Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Review

I finally got my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale items in and tried them on. Can I just say, there is nothing like trying on clothes post-partum or post-hysterectomy to dampen your confidence? I am dying to work out more than just walk, but my healing is slow go. Also, it is taking me awhile to get used to my body changes since surgery. I know I will be back at it and feeling better about myself, but right now, I just feel blah in my clothes. Nothing fits properly and I have no idea how I will go back into the office next week when my slacks don't fit.

Anyways, I got off on a tangent. Since I love seeing if people really keep what they purchase or how things really fit, I figured I would share my items that I purchased. And you all can help me chose if I keep or return. 

I ordered my husband a Travis Mathew Polo and Golf Slacks and he has yet to try them on. Ugh. But when the Polo came in, I saw it and said I sure hope it fits because I love the way it looks.

Wow I angled my mirror at a very unflattering angle. Ha.

Ok, first impressions? The skirt is heavier which is great for Fall and Winter. It isn't so great when you try it on when it is 100 degrees outside. Ha. But I thought it felt like a good quality skirt. It has a lot of stretch to it, so it is forgiving. I read the sizing chart and sized up to a 6. It fit really well even with my swollen stomach area.

The sweater was a last minute add because I saw it on a blogger/influencer friend and really liked it. I didn't like when they turned it around to have the twist in the front, but I thought it was cute to go with this skirt, a pair of black jeans or my Spanx leggings. I bought it in a size small and it is still a bit oversized on me. It is very soft and comfy, but not work appropriate.

The shoes look beautiful. The clasp is high quality and they reminded me of a pair of booties that I had in the past with a similar swoop across the top of the foot. They have a 4 inch heel which I feel like is too much for me. I wore them the house and my feet just are not used to wearing heels. I bought these in hopes I could wear them to the wedding we have in August, but 4 inches is a lot to dance in for hours. But they are very cute and actually comfy.

So do I keep any of the three?

Please excuse my lack of a good pedicure. I have gel on some toes and not on others. Definitely not a foot model right now.

Here is the same skirt and shoes but paired with the camisole. Now in my wish list, I wanted the green color, but they sold out of it before I had access. So I grabbed the black on. I got it in a size small. When I took it out of the package, it seemed flowy and of a decent material. I tried it on and I think I could have gotten an xs. It is a little wide under my arms, but not overly sized. I had to pull it out a lot from this skirt, so it wouldn't show the bunched up part. But overall, I liked the look of this outfit together. I usually get my camis from J Crew (on sale), so I am not sure if this one beats J Crew or not.

Do I keep any of these?

I was so excited to get this skirt. I love BB Dakota items and loved that it was a ribbed skirt. I was surprised when I took it out of the package and noticed all the ruching. There is ruching by the front slit and the back slit. But I thought, why not try it on and see. I got it in a medium because I was in between sizes. I think I should have gotten a small after trying it on. I tucked the cami into it in the front and I think I should have done that in the back. But again, you can only tuck it so far otherwise it would show that on the skirt.

The skirt is a great weight and made my butt look great. So what do you guys think? Do I keep or return?

So here is the BB Dakota skirt with the twist back sweater and the heels. I think this sweater looks better with this skirt than the cami does. Just wanted to show you the options and how it can look with different outfits.

And lastly, here is a closer view of the shoes. I wanted to show off the heel a bit because it I rectangle heel which was fun and interesting to me. I ordered the shoes in an 8 1/2.

So what do you all think? Should I keep anything?

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Tried and True Favorites

Since the Nordstrom sale is starting soon (July 9th for me), I thought I would also share some items that I have purchased in the past. Some I purchased through Nordstrom, but when you can get a good deal on them, you don't pass it up. 

So here are some of my tried and true/favorites that I definitely recommend. 

Barefoot Dream Circle Cardigan

I bought this cardigan in 2020. With everyone being home all the time, I wanted a cozy soft cardigan to wear around the house when I wasn't wearing my robe. I still wear this around the house all the time. I got it in a dark gray which isn't available this year, but you can't go wrong with any color. I got a size small in it.

BlankNYC Moto Jacket

I have a slightly different jacket than this as mine was from several years ago. I still wear this all the time. I wore it to the rodeo a few weeks back since it got colder in the evening. Mine also comes with a hood that you can unsnap (which is how I often wear it). I get so many compliments on my jacket and love it so much. Plus the zippers are heavy duty and well made. I got a small in this as well.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Kit

I have used this kit so many times in the past, but now that I have extensions, it is time to purchase it again. This is incredibly hydrating. I use the mask in the shower, the primer before blow drying my hair.

Halogen Open Front Pocket Cardigan

I have this cardigan in green. I got it in 2020 and wear it all the time in Fall. I got it in a small. It is very soft and has held up very well after many washes.

Hanky Panky Underwear

I always stock up on this brand of underwear each Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I like the way it fits, it washes well and are very comfy.

Kate Spade Mini Confetti Studs

These studs are amazing. They are so cute and I had wanted them for years, but never scored them in the anniversary sale (until a few years ago). These make an amazing gift and are very loved in my life.

