Nordstrom Sale Hits and Misses

So I know that the Nordstrom sale is over, but I didn't get most of my items until really late. I ordered everything (minus one item) on the August 13th and things took forever to come in. I ordered one item on the 16th and it was the first to arrive. Go figure. Anyways, I thought I would share what I ordered, what I kept, what I returned and where you can find these items or similar items (and hopefully on sale).

So if you remember, here is my wish list. I circled the items that I was able to order.

And now for the try on. Please don't judge my awful selfies. I am not an OOTD picture taker and I need to up my game when it comes to try on pictures.

First up, the Dreamers by Debut High/Low Sweater. This sweater was really soft and I liked the high/low until I tried it on. From the front it seems fine, but from the side you can see that the slits go up pretty high. If I even lifted my arms a bit, you can see my stomach. That means I wouldn't be able to wear this to work and if I did, it would have to be with a high rise pants. I also got a similar sweater to this during a J Crew clearance sale (which I kept), so this one went back. RETURNED

Next up, CeCe Puff Sleeve Crepe Top. I had been so excited to get this item and then the pink was sold out by the time I had a chance to get it. So I settled for the green which is a really pretty color. I liked the length of this shirt, the feel, but I couldn't get the button buttoned up in the back and the sleeves were larger than I am used to. Plus since I won't be going back to work until January, I sent this one back. But it was a tough decision. RETURNED

Next up, the Leith Cozy Long Cardigan. I have this cardigan in black and I LOVE it. I wore it a ton last year and so I knew I had to have another. This time I got the green one and it is soooo soft. I definitely will be wearing this one a lot. KEPT

Next up, the Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Cardigan. This item I didn't even have on my wish list. I have seen the hype over it for years and I thought I would order it and try it out. This is the item that I ordered last and was first to arrive. From the moment I took it out of the box, I knew this lived up to the hype. It is soft, comfy, cozy and perfect for working from home. I got the charcoal color and I love it. I don't want to take it off. KEPT

Next up, the Blondo Sydney Waterproof Bootie. I loved these from the moment I took them out of the box. I tried them on and was like I am keeping these. They have a comfy toe box, are waterproof and suede. But I had tried them without socks and then remembered to try them on with socks. That is when I knew they had to go back. They were perfect in the length of the shoe, but once I added socks, they were tight in the width of the shoe and I was wear little socks, no show socks. So sadly, these went back. I just wish they were a little wider. RETURNED

Lastly, I bought the Kate Spade New York Glitter Studs. I didn't take a picture with them on, but I wore them the day I got them. They are the perfect size. I had been wanting them for years and I finally grabbed them. Well worth the $15. KEPT

As you can see, I only kept 3 things out of the six items I bought. Now I know things went back up in price, but I have bought the Leith cardigan at full price before and it was worth it. I heard that very soon Nordstrom Rack would have the Barefoot Dreams cardigans there. Also, you can sign up on their website and they will give you a coupon there. And HSN also does sales on the Barefoot Dreams cardigan all the time. So keep an eye out and sign up for their emails.

I know the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is controversial in that bloggers tend to over hype and over sale this sale. In year's past, I have shopped this sale. BUT I do so with regards to my own budget. Don't get me wrong, I saw many pieces in this year's preview that I would love to add to my wardrobe, but I am not paying $500 for one item. Nope. Stick within your budget and don't buy into everything every blogger says YOU.JUST.HAVE.TO.HAVE.

But I did put together my wish list. I know I won't order everything I have on here, but I know I will order some of it and I am sure I will return some of it as well. That is exactly what happened last year.

I plan to do one post (this post) where I show you what I want and then another that shows what I purchased, what it looks like on me and if I am keeping or returning. That is it for me and this sale.

My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Wish List

Kork-Ease Kit Chelsea Booties I need some new brown booties since the heel of mine is loopsided now. I have my eye on these even though they are pricey. But I am willing to pay good money for shoes that will last for a long time.

Dreamers by Debut High/Low Sweater Doesn't this sweater look so cozy? I love how it has a high/low fit to it.

Kate Spade New York Glitter Studs These have been on my wish list for years and I never bought them. But this year is the year. You can't beat the price tag of $15.90.

J Crew Sweater Bomber Jacket Isn't this jacket pretty? I have a thing for bomber jackets. And this one being a sweater material is calling my name. J Crew makes amazing jackets, so I will definitely be buying this and hoping it works for me.

