19 Weeks

It's time for another bump update and this time I actually have a picture.  Plus I should have pictures for next week as I am going out of town this weekend which means my husband can play photographer.  I just need to be good and get some posts done this week for next week since I will be traveling for work again.  Where am I going you ask?  Palm Springs/Palm Desert and New Orleans, LA.  I CAN.NOT.WAIT.  I have never been to New Orleans and I am dying to have some amazing southern food (fried, creole, beignets, etc.).

Anyways, onto the bump/pregnancy update.
Babies and boobs are getting huge.

How far along: 19 weeks
Babies are the size of a: Zucchini/Heirloom Tomato/Mango.  Babies are about 6 inches long and 8.5 ounces each.  We had an ultrasound/anatomy scan yesterday and things are looking great.  Babies are measuring big and look to be perfect.  We have another growth scan on Friday with our perinatal doctor, so more pictures and more baby info.
Babies are:  Developing a protective coating over their skin, called vernix caseosa.  They are also developing/working on their five senses.
Maternity Clothes: I wear some and still rock some non-maternity clothes.
Stretch Marks: None yet thankfully and hope they never show up.
Sleep: So-so because I have some allergies that are making my life miserable.  Anyone know of medicine I can take?
Symptoms: Allergies, backaches and swollen feet and ankles.
Best Moment of the Week: Seeing our babies on the ultrasound moving and shaking.  Plus having dinner with friends who also have twin baby girls.  So informative and fun.
Movement: Nothing.  I was told that it might not happen for a few more weeks since there are twins in there.  Get to moving babies.
Cravings: Fruit, pizza, ice cream.  Same as always.
Gender: Two precious baby girls.
Belly Button In or Out: In half way.  My belly button looks very awkward...especially when I laugh.
Wedding Ring on or Off: On and looking pretty.  I finally got my ring checked for any loose diamonds, polished and cleaned.  Looks brand new.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.
What I Miss: Wine, especially on dinner nights with my girlfriends.
What I am Looking Forward to: Going to San Jose for the Nevada vs. San Jose State football game and having a weekend with my husband.  This much travel and I really miss him.
Labor Signs: Not even close.
Nursery: We picked out some colors for the walls, painted samples and now are trying to figure out which works best.  So hard to choose.
Emotions: Feeling ok.  These allergies are killing me and making it hard to function.  Ugh, go away allergies.  But other than that, I am feeling pretty good and no emotional meltdowns so far.

The Horror Stories of Pregnancy and Motherhood

Ok so I am jumping on the bandwagon and writing about hearing horror stories, pregnancy advice, motherhood advice, etc. I keep reading blogs and Huffington Post stories on how hard it is to have a newborn.  How "hellish" life will be once the little one(s) arrive.

It makes me cringe when I read these stories because it sets myself and other pregnant women up for a not so pleasant look to our future.  I know that motherhood is going to be hard, but each and every baby is different.  Your baby may not take to breastfeeding or is constantly crying, but my baby "could" latch on right away and be a very calm baby.  One never knows until they go through the experience.

I would rather hear that it is hard, but the most rewarding experience of their lives.  That having a baby changed their lives, but in a good way.

Since announcing that we are pregnant, we have heard so many horror stories.  Oh, so and so's water broke and so much blood came out of her that they didn't think she would live through it.  Then she experienced a horrible delivery only to have a late c-section....You will probably have a c-section.  What kind of story is this for a scared momma-to-be?

Or my body is so small that they will tear me apart if I try to deliver them vaginally.  Like a lot of stitches and pain for a month or more.  And that I should just schedule my c-section now.  I am sorry, but this is my body and I know what my body can and can not take.  Thank you very much.

And since announcing that we are having twin baby girls, I have gotten so many lovely and mean comments.  Everything from baby girls are the best to I feel so sorry for you.  I would never want twin girls.  That is a death sentence right there.

Why can't people keep their mean/rude/non-constructive comments to themselves.  I don't care if you think that having two girls is the worst thing ever.  I feel blessed to be pregnant, excited that they are beautiful little girls and I know that God chose us for these baby girls because he knows we can handle it.  Heck we will thrive on it.

