Show Me Your Books - February

This month was another bad month of reading. I read one full book which I really enjoyed and then the other book, I have been reading for the last month and I am only 20% in. It is not that it isn't a good book, it is just that with surgery and my lack of wanting to read, I haven't finished it. Luckily, no one else is wanting to read this book right now, so I can keep renewing it. But I have had to push out the holds on several other books.

Anyways, here is what I read this month and also the current book that I am reading.

The Wife Stalker - Liv Constantine

The Wife Stalker - Liv Constantine

I enjoyed this book more than the reviewers on Amazon did. It gets 4 starts on Amazon and I would give it 4 1/2 stars. And this is because I did not see the end coming.

The book is about Joanna and and Leo and their life together. Leo fell into a depression and Joanna suggests that Leo, a lawyer, goes back to the retreat he is checking out for a case he is working on. She suggests that he take some classes there to help him get back to his normal self. Leo does take her advice, but he meets Piper there. Piper owns the retreat and starts a romance with her.

Joanna is devastated, and pushed out of Leo's life. But he assures her that she will still be a part of the children's lives. And then there is a big twist at the end that I did not guess. And that is what makes a really good book for me.

I definitely recommend this book.

Here is Amazon's synopsis:

Breezing into the upscale seaside paradise of Westport, Connecticut, gorgeous thirtysomething Piper Reynard sets down roots, opening a rehab and wellness space and joining a local yacht club. When she meets Leo Drakos, a handsome, successful lawyer, the wedding ring on his finger is the only thing she doesn’t like about him. Yet as Piper well knows, no marriage is permanent.

Meanwhile, Joanna has been waiting patiently for Leo, the charismatic man she fell in love with all those years ago, to re-emerge from the severe depression that has engulfed him. Though she’s thankful when Leo returns to his charming, energetic self, paying attention again to Evie and Stelli, the children they both love beyond measure, Joanna is shocked to discover that it’s not her loving support that’s sparked his renewed happiness—it’s something else.

Piper. Leo has fallen head over heels for the flaky, New Age-y newcomer, and unrepentant and resolute, he’s more than willing to leave Joanna behind, along with everything they’ve built. Of course, he assures her, she can still see the children.

Joanna is devastated—and determined to find something, anything, to use against this woman who has stolen her life and her true love. As she digs deeper into Piper’s past, Joanna begins to unearth disturbing secrets . . . but when she confides to her therapist that she fears for the lives of her ex-husband and children, her concerns are dismissed as paranoia. Can she find the proof she needs in time to save them?

And the book I am reading right now is: One Little Secret by Cate Holahan.

  9. I'll have to put this one on my list! I just finished "Love the One You're With" (Emily Giffin) after months of it on my nightstand. It was good. I love all the Giffin books. I also listened to 3 audiobooks (Birdbox was one of them and that really kept my attention). I'm trying to do better on the reading, but I go through periods of not wanting to read anything.

    1. I think I read that one a long time ago. I loved Emily Giffin books. I am the same way with reading. Some months it is 5 books and others barely one.

  10. Those sound like good books! I had to take a little break from thrillers ( I was getting too anxious) but when I do, I may put these on my list.

    1. I totally understand. If I get that way, I read more of the suspense or Colleen Hoover books.