Commando Butter T-Shirt I love the idea of a butter tee, but I am not sure $38 is worth it. Has anyone tried these tees?

Madewell Polka Dot Daylight Top This top is cute and would be perfect for work. But are we ever going back into the office setting?

Blondo Sydney Waterproof Bootie I also want another pair of black booties. And I love that they are waterproof.

Tory Burch Circle Logo Earrings I love most things Tory Burch and these earrings are calling my name.

CeCe Puff Sleeve Crepe Top This is another top that I want for work, but it also works for date nights and girls nights. I like that the sleeves aren't overly puffed and subtle.

Caslon Dolman Thermal I love thermals and this would be perfect for the Fall and Winter.

Honeydew All American Shortie PJs I added these to my birthday list and if I don't get them for my birthday, I am grabbing myself a pair of these.

Caslon Sweater Hoodie This has comfort written all over it. I love the combo of it being a sweater and a hoodie. 

Leith Cozy Long Cardigan I have this cardigan and I LOVE it. I wear it all Fall/Winter/Spring and I will be getting myself this Olive color next.

Zella Live In High Waist Leggings I have heard so much about these leggings, but I have never tried a pair. I might buy one to see if they live up to the hype and are better than my 90 degrees leggings or my Lululemon Align leggings.

Zella Live In Jogger Joggers are my go to travel pant, the best lounge wear and sometimes even pajama pants. I can see myself wearing these a lot.

Tory Burch Carson Crossbody Bag How pretty is this bag? I love my current Tory Burch bag, and would love to add this one to my collection.

What I Thought of My Nordstrom Purchases

I got a few of my packages in from the Nordstrom sale and I thought I would share my thoughts with you all. I even included selfies. Be kind. I am in no way a fashion blogger, nor do I know how to take selfies.

I got this and I love it. It fits well, will be perfect for the Fall and Winter and was soft.

Sam Edelman Riza Flats - Normally $109.95, Sale $69.90 RETURNED

I didn't take a picture of these and I don't know why not. I took them out of the box and the front of both shoes as smashed a bit and had indentions in them. I am sure they would come out as I let them air out, but when I put them on, it looked like I was wearing witch shoes. Maybe because I wear a size 8 in them, but they didn't flatter my foot. If they were rounded toes, I am sure I would have loved them more. I did like the wavy sides of them.

Charlotte Tilbury Smoky Eye Palette - $55 KEPT

I love everything from Charlotte Tilbury that I have tried so far. I opened this right up, saw the colors in person and fell in love. I even used it on Saturday morning. Totally worth it and I feel like I will use all of the colors which rarely happens.

BP. Long Leopard Cardigan - Sale $45.90 RETURNED

So this cardigan was hyped up by all the bloggers. I got it, pulled it out of the packaging and was a little disappointed in the quality of the cardigan. It felt like it would pill after one wash. It was soft and I liked that, but I just couldn't keep it for $45.90.

Love By Design Chenille Sweater - Normally $39, Sale $25.90 RETURNED

When I was ordering this shirt, I noticed it said it was a juniors size, but had sizing for women, so I ordered what I would need in the women's, size medium. Well I got this sweater and it was incredibly soft. I put it on and my girls loved it, but I did not. It is more of a crop top on me, so sadly it has to go back. If you are 5'3" or shorter, this sweater is perfect for you.

Something Navy Easy Tee - Sale $15.90 KEPT

This isn't one that I put on my original post, but I did buy this shirt after seeing some great reviews from other bloggers. I am not a Something Navy fan, but decided to give this shirt a try and if I didn't like it, I could return it. Well, I actually like it. It is a great price, it has some stretchiness to it and has a higher neck. I got it in the black.

I want to start this post off by saying please don't order from ANY sale if you don't have the money, you don't need anything or if you have to get a credit card just to order from the sale. I feel like so many bloggers are just shilling and posting affiliate link after affiliate link. I am only posting what I bought to show my style, what I needed in my closet and for recommendations. I do look at a lot of bloggers posts and see what would actually fit my style before ordering. Plus Nordstrom has a free shipping and free returns, so I figured whatever I didn't LOVE would go back.

I love Charlotte Tilbury and I have been looking at eye shadow palettes for awhile now, but never bought one. Then I saw this one when browsing the sale and I love the colors and grabbed it. I hope they are just as beautiful in person.