So why can't people share more of the great experiences and not always the bad/worse case scenarios.  Do people do it for validation that they made it through this awful experience and we should be proud of them?  Do they do it to warn others to not have children?  I don't get it.  Sure I want to hear the bad with the good, but let's even it out a bit.

So please, share your stories/advice with me.

Gender(s) Reveal

So on Friday I told you all that we know the babies gender(s), but I hadn't revealed them yet.  Well I am finally here to reveal what the babies are.  And if you follow me on facebook or instagram then  you already know.

Friday after running errands, I bough some cupcake ingredients and baked away.  After letting them cool, I used a paring knife to cut a small part out of the top of the cupcake and saved it for later.  I mixed my colored frosting and piped it in replacing the part I cut out with a slightly smaller piece of it.  Then I frosted in basic vanilla frosting and added sprinkles so I could tell which ones had the color(s) in them.

So without further ado...
What gender(s) are the Butler babies?

Notice how big the bump is now?  Crazy.

The Butler babies are...
Identical (most likely) twin GIRLS

The husband and I couldn't be more excited.  Sure we are a bit worried how much these little princesses will cost us in the future, but the bows, dresses, cutest clothes and sparkly everything help even it out.

To say that we were surprised is an understatement as it has been with everything about this pregnancy.  We were thinking one was a boy from early on based on early ultrasounds, but we had it in our minds they were either boy/girl or boy/boy.

I can't wait to decorate their nursery.  We already hit Home Depot this weekend for paint colors which are on the walls (decisions to make now), bought supplies for DIY mobiles for each crib and bought tons of girly clothes at the Just Between Friends event.  Any other suggested DIY baby room items I should make?

Did you guess right?

Oh Hey Friday

It is finally Friday and that means Oh, Hey Friday link up with Karli from September Farm.  I don't really have any lists for this week, but I will put my five random thoughts/happenings for the week.

One.  My mom and I bought so many baby clothes yesterday at the Just Between Friends Fall Sale.  I hadn't heard about this sale until a couple months ago from a friend.  Basically it is brand new and gently used clothing, toys, books, dvds, nursing items, diaper things, bath products, etc for sale.  Since I am a first time parent, my mom and I took advantage of the Thursday pre-sale and got our shopping on.  Oh my, the clothes.  I can't even believe that our little babies will be in things that small.  We bought about two huge bags full and I can't wait to show you our haul (after the gender reveal).  Plus I can't wait to show my husband when he gets home today.

Two.  My husband comes home from his work trip.  I feel like I haven't seen him in forever.  Maybe that is because we have spent one day together in over two weeks.  Sucks, but Walter and I made it through the week with only one meltdown and that wasn't from momma.  Walter had a hard night Wednesday.  Not sure if it was the massive amounts of smoke here and lack of going on a walk in a few days or he was really missing his daddy.  Either way it was cute and annoying.

Three.  I am wearing my first pair of maternity jeans today and I actually like them.  They are flattering, cute and comfy.  Why didn't I try them earlier?  Oh ya, the thought of the huge band going over my belly freaked me out.  Now I just want to buy these in other colors.  My wardrobe is slowly building up, and my Gap shirts I bought at super discount plus the spend $50, pay $25, should arrive today.

Four.  I am doing so well in both of my fantasy football leagues this year (I know it is only two weeks in), but I have a good feeling about this year.  Now I need to win the league I am in with my husband because there is a lot of money at stake and I could use some pampering post season when my babies are due.

Five.  I got my nails done this week and got them in Niners colors.  After the horrible loss last week to the Bears, I think they needed some extra support, so I went all Niner'd (is that a word?) out.
Don't mind the crap-tastic iPhone photo

Hopefully these nails bring a weekend win over the Cardinals.

Six.  Because I can't follow rules, I am super excited my husband's best man is coming into town this weekend.  I haven't seen him since our wedding and it has been about 11 months since my husband has seen him.  He is a pretty awesome guy and now he gets to share our house with a pregnant woman, his best friend and our pup.  I wonder how Walter will react to him being there?  Too bad I can't have any beers with them this weekend.  Hopefully a mocktail will do the trick.

