An Update

I had planned travel posts on traveling to Reno, but I just don't feel like now is the time to put those out here since we really aren't supposed to travel right now. And speaking of travel, we are supposed to go to Mexico next week. I am not sure that will happen. We have fears of being quarantined over there or them shutting down the border and it taking us hours upon hours just to get home. So for right now, we are just waiting things out. Things could get better or they could get worse and we don't have to make any changes until this weekend. Plus I think I would rather be in the warmth and out of the cold with the higher risk of getting this virus.

I am at work today. They are trying to figure out what to do. Our governor has closed all school until April 6th and suggested that our state offices be closed, but it is up to our leaders to decide if we are essential or not. So I am here, but Rory is home because the girls school is closed. We are hoping they make a decision soon on what we are doing.

I traveled all last week and other than people using their Clorox wipes on the plane and some wearing masks, I feel like things have been pretty much the same. The restaurants were still full. The airports were booming and people were still out and about.

I know that in order to curb this, we all need to social distance and quarantine, but if we are not all doing it, then it won't ever go away. I am just confused on the whole situation and don't know what to think. I do know that I was up half of the night thinking about what our future looks like and basically worrying about things that are out of my control right now.

Anyways, I am not sure how much I will blog right now as I just don't know what to say. I feel weird putting out my favorites when things are not great out there. Plus with the uncertainty of what is going to happen with everyone, their incomes, health, etc., I just don't know how much I will post right now. Are you continuing to post? Should we go about everything normally?

  1. I plan to post some. All of this gives me anxiety and there is so much uncertainty. But also, there is SO MUCH on social media and news regarding all the chaos that I long for just some type of normalcy. So I plan to do mostly my normal posts just to have some distraction.

    1. I do want some normalcy too. I guess I will write some posts, but not go too crazy. I do want to read things other than the news right now.

  2. The cases are growing exponentially here and I am still at work. So annoying, I am not essential! This is all so surreal. Stay well!

    1. I am not essential either. We should get to work from home or just stay home. This is way too surreal. I hope you stay well too.

  3. I know how you feel, Danielle, but I'd say that (if you can), keep posting! Spread positivity. While stuff isn't status quo by any means, a sense of normalcy is good. I'm trying to spin things. Make things more manageable. It's absolute chaos and pandemonium here in WA right now, but we're just trying to stay sane. I work in travel, and it's a bad industry to be in. Do you have travel protection for your trip to Mexico? Most airlines are offering vouchers to change flights now due to the national emergency, as are most resorts/homestays/villas, and more.

    1. I do agree with that. We do need normalcy for sure. I hate reading the news right now because it stresses me out and I worry way too much. I do have travel protection and my family and I just decided to postpone it until end of April, beginning of May. That way we can go, still look forward to it, but stay safe. Thank you for the info on the vouchers.

  4. This is absolute craziness, isn't it? Like others have said, it all just feels surreal. I'm with you -- I haven't posted in weeks partly due to the fact that I'm just not sure what to post about. I have so many thoughts and questions about this whole thing, and yet I feel like everyone is drowning in coronavirus stuff. Hang in there! <3

  5. I'm thinking distractions and favorites you can order from home would be wonderful! I definitely feel you in feeling confused and not knowing what is going on or what will come next. This is all pretty awful for anxiety!

  6. I'm kinda the same way right now... not sure that planner posts are what anyone cares about - but I have one posted for tomorrow anyways - I think some normalcy is a good thing, but I get the struggle ... so just go with your gut. Some days, you just may not have the energy to post anything. I'm with you on the night time worrying.
Everyone is shutting down but I am not able to so I'll still be coming into work ... which is frustrating... but while they want the world to stop, it can't... so we just get through this season right now.

  7. I'm planning on posting business as usual, partly because I already have a bunch of posts ready to go since we were supposed to leave for Disney, and partly because I think everyone is looking for a distraction right now since literally every single thing on social media is about the virus. I'm sorry that you and Rory have a hard decision to make about travel right now. B and I were in the same boat last week with Disney and I was truly relieved (although devastated) that Disney decided to close so we didn't have to make the decision. At this point, we would have definitely canceled our trip. Everything is shutting down, states are starting to put curfews into effect, and some are saying that nonessential air travel may be halted very soon. It's just not worth the risk to us!

  8. I know what you mean.. our schools have shut down.. everyone is working form home.. we are doing remote learning in our schools so I have suddenly become a home schooler..
We too have a vacation coming up in a few weeks but don't know what to do about anything right now.. just trying to take it one day at a time.

  9. I'm going to continue posting and think you should too if you feel like it. Coronavirus is definitely something to stay focused on but it shouldn't be all of our attention.
