Hi all! June was a good month for me on the reading front and then I got behind again in July. But I already read one book in August and half way through another. So maybe I will get through three this month?
So what did I read last month?
The Golden Couple - Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen
Genre: Mystery, Thriller, Suspense
Rating: 4 1/2 stars
I had been looking forward to reading this book for awhile. I think it was Biana who posted about it and I anxiously awaited it to hit my libraries hold list. Marissa and Matthew seem like the perfect couple...until she cheats on him. But Marissa doesn't know how to tell Matthew about what she did. So she seeks a therapist, but not just any therapist, the ten step therapist who lost her license. But Avery is highly recommended and has so much success with her patients.
As each step unfolds, you find out more about really happened and how Marissa and Matthew both always seem to be lying. And you find out that Avery is connected to them, but how? I did figure out the twist, but then missed the twist at the end.
I flew through this book and really enjoyed it as I did with their other book The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl.
Here is Amazon's synopsis:
If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in ten sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. She helps people overcome everything, from domineering parents to assault. Her successes almost help her absorb the emptiness she feels since her husband’s death.
Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple, until Marissa cheats. She wants to repair things – both because she loves her husband, and for the sake of their eight-year-old son. After a friend forwards an article about Avery, Marissa takes a chance on this maverick therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods.
When the Bishops glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.