I hope you have a good weekend and you should join in on the link up below.  Do it.

18 Weeks...Almost Half Way There.

I actually have a baby update post on time this week. Sorry for the lack of week 17 as I was traveling and never wrote the post beforehand.  I am sure you were all so sad that it never made it live.

I can tell you my bump has grown a ton over the last couple weeks.  I feel huge, but I am really loving it.  Now only if I could get these little babies to kick and let me feel it.

How far along: 18 weeks
Babies are the size of a: Bell Pepper/Sweet Potato.  Babies are about 5.6 inches long and 6.7 ounces each.  We have a growth appointment next week to really see how many inches and how many ounces they are.
Babies are:  passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing.  (I saw them on the ultrasound this week and found this to be VERY true.  They were moving and shaking their little butts.)
Maternity Clothes:  I caved and bought a few things on my trip and plan to get more this week.  So far I bought a pair of jeans (with the band that goes over the bump.  Never thought that would happen.), some shirts, a sweater and two dresses.
Stretch Marks: None yet thankfully and hope they never show up.
Sleep: Pretty good this week since my husband is on a trip and I have the bed to myself, oh and a little cute pup, but he sleeps on his dads side now.
Symptoms: Bloody noses (really bad one this morning), allergies, backaches and swollen feet and ankles.  I wore heels for the first time in weeks yesterday and I could barely walk when I took them off.  My feet swell a bit everyday.  Ugh.
Best Moment of the Week: Seeing our little babies on the ultrasound and finding out/confirming what they are.  I can't wait to share.  What do you all think they are?
Movement: Nothing that I know of, but my momma friends say I probably have and thought it was gas.  Come on babies, move so I can really feel you.
Cravings: Fruit, pizza, ice cream.
Gender: We know and are sharing this weekend.
Belly Button In or Out: In half way.  My belly button looks very awkward...especially when I laugh.
Wedding Ring on or Off: On and actually looser.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Nothing right now.
What I Miss: Not always feeling so full and my bikini body.
What I am Looking Forward to: Friends visiting this weekend, my husband coming home and buying tons of clothes at a baby event on Thursday with my mom.
Labor Signs: Not even close.
Nursery: We can start working on the nursery now.  I can't wait to paint and decorate.
Emotions: Feeling pretty good other than being sad that my husband is gone on a work trip.  If I travel for work, I am good to go, but when he leaves, I am so sad.  Dang pregnancy hormones.

I promise a picture this weekend when my husband is home and can take one of me.  I am so bad at selfies, I don't even want to try it again.  Sorry.

A Week Back East

Last week I went to Philadelphia, Trenton, NJ, Jacksonville, FL and Sea Island, GA for work.  It was a short and fast week.  But it felt nice to get out of the office and finally travel again.  Before I recap all the yummy food I had (because food is my favorite thing ever right now), I wanted to talk about flying/traveling while pregnant.

First, my doctor said I could go through the full body scan, but with twins he wouldn't recommend it.  So I opted out of it.  Reno airport and Philly airport were very accommodating.  I got a pat down and all was said and done.  Easy peasy.  But in Jacksonville, they weren't as nice.  "You know it is safe for you and your baby to go through the scanner.  It won't hurt you.  Do you really want a pat down?"  Why yes I do sir.  I am pregnant with twins.  End of story, let me be.  Super annoying.

Second, I thought I am not that big, I can still kind of fit into my jeans, this should be easy.  Wrong.  Dead wrong.  Those seats are uncomfortable.  And way worse when you are pregnant.  I had to unbutton my jeans half way through my first flight.  Never again will I wear jeans on a plane while being pregnant.  Leggings all the way.  And that neck pillow I thought would help.  Nope.  It pushed my neck forward causing me to strain a muscle on the left shoulder area.  It still hurts.  I even tried putting that pillow behind my back which only made me arch forward.  Not comfy.

