Butler Twins at 12 Months!

So I am a little behind on the girls' 12 month update, but only because I wanted to have all their new stats.

Well the girls are officially ONE years old, and this last year flew by. It feels like yesterday we were in the hospital delivering the girls and trying to figure out what our life would be like for the next year. It was better than I ever imagined it would be.

The girls have changed so much and are now toddlers (gulp). How can that even be?

12 Month Update...

nicknames: Avery: Avery Girl, Avey, Bunny, Avery Madison  Sutton: Sutton Muffin, Sutte, Bear Cub, Sutton Kira

weight: Sutton AND Avery now weigh 19 1/2 pounds. Sutton finally caught up to her sister after being half a pound smaller most of her life thus far. That puts the girls in the 50th % for weight.

Sutton is 29 1/2 inches long (70th %) and 47.4 cm head circumference (95th %). Avery is 29 3/8 inches long (~65th %) and 47.6 cm head circumference (98th %).

Sutton has grown 12 1/4 inches in length and gained 16 pounds 9 oz. Avery has grown 11 7/8 inches in length and gained 16 pounds.
sleep: Sleep has been better this month with the girls only waking up once or twice. They did have a few days in there that they had a growth spurt which caused them to wake up more, but this month we have had better sleep. And they are getting better with their naps. Longer naps!

eats: The girls are trying new foods everyday. They have had so much people food this month. They finally have 6 teeth each which means they can chew food so much better. They love their cherrios, yogurt, cheese, bread, chicken, tortillas, eggs, etc. Sutton will try anything you give her. Avery takes a few minutes to try something, but she usually loves it after. The girls were drinking about 27 ounces of formula plus yogurt, a puree and cheerios and what was on our plates. The girls started whole milk at 12 months!

loves: Sutton: Sutton loves to crawl around everywhere. She is super fast at crawling. She loves to babble, say mama, mom and dada ALL the time. She loves to give the biggest and strongest hugs. She is also a fan of open mouth kisses and slobbering on you. She loves to play with blocks. She loves toppling them over and putting them into things. Sutton also loves her stuffed animals. Sutton loves food. Especially yogurt and Cheerios. Sutton loves to sit up in her crib, pull herself up on everything and pretend everything is a drum. Sutton loves Patty Cake, Peek-a-Boo, and If You're Happy and You
 Know It.
Avery: Avery loves crawling around and following her sister everywhere. Avery loves to cuddle and give hugs. She is also a lover of kisses, pretending she is being eaten and screaming. Avery loves to talk all the time. She will babble, but also say mama, dada, baba and ya. Avery has learned to clap and claps at everything. She sits up in bed every morning, so when we go in to get her, she is already up. She has been pulling herself up on all the furniture at home and daycare. Avery loves playing with her toys and smashing cupcakes. Avery also loves Patty Cake, Peek-a-Boo, and If You're Happy and You Know It. She loves when you sing to her.

dislikes: Teething, being sick, when mommy and daddy leave the room, missing nap time and being hungry.

clothing size: The girls are wearing 12 month clothing (and a few 18 month).

diaper size: Size 3.
Baby girls, mommy and daddy can't believe you are ONE! Thank you for choosing us to be your parents, being the sweetest babies EVER and such a joy! Mommy and daddy love you both so much. We can't wait to see what the next year holds!

This month we celebrated your first Christmas, your first birthday, said goodbye to Nick and Nathalie, played in the snow, met Santa, went to a Nevada basketball game, hung out with family and went to Christmas parties.

You two are the light of our lives! Love Mommy and Daddy!

Weekending

Monday already?! This weekend flew by in an instant (as it always does), but it was a good one.

I didn't work Friday since we had the girls' 12 month check up (post coming tomorrow about it). I was able to run some errands, walk Walter and get a bunch of play time in with my girls. We went to dinner that evening at a restaurant we USUALLY love, but they changed up their menu and concept. It was still good, but way more expensive than last time. And they didn't have our favorite dishes anymore. Total bummer. We came home to watch more Making A Murderer.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early to get the girls ready for some play time with their grandparents while mommy and daddy went snowboarding. We snowboarded for 2 1/2 hours straight and had a blast. Pretty good snow for not snowing the last two days prior to it. After snowboarding, we headed back down the mountain to grab some in-n-out (deserved it after snowboarding) and get home to our babies. We got home just in time to feed them and put them down for a nap.

We went to a friends children's birthday party at a place called Jump Man Jump. Think of a warehouse with lots of bounce houses and toys. The girls aren't big enough to do things on their own, but we took them around and they had a great time playing with all the other kids.
Sutton loved this bounce house. Avery wasn't too sure of it.
Mommy and Sutton going down the Bounce House Slide (so hard climbing up the ladder with a baby)
Avery learning to drive (they got a princess car like this for Christmas!)
Avery loved this bike (the video is even cuter)

The girls had so much fun attending their first friends birthday party. After the party, we went to pizza (because it was near and easy with two sleepy babies) and then home with two exhausted babies. We watched more Making A Murderer after the girls went to bed and crashed early ourselves.

