshirts. I have three of them. The green below, purple and and a darker purple.

Tahoemade Sweatshirt

We always get photo on this mega chair!

FOUR. We also took the girls to their first big girl movie in the theaters. We took them to see Top Gun: Maverick. We saw it in iMax and while they loved it, it was a bit too loud for them they said. So maybe get them headphones to help with the noise. I guess regular theaters are just fine for the loudness.

This movie is rated PG-13, but there is no sex scenes, nothing violent or scary. They did say the S word quite a few times and the F word once. The theater was full of children to be honest and I felt it was totally fine for my girls to watch it. Our friend's son is 5 and he really enjoyed it.

Plus they film most of it in Lake Tahoe and Fallon, Nevada, so I recognized so many scenes.

I definitely will watch it again.

FIVE. Weekly funnies.

Have a great weekend. I am linking up with A Little Bit of Everything.