I used to sleep so easily on a plane.  Not anymore.  I am uncomfortable, needing water every 5 minutes and peeing 10 minutes after that.  Phew.

I know these sound some petty and I probably sound lame, but it was tougher than I thought.  I have a trip in two weeks and this time I plan to fly in leggings, get a pillow for my whole back, wear comfy shoes and go to the chiropractor before and after my trip.  Hoping this one will be more comfortable.  I have 2 work trips and one personal trip in the next month and a half, so any suggestions on flying as comfortable as I can?

Now onto my trip.  Monday I flew from Reno to Philly.  I arrived pretty late in Philly, so I was able to check into my hotel, grab dinner and pass out.

I went to Nomad Roman Pizza and had the spicy soppresseta pizza.  And I ate every last bit of it.  Pregnancy problems.  I was hungry after a day of flying and it tasted so good.  No shame here.

Tuesday I woke up early (this never happens) and ventured out for some crepes before my drive to Trenton, NJ.  I hit up Cafe L'Aube Rittenhouse Square and this was an amazing choice.  In Reno, there used to be a crepery that my friend worked at and I went all the time.  That place has been closed for years now and this satisfied my crepe craving.
Sucre Citron Crepe with lemon zest, lemon juice and a yummy sugary mix

I drove to Trenton, worked all day, ate at a cute diner with the people I was up there to see and drove back to the city.  Trenton is no joke at night, so I was out of there before then.

I worked up an appetite shopping for maternity clothes and went to Luke's Lobster.  I went to one in Bethesda, Maryland and found out they had one in Philly.  Total score.  They have the freshest bread, lobster, Maine chips and specialty Maine sodas.  Get the blueberry soda.  Best thing EVER.
Lobster sandwich combo $18 includes lobster sandwich (look how much lobster is stuffed into this thing!), chips and a soda
Salt and Vinegar chips and the best Blueberry Soda

The best way to end the night is to have gelato because what the babies want, the babies get.  So we ventured to Capogiro Gelato for some pistachio and Thai coconut gelato.  Yum.  I just wish I saw the sugar cones before ordering.  That would have made this top notch.

Wednesday was a travel day from Philly to Jacksonville, FL.  So it was pretty much spent in airports and airplanes.  I did have a fancy yummy dinner at Restaurant Orsay of steaj stroganoff and an amazing salad, but I didn't take any photos.  I guess I was too ravenous to think twice about it.  Again, I crashed out early because traveling while pregnant does that to you.

Thursday I was fortunate enough to drive to Sea Island, GA for work.  The drive was gorgeous and a pleasant change from the Philly to Trenton Drive.  After working part of the day, I went to Southern Soul Barbeque for lunch.  I am still dreaming about this sandwich.  I went with the crowd favorite of the southern soul sandwich which is a jumbo pulled pork sandwich.  They top with slaw at no charge and this is a must on your sandwich.  I doused it in their yummy signature sauce after a few bites sans sauce just to try it out.  Both were great.  I loved the sauce so much, I bought some and couldn't stop texting my husband about it.  I need to go back there.  And to think it was one of the best little bbq places right in southern Georgia.

Not the actual bottle I bought, but their mega bottle.  Yum.

On the way back to Florida, I saw a ton of cop cars on the freeway holding back traffic and then race off.  Turns out they were catching a murderer from Georgia and caught him right over the Florida border.  Pretty fun to watch and so happy they caught him.

That night I did some more shopping in an outdoor mall (super hot and humid) for more maternity clothes.  Oh so fun.  Bought a bunch of stuff, but still need more.  Then I drove to Ponte Vedra Beach (just outside of Jacksonville) for some seafood at Palm Valley Fish Camp.  I got the fried food combo with shrimp and deviled crab.  Wow.  I have never had anything like the deviled crab.  They take the crab out of the shell, mix in celery and other things, put it back and fry it.  Yummy.  And it came with two of those.  It also came with hush puppies, slaw (was ok) and fries.  I was really stuffed, but kept dreaming of desserts that were being brought out.  That is what happens when you sit at the bar.  So I ordered the cranberry bread pudding (their signature dessert dish that the sweetest bartender recommended).  I ate about half of it and wish I could have ate it all.  Best fried food meal ever.
Don't mind the ketchup (that was only used on fries)
Warm gooey heaven

I finished watching the game at my hotel and crashed out.  Don't worry, I managed to work out three times last week to burn off all the yummy, not so healthy, but ever so good food off.

