Our wedding day was the best day of my life by FAR. I had been dreaming about this day since I was a little girl, but the details of the day changed as I grew older. I went from wanting a fairytale princess wedding with as many sparkles and pink I could ever imagine to a beach wedding with a casual feel to my actual REAL wedding day. I think the only thing that stayed the same throughout the years was the sparkle.
As you can tell from my blog title, I love sparkles. I wanted glitter, diamonds and crystals everywhere, but my husband told me to tone it down just a bit.
Did I let my husband help plan our wedding? In sorts. Did he want to help? Maybe on a few key items. Mainly cake, colors, food, drinks and vendors.
I guess I should back track a bit to the planning. We got engaged in March 2013 and got married in August 2013. Were we crazy to plan a wedding in six months time? Maybe, but several friends recommended it. Plus I couldn't wait to marry R and I was able to get most of the vendors I wanted and plan it according to our style and theme.
Colors: Navy and gray/silver with pops of pink. R and I are very big University of Nevada Wolf Pack fans. R is a diehard fan; he bleeds silver and blue, so this was a pretty easy choice for us. And I had to have my bit of pink without overwhelming it.
Theme: Romance...lace, romantic feels, wine and sparkle.
Inspiration: Pinterest (gasp, I know), movies, other people's weddings, etc.
DIY: I made my table numbers (painted wine bottles with lace and glitter), bride and groom signs, menu chalkboard, seating chart, cake topper (my favorite project), bridesmaids' gifts and memory photo table.
Venue: Genoa Lakes Golf Club and Resort
Ceremony: Customized by R and I. And we wrote our own vows.
Favorite Memories: Getting married to the love of my life was the best part of my wedding day, but there are many more moments that also made our day perfect. I hold my father-daughter dance dear to my heart. I have always dreamed about my dad walking me down the aisle and our dance together. We danced to “Daughter” by Loudon Wainwright III. I still get teary eyed when remembering this part of my day. My dad and I danced and laughed our way through our song. Just perfect.
I have been too my fair share of weddings, and I have never seen that many people dance and dance for that long. It was priceless seeing my father-in-law dancing to 2 Chainz, and watching my husband and his childhood friends break dancing.
Hearing my husband’s vows was very special to me. I still look at his vows and watch the videos of our vows weekly. What can I say, I am a love sap.
But enough talking, I will let some of our photos do the rest of the talking.