Longchamp Le Pliage Tote

I did not get my Longchamp tote from the Nordstrom sale as I got mine in Paris at the Longchamp store. I LOVE this thing. I take it on all of my work trips since I also carry a large Michael Kors tote. This way when I got out in the evenings or during lunch, I have another purse. This folds up so small and is very practical. It also repels water and anything else you may spill on it. I have it in black.

Madewell Transport Tote

I got this tote for a birthday gift a few years ago. I have since bought a few new straps from Madewell and love it. It is perfect for a day out, travel and even as a tote for your kids things.

Olaplex Bond Maintenance Kit

While I haven't purchased this kit, I have purchased all three items separately.  But you get this kit for $99 when it is a value of $126. This is what I have been using for the past couple months on my hair and I LOVE it.

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings

I got these leggings about 6 years ago or so. I wear them very often. Mostly on girls nights or date nights, but they make me feel like a million bucks. They suck everything in, wash very well and go with everything. You can dress them up or down. I wear a size small. I am 5'9" and they even fit my tall frame.

Ugg Slippers

These slippers are my favorite. I have had them in so many colors and continue to get them when mine wear out. Right now I have the light gray pair, but I really like this pink pair. I sized up to a 9 in them for maximum comfort.

I have more favorites from Nordstrom, but none of them are featured this year (like Tory Burch items), so I just shared what is available and what I really do love and use all the time.

And then blog reading. I didn't get to read as many posts as I wanted, but I still tried to read 3 per person and catch up on their lives a bit. So thank you so much!

The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is coming up. For a few it starts on Wednesday. For me, it starts on Saturday.

I know many hate this sale, but I really enjoy it. I always pick up some of my favorites like hair care, underwear and t-shirt basics. But then I throw in many other items, and see what I like, dislike and can't live without. Today I am sharing my wish list items. I went through all 55 pages of women's items just for this post. On Wednesday, I will share my tried and true favorites.

1.State Camisole

This cami is perfect for date night or to wear under a blazer at work. I love this green color.

Barefoot Dreams Socks

Who doesn't love cozy socks? I usually buy a pair or two during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.

BB Dakota Midi Skirt

This skirt is high up on my list. I love that it is high waisted, has a small slit and can be dressed up with a blouse or dressed down with a knotted shirt. Plus I love BB Dakota items so much.

Avec Les Filles Longline Coat

This is on quite a few people's lists, so I am sure it will sell out before I can get it. But I really love the look of it and really want it for the Fall and Winter season.

Halogen Faux Leather Midi Skirt

This is another item I will order if I get the chance. I love the idea of this for date night. I am really into faux leather right now (I really want a pair of faux leather shorts) .

Michael Kors Cleo Slingbacks

I really need a new pair of black heels (for a wedding I am going to) and these are so cute and perfect for it.

On Cloudflow Running Shoes

Rory said his On shoes are his favorite and now I want some for working out...for when I can start working out again. I love the colors of these and they are at a great price!

Faherty Vista Reversible Terry Hoodie

This hoodie looks so cute and comfy. I love the colors and simplicity of it.

Tom Ford Sari Sunnies

These sunnies would definitely be a splurge, but they are so pretty!

Toms Kallie Wedge Booties

These are also on the top of my list. I love wedge shoes more than ever because they are so much more comfortable while traveling. I want them in this matte/flat black.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Dupes

Nadine recently did a post on some dupes for the infamous Nordstrom sale. Since I started looking around for some dupes myself, I thought I would share some of the items I went searching around for and what I found. Some of these are dupes or finds at different retailers.

As I have mentioned before, this sale pisses me off. All of the influencers buy up every size and color of the items you want and then they end up returning most of it only to screw others from getting the discount. I managed to get a few items, but most of what I really wanted was gone. So here are some dupes and other retailers that I found.

I tried my best to find items that are the same price or below, but a few of them are more (and better quality in some cases).

I wanted the Nordstrom necklace, but the letters I wanted were sold out. But Etsy has very similar ones.

I wanted the shirt jacket in the middle, but it sold out in the first day and has never been restocked. So I tried to get the Thread & Supply one, but that one sold out too. I did find another one by BB Dakota, but it is $96, so I am not sure if I want to get that one. Are shirt jackets even worth it?

I love Honeydew pjs. I have a nightgown from them and I wear it all the time. I wanted the above version, but it sold out before it became available to just the cardholders (like me). But Nordstrom Rack has the almost exact version for cheaper. Order up from your normal size.

I wanted the BB Dakota cardigan coat so bad. I wanted it in the brown (latte) color, but it sold out quickly. It came back and I ordered it only to get an email saying it was no longer available. I have also been eyeing this sweater coat at J Crew and it is on sale as well.

I really love this dress. I always want to invest in pieces that are higher quality, like Vince Camuto products, and I wanted this dress for work and going out. But it sold out, came back, but not in my size. I did find a similar dress at Nordstrom Rack by Madewell, but it is shorter.

I wanted the Nordstrom Vince Camuto woven sandals, but they kept selling out in my color. But now that the reviews are rolling in, I am glad I didn't get them. The Vince Camuto's on the right get amazing reviews. And if you are like me and need a wider heel, then the Steve Madden's are right up your alley.