Friday I flew home to my husband and cute pup, Walter.

Oh and here is a crappy selfie I attempted to document my bump.  Why do I ever try to take selfies?  I make them look awkward.
The twins have fully popped

Ok enough pictures and travel talk.  Now I want a big plate of that bread pudding or some ice cream.

Gender Predictions Based on Old Wives Tales

Ugh, sorry for the lack of posts all last week.  I was back East for a work trip and never got down to the business center to write, upload pictures or do anything social media related (other than a few instagram browses).  But I am working on a recap of my week away full of amazing food and pregnancy travel woes, so hopefully I get that out tomorrow.

In the meantime, I wanted to update you all that we should find out what baby B is today , should it cooperate.  We already know baby A (I think I have the A and B correct but always forget based on position), so fingers crossed we find out today.  And by we, I mean me.  Husband is traveling for work, so he gets a phone call with the news.

About a month or two ago, I was introduced to a new blog, Happily Ever Parker.  And way back before she found out she was having a precious little girl, she did the gender predictions from old wives tales.  I thought it would be fun to do this for myself...even though we are having TWINS.  So we might have one of each or two of the same.

Chinese Birth Calendar
This test predicts the gender based on the Chinese lunar age at the time you got pregnant and the Chinese lunar month which you conceived.

Now I tried this both ways:  First, I entered the date of conception + my age it is says GIRL
Second, with the babies estimated due date + my age it says GIRL

Ring/String Test

Way back when I first found out we were pregnant, we went on our annual trip to Graeagle.  My in-laws wanted to try the string test and needle test.  Tie a string and needle together and hold over your stomach. If the ring swings in circles it's a girl. If it swings back and forth it's a boy.
Results = First it was GIRL for a few seconds and then went to BOY

Morning Sickness

Rumors state that if you suffer from morning sickness, then you are having a girl.
Result = GIRL

Heartbeat Rate

If the heartbeat is over 140 bpm you are having a girl, under 140 it's a boy.

Result = GIRL (158 bpm, 156 bpm)

Cravings

If your craving are mostly for sweets you're having a little girl. Salty and Sour it's all boy.

Result = BOY/GIRL I want it all!  From pickles and chips to cupcakes and candy.

Adult Acne

If you break out that little girl is stealing your beauty. No breakouts and you have a Mr. (stolen from Happily Ever Parker. Best way to put it).

Result = GIRL I rarely get zits or breakouts and lately I have been breaking out like crazy.  I feel like a teenager except I never experienced this as a teenager.

So what's your vote?  BOY/GIRL  GIRL/GIRL  BOY/BOY

Oh Hey Friday + 16 Weeks

Oh Hey Friday, so happy to see you again and so soon (but not soon enough).  I have a longer work day than usual.  Boo, but I have a lot of fun things planned for the weekend.  Tonight we have the tailgate and second Nevada football game, tomorrow is my Sunday chores (since I am out of town all next week), Sunday is dawn patrol for the Hot Air Balloon Races, getting a pedicure, watching the Niners and cuddling with my husband and pup.

Let's get down to the link up with Karli and my five things (because I don't have any lists, favorites or a general sense on what I want to talk about today).

One.  This is the first time I am traveling (on a plane) since I was about 8 weeks.  I have a bump now and I don't know if I should or can go through those full body scanners.  So ladies, do you know?  Or should I just opt for the pat down/metal detector?

Two.  Last night was the official start of the NFL season and I was beyond excited.  Plus I racked up some major points in my fantasy leagues last night.  The game wasn't so much fun the second half, but I had to watch it all the way through.  NFL trumps most other tv shows.

