Happy Friday all! I survived my first week after surgery. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. They were heard and felt!! I am slowly feeling better each day and hope (and know) that this will be my last surgery for a long time. I don't want to say ever because you just don't know the future, but for now, it will be the last for a long time (years hopefully).
Onto Friday Favorites and happenings.
ONE. I have been binging shows like crazy. Especially this week. I finished Tiny Pretty Things and Dare Me. Plus I caught up on some movies that I had saved on Netflix. Oh and my guilty pleasure, Riverdale, is back!
Anyways, I definitely recommend Tiny Pretty Things. It is about a ballerina school and it is a bit dark, provocative (lots of sex scenes) and the dancing is amazing. It is like Pretty Little Liars meets Gossip Girl.
TWO. So remember how I told you that I received the Bala Bangles for Christmas from my sister and brother-in-law? Well I have been using them for about a month now and I love them. This is (was for right now) my workout schedule...Monday, Wednesday and Friday I do a combination of stair stepper, walking or elliptical and then weights. Monday is legs, Wednesday is arms and Friday is back/core. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I walk on the treadmill and do a lot of stretching.
But I have incorporated the Bala Bangles when I walk on the treadmill. I usually put them on my ankles, but sometimes my arms. It adds just enough weight to notice it and the calorie burn goes way up. After I am healed, I want to use them on the stair stepper.
If you have been going back and forth on these, I say get them. I love them.
THREE. So after talking to my husband about Valentine's Day, we decided to go out for it....BUT not on actual Valentine's Day. It is tough to get a reservation as we are at 25% capacity in restaurants. And they usually offer a prefix menu which is costly and not always what you want. AND we are doing this for our monthly date night. My parents (hi! and thank you) are taking the girls overnight the day before V-Day and we are going to a new-to-us steakhouse in town. Plus my friend is a waiter there and will be serving us! So fun for everyone.
Now normally we do something at home like a little date night and spoil the girls with something small, but this year we are just treating ourselves to dinner...oh and spoiling the girls a bit.
What are your Valentine's Day plans?
FOUR. This is your yearly reminder to back everything up to your iCloud, external hard drive or where ever you keep your data. I have been awful about this and my personal laptop is now 10 years old.
After my mother-in-law sent us a video of the girls in the NICU, I realized that I don't have those videos on my phone anymore. I am not sure if they are on my iCloud or not as I took them with an old iPhone. I pray that they are as back-up. But I have been trying to update my laptop, so I can add them to my iCloud from there. It is just a slow process.
And I also bought an external hard drive to put everything on. We have one somewhere, but last year after we finished the renovation, we moved all that stuff into a room in the garage and haven't brought it back out yet. So I bought this one as a back up, so I can add everything as soon as it arrives.
This is the one that I bought.
FIVE. Weekly funnies.
Have a great weekend. I am linking up with A Little Bit of Everything.
So glad to hear you’re healing nicely. Your funnies are fabulous and I’m totally getting those bangles. I have a stairstepper and I’ve been using it a lot since I can’t get my workouts in outside with the cold and ice. I’m going to get them. Hope you have a great day sweetie!
ReplyDeleteThey would be perfect for your stair stepper. I can't wait to use mine again. And thank you. I am healing, just taking longer than I thought it would.
DeleteI'm so glad you're healing nicely. I've been thinking about you. And I've heard great things about Tiny Pretty Things. I'm going to add it to my list of shows to watch!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. It means a lot to me. It is a good show. Especially if you love ballet or dance shows. The performances they put on our beautiful!
DeleteGlad you're recovering well! I was wondering about Tiny Pretty Things. I had started Dare Me at one point but never finished!
ReplyDeleteIt is worth the finish. I had no idea it was a book before and now I want to read it to find out what happens. Ha. They leave you at a cliff hanger in Dare me. Tiny Pretty Things is good. Watch it!
DeleteTiny Pretty Things sounds like a show I might want to watch. I had those Bala Bangles on my Christmas wish list, I may have to get them for myself. I do a lot of weights during the week...but it would be nice to have something for all the outside walking I do. Though, earlier this week I pushed Zoe around in her stroller. And that is some serious added weight. Hahahaha. Hope you guys enjoy your vday plans! I got some fun stuff for Zoe, and Chris and I will probably just have some homemade lasagna or something.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good show. And the ballet is amazing. I loved that part. I love dance shows. It is such a good purchase. I love walking with them and I can't wait to use them on my stair stepper. Plus the versatility of wearing on your wrists or ankle is awesome. Oh I bet it is. I remember pushing my girls in the stroller. Total workout!!! I love lasagna. That is my love language!!
DeleteSl glad that your are recovering nicely! I am hoping for take out from somewhere for Vday...but we will see cause B can make a really good steak ☺️
ReplyDeleteI love a good steak though! But take out is good too. We are only going out since we haven't been out in awhile and my parents want to watch the girls. We are doing that the day before though.
DeleteGlad to hear your recovery is going well, Danielle! Hope you are feeling back-to-normal very soon. We don't have big plans on Valentine's Day. We never do, but that's only because our anniversary is a week and a half later and we make a bigger deal with that obviously. Hope you guys enjoy a dinner out!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope I am too. Recovery has been difficult this time for sure. My parents anniversary is after Valentine's day too, so they always go big for that. What are you guys doing for your anniversary?
DeleteI am so glad you are having a good recovery! We are just going to make dinner and sit by the fire for V day. They one time we celebrated it was an epic disaster so we don't celebrate it officially anymore. Enjoy your dinner out and your weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt is a rough recovery, but I am surviving it. Ha. I love the idea of that too. I want a lobster and steak dinner by the fire!!! Haha. I have some past Valentine's Day dates that were sooo awful. I hear you on it being a awkward day.
DeleteGlad you are recovering well! My husband and I have been watching Halt and Catch fire on Netflix; it reminds me a bit of Mad Men but it's all about the tech industry back when they were developing the first computers and games. It's pretty good and we got sucked in rather quickly.
ReplyDeleteOh that is very interesting. I will look into it. I have never heard of it.
DeleteGlad you're on the mend, friend! I just finished Bridgerton and recently binged A Teacher and Normal People. Steve and I just started The Blacklist last night (which I know is old!) and were hooked. Your Valentine's Day sounds like it'll be a fun one! We're just planning on doing some fondue with the girls, I think. Can't go wrong with chocolate and cheese. ;) xo!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I binged A Teacher too. It was awkward, but I just couldn't stop watching it. I have never heard of Normal People. I will look into that one. And I haven't seen the Blacklist either. I am all about a good show whether it is new or been out for a long time. I love the idea of fondue with kids. We might need to do that soon as a date night with the girls or for next Valentine's Day!
DeleteI'm sorry I'm so behind with things and didn't realize about your surgery. I hope all went well and you are on recovering ok. That sounds like a fun way to celebrate Valentine's day. I think we'll be ordering in. The boys have off the two days after so I was hoping we could get away for a long weekend, maybe to an airbnb, but I don't think that's happening.
