Happy Friday all! We have so much new stuff going on in our lives since I wrote my blog post that posted on Wednesday. Lots of medical stuff. And just life in general.
Onto, Friday favorites and happenings.
ONE. First medical update. About a year ago I told you all that Sutton had a cyst on her head. We found it last year when we went to Graeagle and thought it was a bug bite. But it never went away. We took her to the pediatrician and then the dermatologist. They told us it was a cyst and that it would never go away, but as long as it wasn't bothering her to just let it be.
Well it started bothering her again a few months back, so I got her another referral from the dermatologist to a general surgeon. The same office that I had my DR and hernia repair at. Well Wednesday was her appointment and she needs a minor surgery. Since she is so young and it is her head, they are going to put her under. It will be a 20 minute surgery to remove the cyst and everything in it and then close her up.
The doctor said they don't have to cut or shave her hair and it will be very easy to fix. She said this is our best course of action since it will only get bigger, hurt more and bother her more. So she has surgery on Thursday June 17th. So please keep my little lady in your prayers.
TWO. Second medical update. I had an appointment Tuesday afternoon with my ENT. It was a yearly check up on the button in my nose. If you remember, I had a silicone button put into my septum because after two surgeries, it created a hole. It is very common. Anyways, the button looks amazing and hasn't moved.
But I told him that I have had excess mucus/congestion like I was sick without being sick since I had covid. I have also had major headaches since then. So he did an in house CT Scan and told me that my sinuses are majorly inflamed and closed up. He said I was the fourth patient he had seen that day who had sinus issues in the past, got covid and it brought them back.
So with my insurance, they require a few steps before surgery. Which hopefully I can avoid. I am on a very heavy dose of antibiotics and steroids. I have to take these for 2 weeks. And it is a crazy schedule. One pill is twice a day and the other I take 6 pills for 5 days, 5 pills for 4 days, 3 pills for 3 days, 1 pill for two days. I had to put it in my calendar because that is hard to remember. Anyways, I take them for 2 weeks, then call them to see how I am doing.
If I am a bit better or not better at all, then I have to go on another dose. If I am way better, then do nothing. If after my second dose and I am not completely better and my CT Scan doesn't show major improvement then I have to have another minor in house surgery. Not as extensive as my last sinus surgery and recovery is only a day or so. So fingers crossed these steroids and antibiotics help.
THREE. Last weekend I bought two bathing suits. One in person and one online. I saw the one that I bought online in person but they didn't have my size and it was over $150 for the set. I got it online for about $102. Still a lot, but better. Anyways, I am waiting for the online one to arrive today to see which I like better. I will return the other one. Here are the two sets that I got.
Or this one (online order).
FOUR. This week I got my hair done and I got some longer extensions. It has been 8 months since I added in the extensions and my hair was as long as my extensions. Last time we cut my hair and extensions to match and it was time for a new pair. Normally, your hair lasts up to a year and a half and mine would have. I even brought home my old hair and some leftover new hair. You just need to take care of your hair and it will last forever. So here is what it looked liked after. So.In.Love.
FIVE. I have no weekly funnies today as I tried all day yesterday to upload pictures and it wouldn't let me. I had 6 funnies to show you. Maybe if I can load them tomorrow morning they will be here.
Have a great weekend. I am linking up with A Little Bit of Everything.
Bless your heart. So so sorry about your sinuses. Orating for a good outcome for you and for Sutton’s surgery. Hope you have a sweet holiday weekend.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your sinus issues. Its like you cant catch a break with them. Sending hugs to you and Sutton for her surgery as well. Those swimsuits are cute! I hope you guys have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I can't. If it isn't one thing, it is another. And my antibiotics and steroids' haven't changed a thing yet. Ugh. I am more worried about Sutton than myself though. We did have a good weekend. I hope you did as well!
DeleteOh man! I hope your sinus issues clear up so you can avoid surgery! I also hope that Sutton's surgery goes well! These things are never easy!
ReplyDeleteI do too. I am not about to go through that again. Sadly, we are 7 days in on the meds and they haven't worked at all. But I have to be on them for up to a month, so fingers crossed. It is so tough for the kids surgeries. I was thinking of you guys when we found out our options. Sutton has to have a covid test too. Ugh.
DeleteBless your heart - I hate how bad your ENT situation is & that you still have to take meds & struggle.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Sutton will be jsut fine. I had a cyst that got enlarged & infected & they did surgery with me AAWAKE - it was HORRIFIC - the shot to numb it - it was one of the worst pains in my life - so it'll be good they let Sutton sleep through that.
I hate it too. I feel like it is never ending. And covid made it so much more worse. Ugh. It sucks, but I expect the worst now. And I hate that feeling. Sutton will be a rockstar, but I just worry about my baby. I am so glad she is asleep for it too. I know I could handle it awake, but she is just too small like you said. That is an awful story!!!
DeleteDang girl I hope you catch a break! Nothing is worse than your sinus cavity not acting right. Your hair looks amazing of course!
ReplyDeleteMe too. My sinuses are just awful. I was doing so good with them and now they are crap again. Thank you. I LOVE my mermaid hair!
DeleteI hope everything goes well with Sutton's surgery, and I hope that your meds clear everything up for you as well! Y'all are both in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I really hope they do too. And Sutton will be ok, but thank you for the prayers!!!
DeleteHope that the medication works for you and you don't need surgery - and that your little one's surgery goes well! :)
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks so good too - I can't wait until I've grown mine that long again - I keep growing it to donate it but I'm sure it's growing extra slow this time, haha!
Hope you are having a great weekend :)
Away From The Blue
Thank you. I sure do hope so as well.
DeleteMy sister grows her hair out to donate it as well. I love this long hair, but it might be a pain for the Summer. Ha.
I hope you had a good weekend too!
I don't think I knew you had Covid. I hope you don't need another surgery. And hope Sutton's goes well too.
ReplyDeleteI did. I didn't have bad symptoms or many symptoms at all. Just major headaches and fatigue. I had it pretty easy, but it still sucked. But ever since, I have had extra fluid in my sinus passages and it is becoming worse and worse. To the point I thought I had either bad allergies or a sinus infection which I don't have either. Just an insane amount of fluid in there. And thank you. I hope hers is smooth and easy going. Not like mine usually are.
DeleteHope everything goes well with Sutton's surgery and that the meds work for you so you don't have to have surgery!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so too!
Deletehope everything goes well, and nice days for you and you loved one

ReplyDeleteThank you. She will do great, but just sucks that she has to have surgery. And yes to my sinuses being the biggest pain in the butt ever. I hope these meds work. And thank you. I LOVE my hair a lot.