Three.  I have been really slacking on the blogging lately.  I feel like all I talk about is pregnancy and I don't want to bore those who aren't interested.  Plus I keep forgetting to take weekly bump photos.  I usually think of it after the gym when I am sweaty and gross, but those gym clothes do show the bump off beautifully.  I need to stay on top of this.

Four.  I will be in the Philadelphia area Monday through Wednesday next week (don't worry, my husband is home with the pup) and in Jacksonville, FL/Sea Island, GA Wednesday through Friday.  Any food recommendations or things to see in the evenings?

Five.  We bought tickets to see Daniel Tosh this December (front row baby) as one of our last BIG date nights.  I can't wait.  We saw him last year in Tahoe and he did not disappoint.  This year he will be in Reno, we will be front seat and I am hoping he makes fun of my huge pregnant self at that time.  He offends everyone and I love it.  We also need more date night suggestions for when we get closer to having these babies and even date nights for after.  Suggestions?

And since I slacked Wednesday and yesterday (I blame it on the short week), here is my bump update sans picture.  But don't worry, I will get a beauty of a picture tonight at the tailgate.

How far along: 16 weeks, 2 days

Babies are the size of a: Dill Pickle/Avocado.  Babies are 4 1/2 inches long and about 4 ounces each.  Their ears have developed and they can hear the sounds that I do.  They are starting to kick a lot, but momma can't feel them yet.
Maternity Clothes:  Probably need to buy a pair of pregnancy jeans this week.  My best fitting jeans are pretty tight today, though not uncomfortable.
Stretch Marks: None yet thankfully.
Sleep: So much better now that I have my pregnancy pillow.  It means less room for the husband and pup, but I sleep so well now.  I am in love.
Symptoms: Bloody noses, allergies, backaches...same as last week.
Best Moment of the Week: NFL football started!
Movement: I may have felt them two different times when I was bending over to change my clothes.  There was a distinctive thump in my uterus area and I am hoping it was the babies.
Cravings: Pizza.  I woke up last night at 11 when my husband got home from his softball game and proclaimed I really needed pizza soon.  I did fall back asleep pretty fast, but I still have pizza on the brain.  Oh and all the tailgate food I will consume tonight.  And I am still hooked on fruit.
Gender: Hoping for a boy and girl.  We know one babies gender, but the other wouldn't show us its goods.  We should know at my next appointment on the 23rd.  Then its shopping galore for this momma.
Belly Button In or Out: In half way.  My belly button looks very awkward.
Wedding Ring on or Off: On and actually looser.
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: The smell of garbage and people reheating their lunches.  Blah.
What I Miss: Beer and wine.  Especially at the tailgates.
What I am Looking Forward to: My work trip.
Labor Signs: Not even close.
Nursery: Not much done.
Emotions: Feeling pretty good.

Wednesday's Confessions

You know when you get an amazing night of sleep and you are really pumped in the morning?  That was me this morning.  Even singing "Too legit to quit".  I am sure my husband was so pleased with me this morning.

Anyways, It is Wednesday and we are almost through this week which will bring another football game, packing for work travel next week and the hot air balloon races.  I can't wait for dawn patrol this weekend.

Since it is a Confessions link up day with Bella, I have some random confessions this week.

I know one of the babies genders, but I refuse to tell anyone just yet.  I know it is killing my friends, and maybe a dozen cupcake will get it out of me, but I just want to know the other babies gender before revealing them.  One baby was moving and shaking, spreading its legs, showing us its butt and happy to show us.  Baby 2 was not having it.  It just wanted to show us its head and wouldn't turn.  Sassy little ones I tell ya.  Hopefully we get the other babies gender at my next appointment in a week and a half.  Fingers crossed.

I am dying to break out my leggings, boots and sweaters.  These work slacks and jeans aren't cutting it anymore.  Sure they fit, but are so oh UNcomfortable when I sit down.  Why can't I wear maxi skirts all day every day?

I will be in Philadelphia, Florida and Georgia next week for work and shopping is on my agenda after the work day.  Oh and copious amounts of food.  Watch out bank account.

