Fall/Winter Boots and Booties

I think Fall is one of my favorite seasons to dress for. I usually get a couple new cardigans (posted that fun collection recently), a new jacket (also posted that collection) and a pair or two of booties/boots. And since I have fun shopping around for myself, I thought I would share what I found and what I almost purchased and what I did purchase.

The only boot I own on this list is the LL Bean duck boot and I love them. They are my favorite boot for the Fall, Winter and Spring. These ones have the shearling in them which makes them warmer. I got a size 8 in them and I usually wear a 8 1/2 (now). 

I am a big Vince Camuto and Sam Edelman fan and I own a lot of shoes from both of them. So those are always winners. Steve Madden makes great shoes and any of those booties would be very cute. 

I have Hunter boots that are tall and I love them, but I want these shorter ones. You can't have too many boots and booties.

Fall Favorites: Fashion

It's time for another link up with Emily for Fall Favorites and this one is all about Fashion. I pretty much post a lot of what I have been wearing or wanting on Friday, but I do have staples that I wear and love for Fall and Winter.

I also posted about some Fall Sweatshirts that I really want and you can find that here.

First up, a long cardigan. I live in cardigans during the Fall and Winter since I get cold all the time. I have this Leith Cardigan in black and green. I got both of them during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, but they are worth the price even when they are full price.

I also bought the notorious Barefoot Dreams Cardigan that everyone raves about. And they are right! It is sooo comfy, cozy and perfect for people like me who get cold all the time. I will be wearing this daily especially while working from home.

I will also be living in my 90 Degrees by Reflex Leggings. I am all about these leggings. Not only are they priced amazing at $28, but they suck you in, don't stretch out, are not see through and are comfy. The only drawback is they attract dog hair. But I just use a lint roller if I am leaving the house.

My other favorite leggings are the Lululemon Align 28 inch Legging. These are probably the best and my most favorite legging. They are comfy, buttery, suck you in, are long enough, are not see through, and they hold up for wash after wash. The only drawback...price. But if you invest in one or two pairs, you won't regret it.

Fall Cozy Dresses are also on my list. I try to buy a dress or two each Fall that I can wear to work or on the weekends and last year I got this dress. It isn't available, but it fits my MO for what I like. Long sleeves, comfy, midi length and can be layered with a cardigan (ie the Leith black cardigan above). Sweater dresses are a Fall favorite of mine...even in quarantine.

Next you need a Fall bootie that you can wear everyday and I am still trying to find mine. I have some that I wear out (a pair of Sam Edelman booties that have a 3 inch heel with pointy toes), but I want a pair that are one inch or shorter heel, ankle length and comfy for long walks or travel (if I ever get to travel again).

Comfy tees is my final Fall staple. I wear soft tees under all of my cardigans and all Summer. I am always searching for the best one. So far, my favorite is Rag and Bone, but I only buy them on mega sale at the outlet stores. I refuse to pay $90 plus for a tee. But I bought a few Abercrombie soft AF tees when I went into a store and they are pretty amazing. They are on sale for $15 right now and possibly another 15% off.

Fall Favorites - Fall Decorating

So I am a little behind when it comes to decorating for Fall. I need to hit up Hobby Lobby, Target and a few other places. I usually go to Pier 1 Imports as well, but ours is closing or it already closed. 

I have stuff packed away in the garage that will come out soon, but I love buying a few pumpkins and things to add to my collection each year.

And that is why I have linked up with Emily again for Fall Favorites - Fall Decorating.

I am all about the pumpkins. I buy lots of pumpkin pieces each year and use that as my main decor in our house. But I do put a few yard things up and something in the girls rooms.

Below are some of my favorite Fall decor.

I got these last year and I want to add more to my collection. They are pretty, soft and the perfect touch to your Fall decor.

I have this pumpkin and about 5 others in different sizes and colors. They are so cute and perfect for when you have dogs that like to grab things off tables.

This is not the exact scarecrow that I have in my yard, but it is similar. I got mine from Hobby Lobby about 4 years ago.

I buy these basically every year and put them around the house in areas that don't need much decor or don't have much room.

Fall Favorites Link Up - Fall Scents

Emily is hosting a Fall Favorites Link Up this month and the first topic is Fall Scents. I love Fall candles and always stock up at Bath and Body Works. I also love the scents of Fall foods like apple pies, pumpkin pies, pumpkin cookies, apple cider, roasted marshmallows, etc. Every year we go to Apple Hill and you best bet that I get to take in ALL the Fall scents and love every minute of it.

But I thought I would share some of my favorite Fall candles and soaps that I buy on repeat each Fall.

What are your favorite Fall scents?

Apple Hill Weekend

I haven't done a weekend update in a long time, but with one of our favorite Fall weekends, I had to recap. Last weekend, we went to Apple Hill and Ferrari Farms Pumpkin Patch. We crossed off at least two big Fall bucket list items.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early and headed up to Truckee for breakfast at Marty's Cafe. We love this place. You want to make sure you get there right when they open up at 8 am to get a seat. After breakfast, we headed to Apple Hill.