Sunday we got up and saw that no one won PowerBall, so I headed to Stateline and bought some tickets. I thought I would be gone for a half hour including grabbing breakfast to go. Nope. I underestimated the lines. Since Nevada doesn't do the lottery, we have to go to Stateline to get lottery tickets. There are a few near Reno and I chose the one everyone and their moms were at. And I didn't come prepared. No coffee and the wrong shoes. Total fail.

The worst shoes I could have worn out there. I was naive to think I could walk up and grab tickets and go. I thought since it was Sunday and we still had 4 days until the next drawing that I would be ok. I stood outside and in line for an hour and 20 minutes. But I got our tickets. Now here is to hoping we win SOMETHING.

I grabbed breakfast on the way home, watched the Vikings/Seahawks game by the fire and tried to warm up. We spent the day playing with the girls and watching football. I did head out again around 4 pm to grab groceries for the week, but that was it. Lots of cuddles, bath time, play time and naps were had yesterday. And it was the best.

We finished our evening off with another episode of Making A Murderer (only three left to go) in which I barely made it through that episode. I was so tired.

How was your weekend? What did you think of the playoff games?

Friday Five

It's finally Friday! So hard working a full week after two short weeks. Oh wait, that's right, I didn't work a full week because I am headed to the girls 12 month check ups. I can't wait to see how much they have grown since their 9 month appointment.

Today I am linking up with Karli and Liz.
Onto my Friday Five.

One. I was perusing Instagram yesterday and I saw the cutest necklace on my friend Stacey's Instagram. I asked her about it, went to the shop online and fell in love with two necklaces. So friends, help me choose. I love love love macarons. They are my favorite dessert/treat of all time. So much so that it was the favor and treat at my bridal shower. I never pass up a good macaron. So which do you like best?
Left    Right

Two. Speaking the girls 12 month appointments, I need to get their stats for their passports. And speaking of passports, I need to get their paperwork filled out ASAP and taken down to the post office. I can't experience any delays as we leave in 3 months from today. I.CAN'T.WAIT. Take me to Mexico. And my husband needs to renew his because it expires a month or so after we get back and it's frowned upon to leave that little time.

Three. I have a date with the mountain this weekend. It snowed over 21 inches in the last two days and more is on the way, so it should be a pretty amazing day up there. And then we have a friends children's birthday party to attend. It is a bouncy house place full of slides, bounce houses, etc. The girls are a little young, but we were told they would be old enough for the toddler room and to sit on our laps. Plus this is cupcake number two for the girls. Last weekends had mixed feelings by the girls.

Four. I am in search of a new pair of running shoes for the gym. I would love to run outside right now, but it's bitter cold right now (highs in the 20s and 30s) and nobody has time for that with twins. I don't do Nike because I have too high of an arch for them. So send me your suggestions on pairs you love. I want them for running (duh), elliptical, weights and what not.

Five. NFL playoffs are this weekend and I am super excited. Not that I have ANY stake in it. Being a Niners fan this year sucks as we have the worst management and owners. But that is a whole other post in and of itself. But I love NFL football and we are getting down to the best of the best. I am hoping that the Panthers or Cardinals will play anyone BUT the Patriots (#patriotshater #tombradyhater) in the Super Bowl. Which also means that my families annual Super Bowl party is a month away from today. We didn't get to go last year as the girls got out of the NICU a few days before and were super cranky. This year we will be there.
My little ladies last year during Super Bowl (Sutton left, Avery right)

And that's that for my Friday Five. I hope you all have an amazing weekend.

Stitches Update and a Marc Jacobs VoxBox

My stitches are out! I could scream this from the rooftops if I could. It feels SO much better now. The process of taking them out, not so much. It even hurt when they put the cleaning solution on it. And the stitches. Ouch. But they are all gone, and I have an infection as I suspected. So now I am on antibiotics (again) and I am hoping it clears up enough in 3 to 4 days (on meds for 10 days). My shoulder is still sore, but so much better than yesterday. Now onto healing. And lifting weights again.

In other news, I recently received a #voxbox from Influenster and this one was a good one. I received the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara. First, I love make-up and second, I love Marc Jacobs products. But I had never tried their make-up. Heck, I don't think I knew they made make-up. I love their perfumes though.
The brush so you can see the color, shape and size

Once I received my #voxbox, I used it the next morning and I loved the results. Please excuse the awful selfies below.
Before (only part of my eyes on)
After

I love the color (black), how it lengthens my lashes so much (gives me a little feeling of my old extensions), volumizes, separates (thanks to the great brush) and gets in the inner corners of my eyes (again thanks to the brush).

I had bought a mascara a week or so before I received the Marc Jacobs mascara, and I haven't used my other one since. I love this mascara. I can't wait to try out other Marc Jacobs make-up.

* I received the items complimentary from Influenster to test and review. All opinions are my own.

Wednesday Randoms

So I took yesterday off from blogging because I was in meetings ALL DAY LONG. No time for blogging.

But I am back today for some Wednesday randomness because there are just too many thoughts and things I need to get out.