I have a lot of work and personal travel coming up and I couldn't be more excited.  I have to get it all in before they tell me I can't travel anymore.  I have the three mentioned above plus New Jersey, Philadelphia (again), Louisiana, California and Las Vegas.  The babies are going to see so much before they are even born.

My pregnancy pillow was the best purchase I have made since becoming pregnant.  Sure my pup and husband have less room, but I sleep so soundly and comfortably.  I just wish I could bring it to work with me and cozy up to it.

And I am out of confessions/randomness.

Labor Day Weekend

It is Tuesday (first day back in the office) and I am not grumpy like I am normally on Mondays. I call this a win.  I had a really good weekend followed by a crazy, traumatic morning, but things are better now.

Thursday  was actually my Friday and started off right with this baby.
Cake donut with sprinkles.  The way to a pregnant girls heart.

I took Friday off of work to have a long four day weekend and it was definitely worth it.  Walter went to the groomers and he looks handsome as ever.  We had an ultrasound and fluid check with our perinatal doctor.  We found out one of the babies genders, but the other wouldn't cooperate (so hopefully in two weeks we will know for sure what both babies are).  I got my hair done and we went to food truck Fridays.  It was definitely a great day off.
 Check out the bump.
At food truck Fridays in the rose garden.

Saturday was the first Wolf Pack football game of the season.  We got up early, headed to breakfast and then to the tailgate.  This is the first tailgate in a long time where I didn't consume any beer, mimosas, bloody marys or any alcohol.  I just pigged out on all the yummy food.

The Wolf Pack won their first game of the season against Southern Utah.  It was hot, but I loved every second of it.  Next game is this Friday against Washington State.  This is going to be a tough game, but I have faith since it is at home.  Plus we have another amazing tailgate planned.
Butler babies first Wolf Pack game.

We barbequed after the game and kept it low key.  Plus we watched more college football.  I think that is all we watched this weekend.

Sunday we drove out to the cantaloupe festival in Fallon, Nevada.  I have never been, but had always wanted to go.  It was disappointing the say the least.  I expected lots cantaloupe vendors, cantaloupe products and everything just surrounded around cantaloupe.  There was one place to buy fresh cantaloupes, one booth dedicated to cantaloupe foods and then a cantaloupe daquari place.  Everything else was just random crafts, random foods and nothing centered on cantaloupes.  I don't know if it was smaller and not as fun as previous years due to the drought, but we were disappointed to say the least.

But we did turn the evening around with sushi and it was so good.

Monday was spent doing the usual Sunday things...laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping and making our delicious homemade spaghetti.  I am really looking forward to the leftovers for lunch today.

So now onto the traumatic night/early morning.  This may only seems traumatic to me and my family, but it got to me.  Around 2 am, I woke up to use the bathroom and Walter bolts off the bed to go outside.  I am thinking, he is like his momma and has to pee, but then I hear him barking loudly.  I took off running to the dining room sliding glass door to get him to stop.  But I see him chasing something, him (or something) yelp, hear some growling and loud barking.  I scream and run to the door that leads outside (the sliding door has security pieces in it and it takes too long to open).  Without thinking, I run outside and chase whatever is near Walter.  It runs to the fence, up the fence and jumps over.  All the while, my husband is freaked out and chasing me.  I don't know what kind of animal got into it with Walter, but it scared me.  It scared me so much that it took me at least two hours after to get back to sleep.  This was after locking his doggy door so if that thing returned, it couldn't get inside.  I hope it was just a cat and not a coyote or raccoon.  Ugh, my dog sure did defend us and his territory, but this pregnant momma always thinks and assumes the worst, so I am a bit worried of the next few evenings.  I hope Walter marks his territory and scares off whatever was near.

On a related note, my husband told me I need to grab the bat next time because we don't know if it is human, animal, etc out there and I need to protect myself.  Instincts ran and I just wanted to protect my puppy, but my husband is right.

I was able to squeeze in another two hours of sleep and then it was time for work.  Like I said, I am pretty surprised I am this cheery this morning.

So here is to a short work week and then a week away in Georgia, Florida and New Jersey for work.

How was your weekend?