Our first stop was Lava Cap Winery. We have never been there before, but it had amazing reviews on Yelp. We did a wine tasting while the girls hung out on the deck with some coloring books.

 You can taste as many as you want for $5, or free with the purchase of one bottle.

After enjoying some tasting and buying a few bottles, we headed to the next stop, Abel's Apple Acres. This apple orchard is geared towards kids. They had all sorts of picture displays, a goodie store, farm animals, bounce houses, sand candle making, crafts and more.

After hanging out for awhile, we headed over to Boa Vista Orchards where the girls got their faces painted, we walked around the crafts, bought a bunch of goodies and had fantastic people watching.

We were all starting to get hungry, so we headed over to the Jack Russell Brewery for a beer and some lunch!

After lunch, we headed over to Bodhaine Ranch for some pie. We had never been here before, but we heard they have amazing pies. We got a frozen pie and a caramel apple bar to go. While Rory was paying, I took the girls to the bathroom. It was a handicap bathroom, so we asked if the girls could use it since they refuse to use a porta-potty. The owner dropped many f-bombs at the employee who asked him for us and we could hear it all. I wasn't happy to say the least. I think their pies are good, but the owner needs to learn some manners. Not sure if we will be back or not.

Next, we hit up Apple Ridge Farms. We walked through their crafts, their Christmas house, the food, and over to the kids area. This is where the girls started melting down, so we decided it was time to head back so they could finally nap in the car.

We stopped at our favorite pizza spot in Lake Tahoe and watched the Georgia game. Then we headed home.

Sunday, my in-laws asked if we were going to go to the same pumpkin patch as last year and we realized that Sunday was the only day we could go this month before Halloween. So we made plans to head over around 11 am. We searched for pumpkins, went on two hay rides, the girls jumped in the huge pumpkin bounce house, they had lunch and ice cream and went to the petting zoo. We spent just over 2 hours there and the girls had a blast!

 We got two pumpkins to carve as a family, two for the girls as decorations and then a monster pumpkin for decoration outside!

We headed home and put the girls down for a nap. Then we did the usual Sunday things. We cleaned, cooked dinner, went grocery shopping, hit up Costco and prepped for the week ahead.

Guest Post - Five Favorite Things About Fall

Hi all! I have Emily from Three Boys and a Girl guest posting for me today. Emily and I "met" through blogging and I have been so honored to help her through her first year blogging. Emily and I have connected over clothes, blogging, our children, all of her monogrammed goodies and life. I really hope to travel back East and meet Emily one day. Emily has so many amazing clothes and shops at Nordstrom often and I totally envy her buys.

I am so excited to be guest posting for Danielle today! When I started my blog back in January Danielle was one of my first blogger friends. Since then she has become a great friend. She has always been willing to help me with any blogger questions I have and I've loved bouncing ideas off of her. Watching her sweet girls grow and change over the past several months has been so fun too! So when she was looking for some guest posters while she is traveling I knew I wanted to do it!

Since fall is upon us, and everyone seems to have it on the brain I thought I would share my top five favorite things about fall!

ONE | Fashion
Who doesn't love the sweaters, the boots and the coziness of fall clothes. I am sharing some of my favorite finds lately.

TWO | Food 

Goodness who doesn't love to eat? Fall foods seriously may be my favorite. Maybe its because so many things can be made in the crockpot {who doesn't love that}. I love soups, chilis and stews. Theres nothing better than getting that going on a chilly day and enjoying some football while eating chili. The toppings are so yummy and adding corn bread makes it even better.

THREE | Football

There is something about the start of football that signals fall. Spending Saturdays at the stadium tailgating, or watching on the back porch at home while the kids play in the backyard. I just adore days like that and can't wait to cheer on our team {NC State Wolfpack} during many games in the coming months! 

FOUR | Weather 

Ok seriously, fall weather is my absolute FAVORITE! I adore being able to throw on some leggings, my boots and a sweater. I hate hate hate being hot, so summertime is never my favorite for that reason. I love winter but it can get super cold and who likes that. But fall, fall is amazing. You can wear all the cozy things you want and still not get too hot or too cold. It's the absolute perfect scenario in my book! 

FIVE | Birthdays and celebrations

I can't talk about my favorite things about fall without talking about birthdays. In my family we have a lot. October starts with mine {I'll be 31!} and we end the month with Grahams, who will be turning O N E!! The we start November celebrating Jack who turns three!! In between the two we will celebrate Halloween as well and lets not forget about Thanksgiving to round out the fall season. So there are so many fun things to celebrate over the next few months!

These two have birthdays within 8 days of each other. We will be celebrating for a solid two weeks!

So there you go. My top five favorite things about fall! I could also include the decor, because right now my house looks like fall exploded. I love it, it feels cozier, my house smells amazing and it overall puts me in a better mood as soon as I walk in the door.