Ready.Set.Go.

One. I am finally getting my AWFUL stitches out today. It feels like they have been in for months. I hate them. The absolute worst. The wound is large, sits right under my bra strap and I believe is infected (red, swollen, tender to the touch and it had an infection in it before). Ugh. We shall find out this afternoon. I am counting down the hours until we figure this out.
Left: 3 days after mole removal (12/26/15)  Right: This morning (1/6/16)

It looks so bad right now. Don't mind the tape marks. My body doesn't do well with bandages on for long periods of time. But look at how red my stitches are. I put on the ointment and bandages everyday. I keep it clean and dry and it still looks like this.

Two. I was beyond tired on Monday, but not tired enough to stop watching the Bachelor. So good. I love all the drama and man is Lace (can't her name just be Lacy/Lacey) a drama queen. Maybe she had too much to drink, but reel in the crazy girl. #fiftyshadesofcrazy

Three. Making a Murderer. So good. We started watching it New Year's weekend and we binge watched another couple episodes since then. I am stunned and blown away by what I have seen so far. I am not even close to finishing it yet (gotta wait until the babies are asleep), so please don't spoil anything.

Four. We are trying to have another day date this weekend. Just me, my husband, Mount Rose (snowboarding) and a bunch of strangers. I am hoping this storm that has supposed to be rolling in for the last few days, dumps some new snow and I can get another day in (Rose got 8 - 11 inches since yesterday!). And another day checked off my breaking even point.

Five. I went to the gym Monday and I am going again today at lunch and I HATE all the newbies there. Yes, I am glad people want to change, get healthy and fit, but I hate that they drop off a few weeks in. Just makes my month of January crazy at the gym. People not sharing equipment, no room and inexperienced people wasting my time. If you get a membership and stay at it, more power to you and welcome!

Six. Girls nights. Another girls night last night and so much fun. We went to Wingo (wine and bingo) again and it was just what I needed. Lots of laughs, dirty categories (for bingo), wine and tacos. I can't wait for next weeks!

Seven. I really need to get moving on getting the girls their passports. I can't keep putting it off because we leave to Mexico in 3 months and 2 days. The countdown is on. I guess I should print up what I need and get moving (today) and stop procrastinating.

And that's about it for my word vomit.

New Years Weekending

This weekend flew by in an instant. We were so busy prepping for the girls first birthday party that I don't think I did much else than that. But it was so worth it in the end. The girls first birthday party was a success. I have to go through our camera before I can make a post dedicated to their party.

Thursday we worked until 2 pm. We then took the babies to Total Wine to get some liquor/wine/beer for the party (for us, not them). It was pretty chilly that day, so we snuggled up to the fire and hung out. And I spent hours putting together the girls' kitchen they got from their aunt Ashley for Christmas. They LOVE the kitchen. They have spent everyday pulling out all the items, pulling themselves up and play cooking. So adorable.

I finished putting together the kitchen while bathing the girls and cooking dinner. It was an exhaustive evening. But we drank champagne by the fire and watched the ball drop at midnight (NYC time). We went to bed around 10:30.

Friday we had off and it was spent going to brunch, hanging out with the girls, a quick grocery shopping trip and dinner at my in-laws. We didn't get to spend Christmas with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. They were in Kansas City visiting his family. So we had our Christmas Friday evening. The girls opened up gifts from their aunt and uncle, we had a tasty dinner and watched some football.
Prior to breakfast
 Avery and her uncle
Sutton and her aunt

Saturday we had an early breakfast, so I could head off and finish all the prep work for the girls birthday. I went to Costco gas, Costco, Hobby Lobby, Target, Starbucks and then to my sisters house. We baked and frosted cupcakes at her house since her oven is so much better than mine (Brand New!). Then I had to hit up the grocery store for the weekly groceries and food for the party. I got home around 5:30 after leaving around 11 am. But I got it all done!!!
Playing with their kitchen and accessories
They fight over this spoon (came in the kitchen set)

While I was away, the girls were playing with their kitchen, hanging with their dad and they even went to a Nevada Wolf Pack basketball game with their dad, grandparents and aunt and uncle. And the Pack won!!

We were exhausted (again), so we ordered pizza after the girls went to bed and watched the Oregon vs. TCU game. Such an amazing comeback. So glad we caught the game from the 4th quarter on.We also jumped on the Making A Murderer bandwagon. We are two episodes in and I am so intrigued. So good. But makes me so mad. Have you seen it? What do you think so far? Please don't spoil anything. I won't even google anything on it because I want to watch it ALL spoilerish free.

Sunday we were up bright and early again to grab coffee and pastries to go and come home to party prep. The girls party was a huge success and they were so spoiled. They had the best time and the cake smash was a success. I can't wait to share their party with you. Hopefully later this week.
Sneak peak of the girls first birthday (Avery with her cousin Paris)

I hope you had a good weekend. And I hope this next weekend is less chaotic, but just as much fun.

Happy New Year

I just wanted to stop in and say...

I am taking the day off to party prep and hang out with my lady babies!
